  1. Sheesh... I was just standing next to that land speeder (in FULL TD armor, white pauldron) a little over a month ago and never even noticed those! So close, yet sooooo far!!! I think it's a safe bet that it's WWII military surplus/junk, whether it's a British or U.S. design... God only knows!
  2. WOW!! That is THE cleanest looking Sterling I have EVER seen! I snagged the full sized photos for future reference.... thanks! That's pretty danged close to the finish I'm getting with that painting technique I described. Mel (aka Avatarman) has one of my folding stocks and can attest to the finish on it.
  3. They are resin casts using Smooth-Cast 325 with black tinting already mixed into it, I could cast a few extras when I get some time. The price would be $10.00 each (includes shipping and PayPal fees) which would keep it reasonably fair for you, and be worth my time to deal with it. Just shoot me a PM if you're interested!
  4. It starts out all nice and fresh looking, but my E-11's weather pretty nicely and get that worn satin look in places lending an even more "SW used" look to them. Although I don't think you would be trooping with this piece once completed due to the heft of it. You can "distress" the finish and rub your hands over it in various places which casues a "used" look... that workd pretty good for me.
  5. Great idea, and nice work!! I have a garrison mate's real deactivated Sterling SMG in my work shop (gonna cast that sucker for future projects!!) and I was contemplating what technique to use to "fill in" the ejection port, I think I'll do what you did. I'm going to pimp his out in the ANH version for letting me borrow it for pretty much as long as I need it.... woo hoo! Another thing... the MR E-11 is actually heavier that teh real Sterling!
  6. That's a horrible MG-34... you should send it to me!!
  7. Hey Ward, Two things I have observed: 1. The trigger guard on your Sterling looks like it may be "smooshed" in a bit giving it a slightly more oval shape that it should have. 2. The eagle logo on your Hengstler is covered up by front "cap", mine is exposed when fully assembled, as a "window" is molded into that cap, yours appears to be a "modern" cap, and looks like the one on my "plain version" Hengstler. 3. I achieve the "parkerized" finish using Rustoleum "Professional" flat black (the stuff in the silver can) by holding it back just as far as the spray pattern will allow while still coating the piece. As the paint is atomized from the tip and flying through the air it partially dries before landing on the piece being painted. You just layer it on letting it dry in between coats. If you let it cure for 1-2 weeks it really does make for a pretty durable finish at a "low" cost!
  8. Here's some photos of replicas that I have made. The "real word" parts are THE mystery of the SW age!!
  9. LOL... thanks for the cheers guys... progress slowly continues on the E-11's!! It's fraking COLD here and my shop is unheated... there's nothing like trying to get resins and epoxies to cure when you can see your breath fogging up the place!! I have a modded MR E-11 (they are too HEAVY to troop with) I never considered buying an MR E-11 but this one had an Eagle Logo Hengstler Counter, and screen accurate power cylinders on it, so I snagged if for an outreageously expensive price! I had my reasons for paying the king's ransom for it, and as a matter of fact I posted pictures on my E-11 thread of the casts I made of those screen accurate parts as they will be incorporated into this current run I'm doing! Here's a photo of my modded MR (It realy weighs a LOT): Here's a photo of one of my scratch built E-11's w/o the latest screen accurate parts yet (It weighs a smidge over 3 pounds):
  10. ***UPDATE*** Siiiigh..... ok Troops yet another "OMG, this will make a HUGE improvement" after thought, and yet more photos of the end results. One reason I'm taking so danged long to get these out the door is when I first thought this project through, I had certain established construction methods and materials established. As I have been mass producing all these parts, I keep finding better ways to either make a part, or improve the details. This latest part is a combination of the way I have always built these, combined with a casting I took of a REAL Stering SMG that's sitting in my workshop! The result is a MUCH more accurate muzzle! Like I've said more than a few times, the wait WILL BE worth it! These pictures are of the new & improved muzzle that is 5 minutes from the mold.... I think I like it!!
  11. LOL... well ching-ching can oftern lead to Ka-Ching if done properly!! ps. Guns, I'm actually starting to assemble some E-11's now, YOURS is in progress!
  12. I'm a grand master in "ching-ching"... you know... when you pull the bolt back to jack in a round!
  13. As the thread title says... I scored a real MG-34 bipod. I plan to make castings of it and sell them for reasonable prices, as I believe this is the toughest part to acurately replicate for us scratch builder guys! This doesn't look like a very easy part to make a mold around, I'll have to study it and determine the best orientation to use... stay tuned. p.s. Clutch, when I get to that point I'll send you a casting of it so you can get a feel for the results of how maybe yours may turn out!
  14. Rob, I think you should be called Darth Dandie!! I'll be Darth Wanker!!
  15. I understand what you mean Boingo!! LOL... but being a newbie is NO EXCUSE for buying something like that. I was once a no nothing newbie and I NEVER would have even considered that POS!!
  16. Ask and ye SHALL receive!! He has a right to do that, but if you want to stop him from selling, DON'T BUY IT!!
  17. Here's a photo of all the pistol grips I made today. It used to take me almost as long to make ONE pistol grip from a piece of maple wood when I first started making E-11's:
  18. ***UPDATE*** Once again Troops, I appreciate your patience and continued support in this project! I'm now castsing the pistol grips, and currently have TEN molded up with one more curing in the mold! With the bit of extra resin left over from each pour, I'm pouring a Hovi-Mix Aerator as well, so I'll have a few of those available as well! I'm thinking $10 (includes shipping to USA & PayPal) for just the areator body without the screens or screws, and $20 (includes shipping to USA & PayPal) fully assembled and ready to install onto your bucket... but THAT will be a subject for a seperate thread when I have enough stock ready to offer. I'm taking the next two days off from work, so I'll post pictures tomorrow when I plan to have most if not all of the pistol grips finished, then it's time to start assembling some of these bad boys!!
  19. That's it right there... troopers not wanting to shell out for two kits, they (understandably because of the cost) want a Dual Purpose armor kit, but alas the differences are too many to pull it off properly. I started as a nice clean TK, got into the 501st, then promptly bought another armor kit and achieved deployed TD status here! Although I totally dig the TK armor in it's own right, out of the DOZENS of trooping events I have done I have only trooped as a TK once, and that was because my TD wasn't presentable. I guess it's the Infantry Grunt in me that takes pride in looking like a working trooper...instead of a REMF!! I'm going to build a custom, poseable mannequin to display my TK armor in my office... eventually. (and NO pauldron will EVER be affixed to it )
  20. So who're YOU calling a Nerd? POINTDEXTER FOR PRESIDENT!!
  21. ***UPDATE*** Troops, I appreciate your patience... I know I'm about a month behind, but here are some photos of the "movie accurate" eagle version Hengstler Counter. This is by far the most difficult part to cast properly without a vacuum chamber (that's on my to do list as well). Like I said, I DO appreciate everyone's patience!! These E-11's are going to be just that much better than when I first embarked on this project, and the additional waiting will be worth it... I PROMISE!! This one is literally 15 minutes fresh from the mold... NO PAINT!!
  22. Yeah, this is not being thought through very well IMHO... It would be so friken easy to just give a "Heavy Weapons Trooper" a "TH" or a "TW" designation! Take THAT suggestion to the Legion Council!
