  1. Quick someone point me towards the dewbacks...I want one...Save lots of money on gas riding it to work instead of driving...
  2. mine just smells like filet of sole...err umm...n/m nah mine smell like new leather shoes. Fit fine and comfortable.
  3. Well finally got my TD# and would like to request deployment. TD-9984 White TD armor dirtied up Caboots boots Backpack with mp38/40 3+1 leather pouch attached White pauldron(also have black but no picture with it) MP38/40 3 mag pouches Sandtrooper ab plate and Sniper plate Flat green lenses Blue tube stripes T21 BFG(and as soon as it gets here a DLT19 hyperfirm)
  4. From the US you are looking at 2000+ for the airfare, plus needing a travel visa, passport, hotel room, rental car(probably). Also realize that if I recall tunisia has some fairly stringent rules on weapons, which a lot of our blasters may fall under. As cool an idea as I think this is...you are probably looking at 3K+ to do it, possible 4k. THis is all based on quick and dirty math and price searches online. cj
  5. well...finsihed except I need a new pack cause I don't think this one will qualify as a TD pack...that and the thing broke about 5 minutes after the pictures where taken.
  6. Guns, I guess my problem is this. If you say, "Only TDs can wear pauldrons" are you next going to say, "Only TDs can carry BFGs" or "Only TDs can have flat lenses" or "only TDs that are dirty can have ab plates or sniper knees"? There is evidence of the TKs haveing access to BFGs in the original New hope, so doubt that would fly but does anyone have any screen caps of regular TKs haveing flat lenses? How about TXs? THose are based on EU so therefore by peoples views on here they shouldn't be accepted. Well guess I will have to melt down my Stealth trooper. This situation is endemic of a wave that seems to be sweeping the 501st. Rather then trying to welcome people into the group it has become a case of people feeling that if you don't see the SW universe the way I see it that you can't come play. I don't mind the 501st wanting to keep the level of costuming at a high level. I think everyone should strive to have as accurate a set of armor as possible but at the same time personalization is great, especially when there is evidence to support it from official sources. If you want to limit the 501st to just the white armor variants and vader/the emperor well then go ahead and vote on it. I will continue to wear my Pauldron, both with my TK/TD and my TX because I personally think they look better with it. If that means I can't troop with x y or z, well then I guess I will have to miss out on it. BTW just curiose...how many people have their weathering matching ANY screen cap? If not does that mean you aren't cannon and therefore shouldn't be deployed/member of the 501st? *shrug* the next step...must follow the pattorn of weathering seen on the screen... Yes I do know that is a little out there...but who knows maybe it is the next step. CJ
  7. Let me preface this by saying I do not have a TK/TD ID yet. Have my TD almost finished, just need to fix the thighs(way too small). I don't want to step on anyones toes, but I was under the immpression that the visual dictionary and other 'official' sources list the pauldrons as signs of rank. I did not remember it stating sandtrooper only equipment. If it does please correct me. To prohibt a person from wearing something that is shown in an official LFL/GL product is tantement to saying "if you don't follow the MEPD requirments then you can't be a TD" I understand the MEPDs view that to belong you have to meet very stringent requirments. But to say that those parts can only belong to the TD is a little bit out there. To quote the charter "The only requirements for membership are "ownership" of an accurate, complete, and professional-quality costume celebrating the Imperial (Dark Side) characters from the Star Wars films or its expanded universe sources..." I personally like the customization of peoples armor. While they may not be appropriate at all cannon events, they are very much a part of the SW costuming family. And as another said, You always have the choice to troop with people or not to troop with them. CJ
  8. it just me or does he seem to be missing some parts? J/k looking good. Only thing I would have suggested is a little more color. Of course I am also one who thinks a little bit of dirt goes a long way. Anyway just my .00012 cents after taxes... CJ
  9. There is a still I have seen of the speeder scene where if you look closely you see the barrel of one the blasters. It has the rectangular vents(and if I remember no inner barrel). The 34 had round holes similiar to the sterling. the only firearm I have seen with the rectangular vents was the 42. I will dig around for it and post it if I find it. CJ
  10. I am useing a Skullworx system. While it looks very nice and doesn't look at all clutered I was somewhat disapointed. It includeds the amp, mike, araetor speakers and fans all in one. I found the fans too loud and the vibration of them transmits through the helmet, so they are almost always off. As far as the speaker/amp, I found I couldn't get it loud enough without suffering feedback. As it is its only marginally louder then me talking normally with the helmet on. It could just be that I don't know what I am doing, but all in all wasn't as happy with it as I hoped. CJ
  11. So what did he pop you for rob? Driving your bantha while intoxicated? Posesion of a firearm while drunk? Come on how long did it take before you just set your blaster to stun and escaped? Seriously though, I love that picture. Their is another one on the web somewhere of another guy getting patted down by the cops(I think it was at C3 but could swear to it). PS. It just me or does it look like he sticking his hand...oh nevermind
  12. Well finished my pack last night(until I decide to mess with it some more... It came out pretty good, needs a bit more weathering, but all in all I think it looks pretty good. Its not screen acurate, but I think it looks pretty good anyway. Still need to add the "mortar" to it, just haven't had a chance to get to the box shop. If you would like to see the rest of the pictures and have a kodak gallery account(they are free) just go to http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=lxm2ey...89&x=1&y=5tcqph cj
  13. 1009 just out of curiosity, how did you make them more leather like? Just wondering because I bought a pair similiar to them and was looking for some tips on making them a bit more film like. Thanks. CJ
  14. and this isn't the abdomen piece I am going to be useing. Just recieved my TD abdomen but wanted to try my hand at weathering on a piece I won't be useing.
  15. Comments? I don't like the "swamp trooper" dirtying of the armor. Wanted a bit more understated weathering. Still feel its too dirty in the center and not enough on the sides...anyway...just wanted some opinions. CJ
  16. any chance you can post a top down picture? Thats the one thing I have been looking all over for is a detailed picture looking straight down at the reciever. I've my wood/PVC one done but am unhappy with it. It looks the right shape but has 0 of the detail I want. or if anyone knows of any good top down pics online point me the right way please. CJ
  17. Question for you all. To be a TD do you have to dirty your armor. Reason I ask, have got my TX suit, in process of putting it together right now. Have got my DLT-19 assembled, just need to finish painting it, have my pauldron(though it is red not a canon collor), and am starting my pack tomorrow(well the shopping for it. Need a break from the armor). I just haven't figured out if I really want to dirty up the nice shiny black, cause it looks so evil as it is. Anyway wasn't sure if I had to have it dirty for membership in the MEPD. CJ
