  1. got the backs of the legs trimmed as pointed out to me, not had much time to other things due to building a guitar room. So i can play and display my armor when not in use, you know the saying happy wife, happy life. as soon as i get the rest of the armor and back pack done i will happily post my pics.

  2. Any black spray paint will do dude. Plastikote or something like that. It's just to darken out your face when people are talking to you as the light won't bounce around inside your lid. Also so that it looks better for those that get the occasional glimpse inside the helmet.

Thanks Smally and also to Dave, will look into getting that paint one way or another.

  3. Thanks guys, yeah i agree about weathering the helmet more. My good friend is going to show me on how to do that, i bought this armor from a trooper from Scotland. The one thing that stands out for me is that i am one of the few tall troopers i know, i am 6' 5", all the bigger and badder for dealing with the Rebel scum.

The back pack will hopefully be done very soon, i have more or less everything for it. It's just a matter of time of putting it all together.

  4. Hi guys, sorry it has taken so long to get pics up since i introduced myself. Finally figured out photobucket :D

I got my 501st approval last December,i still have to finish up my back pack. Hopefully you like what you see, needless to say i am over the moon myself...lol

looking forward to hearing from you guys on your thoughts.

  5. Welcome Rob, and congrats on your TD designation and becoming part of the MEPD! :duim:

I've upgraded your status on here to be a sandtrooper so you should be able to see the TD only forums now as well.

Have fun, and again, welcome to the sand pit!! B)

Thanks Nol, not sure if you remember me but i posted on here very late in the year about first time armor buyer. Just want to say thanks to you and all other Sandies who helped me to get where i am now. I already got to try the armor out at my kids school, kids were taken back by a 6' 5" Sandtrooper...lol .

Thanks again to everyone...you all know who yous are :)

  6. Ah! X-acto! I have all the sharp tools one could ask for (too many depending whom you ask). I was not entirely off when thinking about detailed files then. Cudos brothers! :D

In europe the x-acto knife is just known as a stanley knife, well thats what they are called in Scotland before i moved here to Canada and asked for a stanley and i got some weird looks i can tell you....lol

  7. There are some TALL troopers out there, and yes, you can make just about any armor work for you.

I've heard the thighs on TM are longer than the thighs on TE2 or AP... so that might be something to consider/research.

But it really comes down to assembly.

You most certainly will have a "bit more black" showing than us 5'11" troopers, but that doesn't keep you from looking just as bad *** as any other TD!

    Thanks a lot Nol

  8. Hey Rob....welcome brother.

Absolutely check out the supplied links. you should find the answers you are looking for there. Once you get the armor nailed down you will find tons of options for additional pieces to go with it. let us know when we can help and please keep us posted on your progress :)

Thanks Dirty Boy, i looked up Nols links and it's pretty safe to say a bit overwhelming at the armor that is available. I am thinking on going with the ABS armor, reason being that it already has the gloss fininsh. I am open to suggestions on different armor, thanks again to those of the MEPD who rsponded to this call for help.

    Thanks everyone

    Robmac

  9. Hi there, i am in the midst of looking up armor that will be value for money and meet the requirements to join 501st. I was wondering if any fellow members could give me some advice on where to even start????

    All help is gratefully appreciated

    Thanks in advance

    Rob

PS i live in Niagara Falls Canada, so if anybody knows of a north American vendor that would be great.
