  1. Thats because most armor made nowadays based on the TE origins are Rotj / tour suit based, so of course it doesnt look like Anh. Rotj was recast from the original armor, so there will be loss of detail from generation to generation. Consider how far Ata is from the original, and there will be differences. If it doesnt suit your needs then modify it.

yep. i ll have to do that. more challenging but in the end rewarding... With your tuts, ill be able to do that. i saw your return edge videos also which will help for sure. for earth magnets, which force do you recommend? i saw those on lee valleys site but i am not too sure which i should get...i guess the 5 lbs one would be ok... what do you think?

  2. i just find that the angle on the chest piece is too much going outside to my taste. i have seen some armors that had that type of return edge but most have it bent inwards...

i want to use the anh strapping system and that would mean the head of the bolts would show a lot...

most of the armor is ok with the return edges and the molding flashing you have to remove but there are parts that just don't seem to be natural compared to the original film...

  3. good day folks,

i got an ATA kit and i am doing the ruff trim right now and i am looking at some return edges at some places and they seem odd or not at a proper angle...

example...the chest plate...the front underside as a return edge that seems to be 45 degrees rather than going some more inside the armor... my problem is that i want to do the original strapping system of ANH on my armor but if i look at the movies shots most chestplate seem to have a return edge almost a 90 return edge on that part and many parts also.

i was wondering if many people had to fix the return edge on different parts of their armor? to me it seems that a lot of parts need some more bending for their respective return edges,..

    any thoughts on this?

  4. If you need more close up on Rolfs armor, just tell me, since i am the one which have the armor now ;)

They acctully hold the armor together very good, but you might want to put something at the bolts, so they will stay in place, like paint or glue.

    Hi gang,

i Semi get the idea but could you elaborate? and yes i love pictures, the more the better... thanks

  5. this is cool looking, i have handled real army weapon and if you do not care for them for whatever reason they can rust pretty quickly and look like the gun presented by Gimiz here. But for us it was a punishable offense to let our weapon come to that state....no rust was permitted...but of course this is star wars and a universe in its own.

great job...it looks like a use banged up real gun...cant get any better than that! :)

  6. like most people here would say, get these and you ll be all set, it is the preffered standard for most trooper who do not use decals...

plus mike ships them superfast to you... plus you only need one kit, you can almost paint an entire army with one tin ;)

p.s mike as paint videos on youtube if your are interested, just type tk4510 in the search engine or google it..also humbrol paints dry all even the paint looks real good when dried...

    Mikes paint kit

p.s he is painting a hips helmet not an abs one...

  7. Hi all,

i am getting a bucket soon and i would need a few advices on how to prep it for paint.

in all honesty i would like to give it an hpde look but i have read about a specific way to prrep the helmet.

can you tell me what wet sanding is?

the bucket is hips, i was thinking of putting some primer on then a kakhi krylon paint on it then a final glossy white over the helmet.

so that is 3 layers of paint and i wondering if this is too much...

can someone explain to me how you would prep and paint your helmet?

  8. Lol.... Sounds like you've got lots of "work" in your future. Just tell the gf it's for charity...that's how I got permission for mine lol

actually that is what i told her and in all honesty i would do it to raise funds for charities around my town...i think i would be " a lonesome trooper" no one here as done so far but hey! i would be considered cool!

i wish i could pick a few other fans and start a garrison, there is none in new brunswick canada..it would be a first!

  9. I know Karin does some awesome repro gloves and they are quality items, it is just that i am gathering information at the moment and i want to keep my cost down as much as possible. also i found some nice glove at a store called dollorama they are pretty accurate and will do the trick. And i want to build a few pairs for myself and be proud of doing scratch build for me.

and no i am not gonna start selling handguards i live in a trailer park and i don't even have a place to do this. i would need to do this in my home and i am not going to turn it into stormtrooper parts factory. Even if i would i could not do it.

lol when my gf learns that my real plan is to actually build a full stormtrooper or sandtrooper outfit instead of just a helmet like i am leading her to believe she will be moody enough so i don't wanna aggravate my case.

i ll leave to others to help others.

    cheers!
