Thanx everyone.
I normally don't do 'show-off' threads. But this was a long project. I started off with set of 'Altmann' stormtrooper armor back in 1995 !!!!!
Then upgraded to an TE2 about 4 years ago. Lots of homework and work later - I have this.
There is way to much sand. I put extra on. I'm sure I'll loose some on it's first troop.
Few thing wrong with the pack. But for everyone who loves their armour - It's never realy finished. There is always something we want to fix.

Hi there guys.
It's been years since I started this project. I work full time, and have three children under the age of 5. I have very little time and money to spend on this hobby ( about $250 USD a year ) so it's taken me a while. But the good thing about that is - I've spent a lot of time on this forum. Daily for years. I don't post much. It's a great wealth of info and help. Thanx to all. I'm yet to get this bad boy on. It's on a Mannequin at the moment ( see pics ) waiting my next troop.

Still nice to see though
Cheers
Nice work there Niko!
[noticing trays in background] And those pack boxes look sweet too!
Cheers!
I grabbed them years ago off Seth when he did a run.
That will look great on your pack Niko!!
And yep..there already was a thread regarding this item..But we can never have enough suppliers
Thanx mate. I don't know about 'suppliers' I could do some - but they wouldn't be cheap. Easy enough to do your own - just a lot of time.

Bummer – I thought I had an original idea. I’ve just had a quick look though the forum and noticed some of you guys have done similar to what I did.

Hi there guys.
Something I’ve been working on for a while. This is my ‘filter’ for my pack. What do you think?
Sorry for the hand. I’m still putting my pack together. It’s only taken 2 years Last thing I need to make is the side pole. That’s next.
I’ve got progress pics if anyone want to know how I did it. Is my ‘filter’ good enough for a tutorial – I can do one.

Very nice. Well done.
-
Not to shabby. Might need to get me one of these one day.
-
id like to get a fiberglass helmet a little later on though..... rod
WHY ???? The only good thing about fiberglass is that the Definition is sharper. Fiberglass is good for display only.

Sorry - but - What are the different pouchs for ?
-
i´m still not sure about what was used for the original part but here is what i did...
i used a can of 8 cm diameter and round about 16 cm height.
i ordered black hosepipe and cuttet it to fit on the sides of the can.
glued them on using E6000 glue and dremelt the edges like the movie version...
This is what I did also.
But I used PVC pipe- Which I heated and put a kink in it so that it sits better on the box. Also I covered mine with a dark grey velvet which I sprayed lightly with flat black. I'll have to dig up my camera.

Niko, my local hobby store stocks Humbrol paints. You should have told me you were looking when you were down. LMK if you want me to drop in and get you some.
Thanx anyway. But as I said above - I have some now.
-
O.K. –
Thanx for that link. Looks great for future reference.
Now- My Bad! I rang around paint suppliers asking about Humbrol. Everyone said that they didn’t stock it. What I didn’t know was that Humbrol is a ‘Model’ paint. So I rang my nearest Model Place today and Bingo! I brought a tin of enamel and acrylic.
I will take these and get them color matched into ‘pressure pack’ cans. Easy for me to paint with.
Thanx everyone who helped.
Cheers, Niko.

I’ll look into it again.
I tried to get some ‘Krylon’ delivered from another state over here, and was told that it can’t be sent by post.
-
I'm not sure if it's legal to ship paint by mail.
-
Hi there.
I can’t get Humbrol #47 over here in South Australia. If this is the color that is needed for a screen accurate pack – I would like to get it. Can anyone in the U.K. or U.S. get me a ‘sample card’ ? ( I hope you all know what I mean.) I can then get it color matched over here.
Cheers, Niko.

What I ment was –
Why didn’t you hand paint the ‘trapezoid’ and ‘tear’ rather then using decals?
You have put alot of work in already.
-
After doing all that work – Why did you bother using decals?????
-
Its frustrating.... I have asked and asked again and again. These guys only care about arguing with each other. Its as if they dont even read anyones posts over there.
Vent away my friend. I have noticed yours and others Q being ignored. It's all another bun fight. If you like it - buy it - wear it. These guys are crazy.

I sent the pics to my Garrison's GML, I figured it has come up before on the 501st GML forum so she probably knows the answer.
Thanx mate.
You didn't tell her it was an Altmann did you? I hope not. I want this armour judged on what it looks like and not the maker. There is a definite ‘bad taste’ that the 501st have for Steve’s work.
Cheers , Niko.

Looks good to me, is that one of the Altmann suits?
Good eye my friend.
Yes it is an Altmann. It’s a great suit. But it’s too tall for me. I would have to trim the s*#t out of it to make me look good. It’s made of 3mm H.I.P.S.!!!! You could battle an Rancor in this thing. I want to sell it and buy either an TE2, AP or TM. Purely because I’m a short ****.
I’ve posted on the 501st Legion site with out to much feedback. If I get the thumbs up that it would be accepted – then I sell it. If it’s a thumbs down – then I finish it and use it for display only. ( It's on a Mannequin in the pic's.)
Cheers , Niko.

Thanx mate.
I'm not streesed about the helmet. Not sure if I'll part with the helmet or just the armour. ( The helmet also needs 'ears' )

Will not be long.
I live in South Australia. It's the second driest place in the world. Me and a few fellow sandies will suit up and go down to the dunes for some pics.
