Now for sale and being made!

I created plans based on ckings drawings, and updated dimensions taken from my

    volvo panel.

I've modified the cking plans so that I can offer a kit that will fit into a

6x10x82" box, suitable for reasonably priced shipping. I'm offering local picup

as well, and those who want local pickup can get a kit which requires less

    assembly.

I'm using 1/2" thick MDF and cutting out the side planks and top and bottom

planks, plus four pieces for the front border. Included is screws, and other

wood parts to aid in construction. The large front board that your

rubber/fiberglass parts would attach to is not included, since that is very

large to ship, heavy to ship, and not complex to create locally. You'll need

some simple tools like a file, and an electric screw driver to complete the

build. I've posted build instructions at the end of this post .

The kit costs $225 plus shipping. Shipping will be around $50 but I'm not sure

yet. It depend on your location. There is a competition going on between the yahoo hic builders,

the 501st(and subforums like this one), the rpf and tdh and the rebel legion. Whichever site gets the most

orders before noon on my birthday, May 16th will get $10 each person credited

    back to them.

  2. Here's the updated model

I've just aligned the four parts, the three knobs on the faceplate, so you can see the larger disc on the right knob, which is part of the silicon mold casting procedure.

Almost done. There is a few more things to do, and then the part will be ready

  3. I suppose he will split it up. He has to see how much resin each part will use, in order to figure out a fair price. A lot of work has gone into making this. I think there'll be three options: knobs only, faceplate & knobs, and the full kit which will include parts to make the box of the radio, switches, and things like that. Its really up to Crashmann to decide the prices and the kits he'll offer since he is the one doing the creation of the parts and processing the orders and such.

We took some killer videos last night of the mold making process. It was way more involved than I thought. The mold will be done this evening and he'll pour the first resin copy, so I'd expect pics from him late tonight or tomorrow.

  4. it is a really great radio Nol it will be a great add.

can't wait to see it fixed on your pack.

i missed the mike run in 2009.

my new hope is on the new zenix/crashmann radio.

    i cross my fingers! ;)

I wonder if we can attach the knobs in a way that makes them spinnable! for the switches, i'm sure you can just install actual switches behind the faceplate. like drill out the ovals on the left and glue in real switches. it wouldn't even be hard to make them actually turn on and off circuits. If i was goin dirty, i'd def do that. I just applied yesterday for my clean TK for the 501st!

  5. Freaking great!!! radio bro, its the TD-1536 radio right.

Hope the new Crashman radios will turn up all most as nice, i guess not as sharp, because yours are in resin, the the others will be in black hips.

CanĀ“t wait to see it add to your pack asap.

    Cheers :)

new radio's box will be black hips but the faceplate is resin.. it'll be very sharp. like that one, but more accurate dimensions/proportions

I don't see any flaws, do you? The large rings around the knobs are only going to be on the masters. They are there to help with the resin pouring process.

If anyone needs any other parts modeled, don't hesitate to contact me. they'll get done much faster than this. Since the radio was such an important part, I wanted it to be perfect.
