  1. Hey everyone. Sorry to make you wonder where I was but I'm still here. 2014 wasn't a very good year for me. I've had to step away from the forums for a while due to some personal issues. I'm also recovering from a badly broken hand that I got around Thanksgiving. Haven't been able to work in the shop much and most of my commission stuff has been on hold.

Smally, I Will PM you as soon as I can.

Anyone looking for a pack at this time, I have to apologize and say it's going to be at least 4 to 6 months before I would be able to get anything done.

Thanks everyone for your concerns and again I apologize. Hope to be back in the swing of things as soon as possible.

  2. Hey Rob. I would definitely reinforce the areas. Use some spare ABS underneath and attach it with ABS cement. That stuff actually melts the plastic slightly and fuses the 2 pieces together. I don't think its necessary to heat and bend the area, but if you do it, I would do it after the reinforcement.

Elastic or canvas gets attached UNDER the armor...not over the top.

  3. I've been down this road 2-3 times myself already. Even had one place say they "physically" checked and had the oval ones. Had 2 cases delivered to my house only to find both were the pyramid shape. Uugghh!!!

Most places have not updated their photos on their websites and they are also using the same Model # as the old style.

Don't be fooled by the pictures or them telling you they checked their computer and show they have them in stock.

Unless they have eyes on them to confirm the shape is oval, they are wrong.

  4. I was thinking of pouring a cast of one to make a tool. Then cut the tool in half and vac form it in 2 halves that could be glued together. Sort of how the old Crashmann syphon was done.

Another idea, pour a resin mold of just the bottom oval shape. Then wrap it with plastic for the main body.

  5. Hey gang. Just wanted to throw this out there so maybe we can all work together to find a solution.

As Rick can attest, the Oval Faucet Covers we have been using for our pack builds over the years has suddenly been discontinued and undergone a design change.

Since this was the closest available part as far as screen accuracy is concerned, we now have a problem. I have been searching for weeks now, trying to find a source for the old style, but have come up empty.

One place that I found claimed to have 1,500 of the old style, in fact, did not.

I know that someone started a thread recently with the Italian Gio Style 70's Canteen that it may be a found part for the stinger. I'm sure these are extremely rare to find, if it is in fact, THE part.

    So what to do now???

Anyone up for making a Tool of the Faucet Cover for possible vac forming???

  6. Looks real good Jason.

With regards to the frown mesh, while it is true that it is not necessary as the screen used buckets did not have it, I would recommend you add it in the bucket. Without it installed, it is possible to see your face inside the helmet through the frown. I personally do not want the public to see me inside while trooping.
