  1. looks amazing. I watched that video the other day but can't find it now. Can you post a link to it? Also, how do you go about putting the plastic onto the card? Do you just take it off of another figure that you purchase? Yours looks outstanding
  2. Although I did not post this event my Garrison forums, I had the pleasure of helping out a co-worker by riding on his Christmas float in the Mt. Pleasant Christmas Parade last night (Dec. 9). He's the leader of Cub Scout Pack 505 here in Charleston, SC. Their motto is, "We'll camp anywhere." This year was set during the Battle of Hoth. They even built a 13'-0" AT-AT and asked me to ride along in full armor even though I'm a Sandtrooper. I was more than happy to do so. You can't see in the pics but there were also 30-40 scouts marching behind the float. If there was more room on the float he would've asked the Garrison to join and it could've been an "official" event. The crowd loved us. Here are a few pics of the float just before the parade started After the parade I met a great group of pirates known as the Charles Towne Few.
  3. Very exciting. Thanks!! Now to order some MEPD trading cards
  4. Thanks Gordonator...hope I hear back something soon. I want to be official MEPD
  5. Well, I'm back on the MEPD forums after being gone for too long. A few months ago I tried for MEPD deployment and needed to redo a few parts. One was my left shin. It was moving around while I walked. Now it's fixed. I have spent the past 3-4 troops adjusting it and finally got it fitting snug enough. I added in some nice foam strips to the inside. I was in the armor last week for 4 hours playing Shoot-The-Trooper and it didn't move on bit. Here are some shots of my shins now. Looks better now that they're aligned on my legs properly. Another area pointed out on my armor was that my chest piece was rising up and showing my undersuit. Now I have added a small strip of elastic which is Velcroed to the upper torso and lower chest and it keeps the chest armor pulled down nicely. Easy fix. The last thing was somebody wanted to see that I actually had the butt plate seperate from the torso. I always have. It hangs about 1/8" from the bottom of the torso via heavy duty snap system on the inside. Hope this butt-plate picture does the trick. Hope this helps with my deployment
  6. It was extremely fun. I'm doing the game again in January for a local Charity Organization
  7. Well, the Shoot-The-Trooper game that I've been planning and organizing for a few months turned out great. A local school here in Charleston, SC (James Island Elementary School), held their annual Fall Festival yesterday which helps to raise money for their PTA as well as money for projects around the school. This time around they were raising money to help pay for a new outdoor classroom. The day was filled with all sorts of booths including: Plinko, local fire departments, jump castles, food and candy vendors, a cake walk and of course...Shoot-The-Trooper. The event lasted 4 hours and I believe we were the most popular booth throughout the day. At one point, they made an announcement on the PA letting people know there were other events going on. Pretty funny. For our game we had (3) types of NERF guns w/ the following donation breakdowns to play: 5 shots for $1....10 shots for $3 and 25 shots for $5. I was surprised how many people paid to shoot the 25-shot blaster. That gun really annihilated us. Especially when getting shot in the helmet. But it was all in fun. We had (3) Nerf Herders loading the blasters, sweeping up the spent darts and taking tickets. It was a well-oiled operation. We played the Star Wars soundtracks in the background to add a little atmosphere. The school gave us lots of leftover Halloween candy to give away as prizes for playing and we also had some of the 501st Imperial Training Manuals to giveaway as well. At 2:00 pm (halfway through the event) we paused the game for 10 minutes to allow us to do a 10-question Star Wars Trivia contest. I had Star Wars coloring books, Star Wars: The Clone Wars kites and a few Star Wars 100-piece puzzles to give away to the winners. The kids loved it. The line never let up and we had a constant group eager to shoot at us. Although we took a few 5-10 minute breaks for water and to take our helmets off in a nearby classroom, this was an exhausting event. But very fun. Thankfully I was able to bring along a few other familiar faces to the Star Wars Universe. A local bounty hunter by the name of Boba Fett as well as a local Jedi came together with the Carolina Garrison to help make this game a great success. Needless to say, this results exceeded my expectations. At the end of the 4-hour event we raised $301 for James Island Elementary School with Shoot-The-Trooper. Here are some pictures and video from the day, enjoy... They love coming to my events and documenting them.
  8. Thanks fellow troopers. I thought it would be tough doing it solo but it went pretty smoothly
  9. Well, the first visit to MUSC Children's Hospital (Charleston, SC) was a hit! Yesterday, I met with the children on the 7th floor Atrium. This was a great area as it felt like we were outside due to the entire room having a massive skylight. I trooped this one alone due to a few uncontrollable circumstances but it went great! I brought along some Star Wars coloring books, puzzles and printed out a bunch of copies of the 501st Imperial Training Manual activity book. In tow was my Dad (who is currently working on his TIE armor and will be joining up with the Carolina Garrison soon) as a wrangler and a great friend of mine also came to provide some great photos. Once the event was finished, he graciously burnt a disc of the images so that the hospital staff could distribute the pics to the families who wanted copies. I spent time talking to the children, posing for lots of pics, painted pictures, played in a sandbox, some air hockey and also playing Force Unleashed (very fitting) on the Xbox360. Two of the children in particular were by my side the entire time. It warmed my heart to see the children play and have a good time even though they were sick. You wouldn't have known they were...they had so much energy in them. The staff wanted plenty of pics too. Here are some great photos from this event...enjoy.
  10. sorry for the delay....hope to get my final few pics up by the weekend so that hopefully I can get approval soon. I've been swamped with work lately.
  11. Thanks....it took a few months to build the pack. I had to track down everything. But that's half the fun, right?
  12. Yesterday afternoon the Carolina Garrison invaded Joe Riley Stadium in Charleston, SC for another Star Wars Day. It was very hot but the fans loved us and we had a blast serving the Empire. Even though I'm not an official Officer with the MEPD I still wanted to show my pics of the troop since I am a Sandtrooper with the 501st / Carolina Garrison. In attendance were: TD 4734 TB 0933 TI 8560 TK 3855 TD 5945 (My first official deployment) One area to note- we met up with a local bounty hunter, not affiliated with the 501st. He had a trophy frozen in Carbonite. Seeing that he was a supporter of the Empire, we allowed him to maintain his presence. Here are some pics from the troop...
  13. Thanks....been busy with work but I still need to post a few pics to help get me approved quicker....
  14. I have the same problem. I too ordered a pauldron from shoulderpauldrons.com. I love it but it feels like it chokes me too and also keeps me from turning my head. I think i may also try the velcro on the shect piece to maybe hold it down. Nice tip
  15. i have green canvas pouches and (this sounds silly) but I was given the advice by a fellow garrison member to cover them using a Sharpie marker. I did it to mine and it gave them a nice worn down look.
  16. Thanks Nick...I now have a piece of elastic with Velcro on each ends that help to pull the front down tighter. Good eye though. I'll be posting pics of that and the kidney/butt plates in the next day or so
  17. sure thing....I'll post pics of that in the next day or so
  18. I was a little worried that someone wouldn't like the side shims. I'm pleased with them myself. I've actually lost some weight in my torso area since I originally sized the shims.
  19. i agree....i have since added some foam inside the left shin. it was moving when i walked. now it stays put. Thanks though
