  1. Hey Mike, I had to order the acrylic paints I'm going to try and they haven't arrived yet, so no progress. I'm going to try a mixture of burnt umber and gray like Pandatrooper suggested and see what happens. I am intrigued by the fuller earth method though. I'm looking forward to seeing you pictures.
  2. Great tutorial, Scott! Very interesting reading.
  3. looks great. Looking forward to a completed AT-AT driver.
  4. Great way to display the E-11! What kind is your E-11? Looks like a nice build.
  5. Okay, no problem. I don't have the technical skill to install the electronics, so it's not a big deal.
  6. Is it possible to get an upgrade i.e. new barrel and switch for a 2008 model?
  7. Okay here are the pics of the right shoulder. The right bell just doesn't sit like the left. Maybe tighter elastic across the inside? Sorry I couldn't get a better picture.
  8. Hi Robbie, Welcome to the MEPD! Check out this link to learn more about the various armors (if you haven't saw it already): http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=11538 Pat
  9. Thanks for the advice Terry. The elastic and snaps were already installed when I bought the armor. What kind of elastic and snaps will I need to redo the ones attached between the garter and thigh armor? Also what kind of foam and glue works best when attaching it to the shin of TM armor? It may take me a few days to get a pic of the shoulder bell.
  10. Here's some pictures of the second time I've worn my armor. Note I don't have my boots or waist pouches yet. I'm having some issues. First the shoulder bell on my right won't stay in place and keeps sliding toward my back even with the pauldron. Second the shin on my left leg won't stay facing forward it shifts to one side after walking. Third are the thigh armors too low toward my knees? Finally are the forearms too high toward the elbows?
  11. Thanks for the tips and encouragement, guys. I'm going with acrylic paints and may get them today. Erik here's the thread you were talking about: http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=7290
  12. Hey all, I've been looking through the various posts on completed weathering jobs and the various tutorials on paints, oily finishes, hairspray and fullers earth. Since I've never done this before I feel in over my head and don't want to screw up my armor. I have a mental picture of what I want my armor to look like as far as weathering goes, but am not sure how to achieve it. I like the more dusty look rather than thick dirt. From pictures alone I'm not sure how apparent the weathering would look in person since flashes tend to wash colors out. I did find a store here that sells artist acrylic paints so may be able to start weathering sooner that I thought. Any advice?
  13. I understand totally. I'm really wanting a MG-15, but it's way outside my budget.
  14. Mike, I really like the weathering job you did on your armor. Also I was wondering what the silver case with "mos eisley" on it is used for.
  15. I hope they ship soon. It's been two months since I ordered them and they're the last thing I need to apply for 501st membership.
  16. Wow, looks like it's been the desert for sure.
  17. Congrats on getting the MG-15 and a great job on weathering it!
  18. Hey Peter, I've never ran into anything with it. The end with the stock, trigger, etc is solid wood throughout. The muzzle is also a solid piece of wood with plastic tubing around it. The two pieces are held together with a single screw, also very sturdy. The only thing I can see being fragile is the gun sight which sits above the barrel. It could break off if banged against something. Hope this helps.
  19. Okay thanks Juan. I have a leather shoulder pouch but haven't gotten the waist pouches yet. Right now the small spanish pouches would better fit my budget. If I could only get my boots from TK boots, I could apply for 501st membership. It's been eight weeks since I've ordered them.
