  1. Wow, that's a great build! I have lots to do now! I was thinking about replacing the t track... My bench drill skills aren't that hot atm... Lol.. having said that, I have shaped the front sight (must remove that screw cover) and am sourcing t track as we speak... Foolishly I also bought 40mm pvc pipe, hex screws, and aluminium strip... Aha, looking at a homemade pipe build.......
  2. Well i finally did it. dug into the back cabinet and pulled out my Hasbor and my DD's kit (version 2)... And got stuck in... I've read alot of forums and WIpS fom you guys and there are some awesome ones... I was a little (lot) intimidated to put mine out there... but at the same time inspired.. in fact part of the reason i took so long was because i was thinking of scratch building and using DDbits as add ons. Eventually senses struck and with the belt well and truely tight atm i set about turning my Early christmas present into a work of ... mine I sanded back all the lettering, removed the orange end piece (cept for the rear of scope piece....) Gave my blaster an acetone bath-wipe and took a deep breath... (was so excited building i almost forgot to take pix, there are a couple so will add them..) remembering some vague CRL and having a desire to go MEPD Police Officer, i ground off the bottom rail and added extra holes. i left a space for the bayonet lug (i have a resin piece (dd) available to add ...later on...) on the opposite side i ground off and reversed the fin as per the real sterling... I washed all of my DDs pieces and gave them a bit of a trim/tidy at the same time... (it will b really short as aside from the driller thriller and grinding , i was pretty much stick and pray... I am looking for some finer wire to attach to my counter, and will play with inserting pieces into that a bit later on too... This is my first ever weapons build and i was /still am keen to do more... I have alot of notes, but at the same time it will be nice to have my own lil black pew pew for now.... I will attach the d- ring and end cap after painting so i can get the d.ring a nice brass under colour first, will also be colouring the scope parts as well. I plan to drill out under the scope rail as well as the breech port opening and insert a n additional piece - complete with breech scoring... (the screwwy twisty bit...0... I also plan to drill out the extra gaps through the folding stock.... Panda , saw your build .. got really excited and tried to source all your additional pieces.... Maybe next time I will split and trick out my wee bad boy... If there are any guides you can pass on Please feel free to singout. I'll leave it as this for now Quite happy to take all advice/opinion onboard... cheers ****...
  3. stayed offline allday, good luck defeating this guys, safe in aussie atm...
  4. hey guys, what is with this stoopid blackout screen saying "this is what the internet will be like ...etc.. "click to continue?.. are we making a statement, or am i the unlucky victim of useless internet torture?... its absolute &*&^%^& on my mobile, everytime i tap to continue i shortcut somewhere or open something.. HELLP!!!
  5. Thx Rick, Cheers guys, keeping it moving forward. Getting alot of local support and feedback from you guys is awesome. Loving working towards Police Officer deployed status... Keeps the brain occupied The journeys great, when its finally time i'll put my application in, just enjoying the ride atm
  6. Thx QM, I can't imagine the level of work required for SWAT, maybe oneday though... lol... (do we need brass split rivets/ brads? for sides..., will need lots of practise to hide my shim seam... Bondo?)
  7. Gee, can't argue with "looks good", one drill burn, 2 car trips and 30min later... (next step gap fill holes and Shim join, weather for effect...) Thx guys!
  8. Hey fellow Sandies, With my side Shim, is it acceptable to overlap and rivet the ab end of the shim? Or must I butt and rivet? I will paint these white then weather, do i need to fill the holes in the rivet tops? Also I will try to fill the kidneyplate end join to appear as seamless as possible, (that end is butted). This build will only be for Police Officer deployment. Thanx.
  9. Oh yes! Thank you, couldn't log in the otherday and lost my cookies!
  10. Hi guys, going insane, read on.... a forum.... somewhere, that they were doing 501st rings with info engraved on the side and a pic... not able to remember which one or where (now that i've decided to get one!!!) Anyone seen it that can share the link? pls... cheers! **** TD6068
  11. I did (well to the extent my internet limit would allow) FISD Reference pics are very slim and assume small gaps, it appears to read that you would build the Kidney plate forward to meet the Ab plate. but i'm not looking at it from the angle of being an FISD trooper but as a deployed Sandtrooper, so looking to the relevant advice from the relevant source. As we know CRLs are not set in stone but a guide....
  12. More shim questions, if the piece needed between your front ab and rear kidney is 4'' , do you build it up from the back (hide the shim join) then rivet line at the front. or do you build from the ab plate back and have your rivet lines near the original kidney plate line, or build front and back shims that meet in the middle and rivet lines are centered?... or have rivet lines on the actual ab and kidney plates and have a 4'' shim piece in the middle? sry faked up some pics but cant upload from this p.c
  13. Hey guys n gals, **** TD6068, Been active since November 2011, finally approved. loved the dirty boys since watching them (In the original release 77 ) lull those rebel scum into a false sense of security by carefully repeating everything they said... Now looking to deploy as a Police Officer with MEPD, Just looking to do a backpack... Drawn to the 501st after losing my younger brother to cancer last month and seeing all the wonderful fundraising work the local Redback Garrison boys do over here in Queensland Australia.... Just the perfect way to blend both things together... Hope to see you Fellow Dirtys out on patrol soon, **** "How dare you judge me, sitting up there in your airconditioned battle cruisers!"
  14. TD 6068. Respectfully requesting access... Redbacks Garrison. Seeking info to be linked as TD MEPD (then apply for deployment, doing STS backpack...)
