Hey,
Here is a short video of me doing a walk by the camera at the Star Wars weekends parade in June. It was nice and hot down there, but it was a blast!! I highly recommend it if you haven't marched it before!
-
Very cool guys! This is by far the finest detachment in the 501st!!
-
The mic tips will be coming in the next week. I was told that they are a more accurate, new and improved mold, so they should be sweet! I'm getting close!
-
You look great man way ta go! Man I got to get me a pair of those gloves.
Were you able to find those gloves online?
-
we all get stuck in the mud, we are Sandtroopers.
Haha! Nice!
-
Thanks for the words of encouragement!!
-
Hurry, hurry, hurry!!!
I feel like I was moving along pretty good and now I'm stuck in the mud.
-
Hopefully, I'll be in good to go with the mic tips in another week.
-
Oh yes!
I can see the remaining white paint.
So, yes, just a touch up and thats it!
Saludos
No problem!
Keith hasn't gotten back to me with regards to the mic tips. Does anyone know an alternate way to contact him to verify that he received my message? Thanks in advance.
-
It looks like you are almost there.
One suggestion though.
Could you paint those rivets on the armor securing the shoulder strap white?
I know they wont really show once you wear your paludron and shoulder pouch, but since they are not seen on the movie, I think it would be better if you "hide" them.
Anyone think different?
Saludos
What's up? I did have them painted white on the outside and a lot of it has worn off from trooping. I have to touch them up from time to time, I guess.
-
AWESOME!
Those look better than mine!
Is there still a question on your hovi mics?
What are the ones you have? Are they "Correct Hovi-Mix mic tips" as the CRL states?
Hey Nol. I have the mic tips that came with my AP armor that aren't quite cannon. I'm contacting Keith for one of his mic tip sets tonight. I'm almost there.
-
I like those gloves mate very cool... where did ya get em?
How's it going? I got those gloves at my local surf shop. They're actually dive gloves. They're dry-lock, bamboo gloves by Xcel.
-
Got a new sewing machine and got the straps done!!
-
Awesome!!
How's that line near the end of Episode IV go?
You know... the one when the first guy is gonna try and blow up the Death Star...
Oh yeah, "Almost there... allll most there...."
I hope that I don't suffer the same fate as that guy!
-
How are you making out with the "GLUE" ?
Still waiting on the machine to be fixed.
-
Those are the faucet aerator nozzles that ships with the AP helmet kits. The screen used mic tips look like more this:
Pic is of one of Keith´s excellent Hovi mic tips. I´m not sure if he´s still making them, but I think so..?
(I borrowed the image from one of his posts here on the MEPD, hope he doesn´t mind!)
Thanks for the heads up. I got in contact with him, and he's still making them.
-
The sewing machine broke on me!! Ahhhhhhhhhh! Getting it fixed tomorrow. Hopefully, I can get these straps finished this weekend. Bear with me guys!
-
as an alternative.....i used some "mighty mend" on a project i was working on....it was elastic based material and held perfectly. Im a pop rivet and glue type of guy so anywhere i can get out of sewing im all about it.
Haha, I hear ya! I'm usually that way too, but I was recently using the sewing machine to put some patches on my garrison jacket, so I'm kinda in the zone.
-
Awesome man!
Did you get fabric on the shoulders??
(cause I REALLY wanna deploy you tonight!!!)
I picked up the material last night and I'm going to pull an all night sewing session tonight. I'll post some pix as soon as I finish up. Thanks again for all of the feedback!
-
cool armor and pack bro. great work.
i think that buttons in black on the radio will be more beautiful but it seems that not obligatory.
something out to me : is it normal that your two parts forearm is not connected by an outer band (is this will be ok for the deployment?)
I had just done a mod the night before to give my arms a little breathing room. I didn't fasten them tight enough for the photoshoot since I wasn't used to them. Here is another pic I just took.
Here is the pic of my ammo cover and disc on my DLT-19 as well.
-
Or white elastic band. You could probably just sew on to the existing black
Ok, cool. I'll hit the fabric shop tonight! Thanks!
-
Looking forward to the updates. At the mean time I will clear the locker for you at the station so you can use it once you are deployed. Dusted it with lots of sand hope you like it.
Haha, thanks
Quick question, do the shoulder straps need to be white canvas. Right now I have black fabric straps. Thanks.
-
John how about a pic of your MG34 with the ammo cover and round disk above the hand grip?
Also need the pic of the shoulder straps (canvas or elastic)
I think it looks great bro....nice job
Sure thing. I'll take close up shots as soon as I get home from work tonight.

Lookin' good man!
I will wait — as I always do — for others to chime in first of course. But the only things I have questions about are the hovi mics and cheese grater hand plates. As it's written now the trapezoid hand-plates are required for deployment. (I'm sure you have some around even if you must.) And the hovi mic tips must be "correct." I simply can't tell if yours are or not.
Don't do anything yet though!
Let us see what others say and go from there.
Anyone else have thoughts?
(oh yeah, nice gun!!)
Hey Nol,
How are you? I do have a dirtied up set of trapezoid hand plates I can switch out with the cheese graters. Here they are. Let me know if you need me to wear them with the rest of the armor.

Hey Gordonator,
My family was saying stuff to me and I just kind of made the "what, can't hear you" gesture. With the crowd cheering and the music playing, I guess it actually was a little hard to hear. Lol. Have you been there for SWW yet?
