Incredible work Scorch! Thanks for sharing those! All your guns look great by the way!

Looks fantastic brotha. Definitely nice work on the tubing and a great idea. I have the site on mine still as well, looks great in my opinion. Top notch work!
-
Thanks guys for all the encouragement! I'm happy to hear you like the paint Chuck I think I was most concerned with how you felt about the way I dressed up your work! Thanks for taking the time to tell me you're pleased with my efforts

Thanks for the compliment Dirty!
Looks great! How did you make it look like the metal was wearing through the black paint?
Hey Zon, I'm actually putting together a tutorial on my painting technique for the blaster and I'll have it on my website soon. Thanks for asking about it! In the meantime, I will tell you that first off, it's several layers of paint and some clear coat. I painted black a couple of times, then I used a spray can of automotive paint to paint the gun metal silver color ( a couple of coats )... then more layers of black on top. Then steel wool to rough up all the edges to remove black paint and let the metal shine through... went through 5 fine steel wool pads to do this. Then I took a fine paint brush and touched up the edges were the sanding didn't give the desired effect. After it looked nice and I added a few battle damage scratches, it needed two coats of clear coat paint on top to give the shiny metal effect. And by the way, the black paint I used was "satin" which is semi gloss. I'll come back and share the link to my tutorial once I have the full write up done. It was a blast painting it!

Hey guys,
I was lucky enough to get myself one of The Woodchuck's T-21 blaster rifles and I had myself a grand time painting it. Guys, I really recommend this weapon to any of you. The Woodchuck's work is top notch. So, here are some shots of my firearm. I hope you enjoy them!
If you want to see more, you can see all 15 shots of it on my website DirtyImperial.com
Let me know what you think!

I received my Blastech T-21 from Woodchuck yesterday and it is a marvelous beauty! Anyone looking to get one should definitely get your name on a list. I'm completely thrilled with mine. I'll share some pics later but guys I'm telling ya, there are a multitude of tiny, fine-crafted details on this baby!

Thank you so much for your input gentlemen. It's much appreciated. I'm pretty sure I'll end up going with a strapping system since it's becoming clear that the sew on idea I have isn't very practical with the undersuit I have. I think it would be much more feasible when building a different type of costume, like for a bounty hunter that would use a different type of undersuit.
Thanks again!

Super valid point Grit. Thanks for sharing that broto stop the body stoking from looking weerd you might have to pad out each bit of armor to your body so that on the bits that are seen of the stoking they aren't stretching to the inside of your armor
-
have you thought about just using the traditional strapping method?
I thought about it for sure and I've found some really sweet setups that you guys have all come up with and some good tutorials too: It's just that when I close my eyes to lay down at night, my "thinker" is whirring up full speed trying to discover the method that would require the least amount of effort to suit up in. Not just that either, I think if there's a great way to pull off what I'm thinking of, the armor would seem more like a complete suit that you step in to which I think is probably the way it would really be if Sci-Fi were here and now. Not sure if I'm making much sense but wouldn't it be great if you could just slip into your jump suit and then attach each piece in a matter of moments?
-
Hey guys, I've got a great undersuit (a thin wetsuit) that looks small but manages to stretch for me to fit into it snuggly. I'm pretty sure that's how these wet suits are supposed to be: But what I would like to do is sew velcro onto the suit to attach my armor pieces to. I'm only worried about whether or not this will actually work since the suit stretches. I'm assuming it will attempt to stretch while putting it on but that the stitching of the sewn on velcro will resist the stretch and rip the suit. If any of you guys our there are the sewing type with any feedback on this idea, please share your knowledge. Thanks!
Alternately, is there a safe way to install button snaps on a stretchy wet suit?

Hey guys,
Jason here. I registered on the site nearly two years ago when I began to buy and build pieces to suit up as a TD. Had several huge changes in work and relocation and here I am two years later finally making progress with my Sandy. I'll be around the forums reading all of the tips and knowledge you guys share and when I have something worthwhile to say, I'll share it.
Thanks guys!

Troops - Added verbage at the bottom and bigger frown on the trooper.....
I was gonna give this a go but man... I think this IS the coin. I love it, hands down!
Can't wait to sign up for some of these!

Goro already made one;

That is amazing to the hundreth power!
-
my new back pack i need weathering for finish... and new pictures in armor
Looks awesome bro! Very cool to see!
-
That WOULD be cool actually. YOu know, it seems a long way off still but I would like to have a Dewback prop one day that could be trailer transported to events for awesome photo opportunities. At least if there was a section, we may have some people willing to give a go at constructing them.
And yeah, it could be helpfull finding an artisan or go to place for the prods. Although I think they could be rather easily replicated. Not too much to them.

Welcome Glenn,
I'm a newb myself but nice to have ya along man
-
Looks awesome in my opinion bro! Looks like a lot of work too! I'll keep my eyes open for you next one!

The law was made somewhere in the 60's If my memory serves me well.
They have sharpened the rules throughout the years, and replica's are a big no, no over here. The penalty's for owning such a weapon are even higher then when you own a demilitarised one..
When it looks like a real gun it's illegal, simple as that. <_<
But I think that the rules applied here are the strictest in Europe, strange though...you can smoke weed and buy it in so called coffeeshops but ownig a rubber or plastic gun/ blaster is illegal
Yeah man, that's completely off balanced laws. I found the thread where you guys were talking about the guns that were lifted from the garrison by law enforcement. That's just awfully stupid but I hope it'll turn out alright with some good media attention. At least for future generations maybe a change in the laws could be expected. Sorry about the missfortunes you guys have to deal with :/

I'm at work now on a network that has lots of protective measures that usually keep images hidden from me so I can't really see if there've been any ideas posted here yet... But, I am an artist and I could definitely give a go at designing a coin. I designed a few while I was in military service. Love those things
-
I would like to add though, is that even though I have been, well kinda defending the SE Trooper, I don't like it and prefer the OT...
After all the close comparison and referencing I must say I prefer the original TD as well. But I do like a receptive and open club though so it's been nice to get all the point of views.
-
Thats an awesome troop. Looks hella cool. I look forward to getting some of this action myself
-
Man, that's a total bummer! So what was the law that was passed that's keeping you from being able to do this Dutchy? Is it a new law unique to your country or something like that? I find it really strange that they'd make it illegal to build guns that have no moving parts
Dirty D's - Adobe Illustrator Vector Sandtrooper Art
in Off Topic Cantina
Posted
Hey guys,
I just started experimenting with Adobe Illustrator. I drew a circle with lighting effects and a couple of shapes on the same page to get warmed up and then I drew my very first piece of Illustrator Art: This cartoony version of a sandtrooper. Meet Dirty D
