Awesome collection you have there, Mark.
But I can see that your collection suffers from the same problem as mine...
...a decent RotJ helmet!
Talkin RotJ; I love that DL face plate. Finally a new (Dave M/SFS) face, instead of yet another copy of the "Brian R".
However, the cap/neck piece... well, it just isn't my cup of tea. Just too tall and RotJ-ish for my taste. Any idea as to where it derived from?
Certainly not from the Dave M IMO
My two cents (hope you don't mind )

This is the best I could find: LINK

I agree. Go subtle on the weathering. It's not "how much", but "where" to apply it.
-
Thanks guys!
How did ya do this ?!
Well, first I studied lots of refpics of the "Stop that Ship" helmet. (many thanks to Jez!)
I used a pencil to draw the outlines of all the HDPE spots on the helmet.
Then I carefully started to peel away the paint (which isn't very hard, since paint will not adhere to HDPE)
The rest of the weathering effects were done using watered down acrylic paints.

Thanks for the compliments, guys. It's still far from perfect, but a good start IMO.
I'll keep you updated on my progress
That is a complete work of art , it's not a replica , it's prop forgery.
Thanks (...I guess.... )
Well, it's only forgery if you try to pass it off as the original.

Wow! Great weathering job!

I am hoping to do a run of these and offer theme assembled or in kit form. More info to follow soon.
Joe
Congrats Joe! Jaw dropping helmet.
Put me down for one.

I have no idea. I found it while browsing my hard drive archives.

I think when you're not an expert in building you may start with the FX. It's very forgiving when making mistakes (and I'm sure you will.... )
But it wouldn't be your last set of armor. It's a nice set of armor in it's own way, but it's NOT screen acurate. It is in no way related to the originals.

Great find! Thanks for sharing.

Great job! That weathering is AWESOME!!!

I agree with you on the ab plate issue. I did some research and came to the same conclusion. The helmet however seems more complicated in my view.

Here you go, check out the thread over at the RPF I posted a screengrab showing the AB section.
Great pic!
Those shoulder bells sure look different (maybe some type of flexible material?), but what I meant was a scene in ESB showing not only this special armor but that strange RotJ helmet too.
Could you please post a link to that RPF thread? Can't find it.

This is getting creepy.
Not creepy, you've taken your first steps into a larger world!
-
I doubt that suit was screen used unlike the other one which looks like it's seen a fair few battles
Maybe they were going to go back to grey for ROTJ? Here's another pic in which one has a grey mouth.
Ah, the London pics. Reversed abb plate on the right trooper, as seen in ESB!

This is odd... this is exactly the thread I remember reading here several months ago... what's going on?
Deja vue NHM?

I can end the timeframe debate right now for you all. The poster was made the same time as the movie.
How do I know this? Easy.
Topps trading card #1 Red Series ESB header card is the same as the poster. Go check it out for yourself. Came out in 1980. Mystery solved.
Nice thing to have a pornographic memory
Matt/STE
@TE: My memory isn't that pornographic.... but I can confirm it:

@Troopermaster: That theory certainly makes sense! Though, I can't think of a single scene showing this particular armor.
That leaves us with just one question: Why that grey ANH frown in the ESB promo poster? It makes no sense whatsoever.
-
IMO it's essential to know WHEN the ESB promo poster was made.
That may solve a few questions, because it's save to say that the trooper on the right is RotJ (or at least the helmet is).

It has ALL the RotJ characteristics except for the grey ANH frown.

Don't own a TE2, but I can tell you the SiMan is significantly larger than a TE.
