  1. Hey, Is it okay if I use my deployment picture for my Garrison trading card?
  2. I agree, nothing can beat the original trilogy, except maybe the original trilogy in good, Avatar quality 3D. The original cast would definitely be a mistake to cast for anything. Carrie Fisher didn't even like to admit she was even in Star Wars until a couple of years ago. Only then did she embrace the Star Wars community probably because she needed some $$. Harrison Ford would probably also be equally insulted to be seen in a Star Wars movie as well. Big time movie stars always seem to forget where they came from and who gave them their big break.
  3. This is gonna be great! Can't wait to see these movies in 3D! Especially 4,5, and 6!!
  4. How's it going? I'm recording the radio traffic right now and it's really sounding cool. I also have a bunch of effects that I'm using to bring the pack to life at the same time. I should be done in the next couple of weeks. Can't wait to let everyone hear it.
  5. Do you mean the getting harassed by security part? Lol. My TK buddy decided to take a walk over to the neighboring Hot Topic store and actually had about six security guards escort him back to build a bear. Apparently he frightened an old couple who was walking through the mall and they called security on him. All in all it was a very eventful day. Luckily, our Jedi is also a cop and helped set everyone straight.
  6. Hey fellow sandtroopers, Just did a troop on Saturday Sept 25 to help support Build a Bear's launch of their new line of Star Wars themed bears. It was a great day and a lot of fun. At one point, me and one of the clean TKs decided to take a walk through the mall and had a run in with security who apparently have a problem with masked people walking through public places with realistic looking weapons. Lol. Oops. We decided not to disintegrate them and returned back to our duty station. Lol.
  7. They have a really cool presentation at the park that describes the process. The dunes are made of gypsum which is created by I think, the erosion of rocks. Gypsum normally is washed out to sea by streams and doesn't ever really accumulate, but since there is no water in the white sands area, the gypsum collects and is blown by the wind to it's current location. Since gypsum is so light and powdery, the dunes are always moving and shifting.
  8. Awesome shots! I visited White Sands when I was training with the army at Fort Bliss. That place was incredibly impressive. Hey dirty boy, that's definitely the desert. I don't think there's a beach anywhere in that area. It's a very cool process that makes the white sand phenomena.
  9. Pretty wild. Definitely looks like the guy raided the dumpster by the prop shop back in 1977. Lol.
  10. Sure. You might want to wait until I finish the initial recording. You might not even like it. Lol.
  11. Thanks for all of the info guys. I just finished my draft of the script for the radio chatter and am starting the recording process. I plan to have the random backpack sounds play in between the chatter to make the pack sound like it's doing something in between transmissions. Should be pretty cool. I'm going to have the track start with the backpack sounds and then kick into the radio traffic at about the 5 minute mark. I figure this would give time from when you place your mp3 player into your pack, get it the pack on, and finally get out trooping. You don't want to have all the good stuff play while you're still in the dressing room. Lol.
  12. You might be able to use a free service called drop box. Just go to dro box.com and set up an account. Then invite the person you are trying to send it to. It's online file sharing.
  13. Yes, absolutely! It will be really cool to hear everything that went on behind the scenes during this part of the movie. Thanks for the great ideas guys! Once I get the bulk of it recorded, I'll send it to you guys so you can help with ideas to make it better. That's if you want to of course.
  14. Haha. That's awesome! I love it! It's funny you mention that, because I plan on putting a pause to allow a reply to the radio call when the transmissions call out my TD number. After this pause, it repies back as if you answered anyway. I'm sure you can come up with something to explain the reason for your current location. Lol.
  15. I understand what you are saying Nol. It's almost like sitting in the movie theater and having to watch the pre-movie slide show repeat itself over and over again as you sit there in agony, waiting for the movie to start. Hopefully, mine won't be too annoying. Lol. I'm trying to give it a random feel and make it long enough to make it interesting. If anything, it will be an alternative for those that don't mind
  16. Hey everybody, I started a new project last night and thought I would share. I started creating a sound loop of radio chatter for my backpack. After scripting it out, I decided that it would pretty much chronicle the entire operation on Tatooine from touchdown, right up to the point where the Mellenium Falcon was attacked as it took off from Mos Eisley. I have acquired all of the sound effects I need and started the recording process. I also thought it also would be cool to have my own TD number in the radio chatter here and there, so I'm working that into the "script" as well. I anticipate that, when finished, it should be between 6 to 10 minutes of radio traffic that can loop on an iPod shuffle and speaker placed within the backpack radio. Once I get close to finishing, I'll post the file up so you guys can check it out and also use it if you like. Also, due to the way I'm recording this, I'll be able to record personalized versions with your own TD number in the mix. Stay tuned for more updates!
  17. Awesome! Your knee plate looks like mine. Is it a softer plastic than the rest of your suit? Reason I ask is that plastic is very susceptible to heat and after I had my armor in a hot car all day, it deformed slightly since I had other armor pieces stacked on top of it. I now leave it at the top of my bin. The plastic my knee plate is made of is so soft that I was able to reshape it with a hair dryer! Lol. Just figured I would share since your knee plate appears to be like mine.
  18. Very nice! Those people sure didn't give you enough room to walk. I really liked Qui Gon.
  19. Yeah the Star Wars Lego stuff is so much cooler than those goofy looking Lego people they used to have. Lol
  20. Hey everybody, I found this Lego sandtrooper pic online and thought I would share it with everyone.
  21. Haha. We had a bunch of troops drop out at the last minute, so it was just him and I representing. He threw the pauldron on to help make us look a little more similar. He's our XO, so I let him slide. Lol.
