  1. Really?? I think the problem is that we have come to expect Hasbro to put a well crafted figure by now, and this looks like they weren't even trying. The very first Sandtrooper from 1996 was miles ahead of this one and he had a stupid pose and a buff chestplate. This should be called the 501st "look I bought a pauldron and a backpack so now I'm a Sandtrooper" figure.
  2. Anyone see any problems with the new Sandtrooper being issued by Hasbro this year? What does the MEPD Deployment officer say about this new recruit? (At least they didn't color in his Ab buttons)
  3. My mother had one in her basement. She doesn't throw anything away Which way is it supposed to be mounted on the backpack? Button in or out?
  4. Cool pic, but it leaves off the Stormtrooper Commander (Cmdr Praji, seen on the Tantive talking about the DS Plans). He is wearing a single row of four blue followed by 2 red.
  5. I say Lewis, it's the most prominent gun when they talk to Garindan, and when they enter Docking Bay 94. Not to mention you know it can take out a sandcrawler.
  6. Cool pack !! Do yuo have a "shopping list" of the parts you bought. The tackle boxes look like a good idea, are you able to use them for storage while wearing the pack? I'm most curious what you used to create the radio box and the U-shaped "pump". I think I can identify most of the other pieces.
  7. Another idea is to try to glue the "snap" piece to the thigh armor with a different adhesive. Something like JB Weld or one of the 2-part "welder" epoxies should give a pretty tight grip on the snap.
  8. I am not looking for anything special. I just need to see how the seams are supposed to line up and what the final product should look like. I'll work on re-sizing them after. I just want to make sure I don't glue them "upside down" or something.
  9. I've got my trimmed pieces to finish my TD, but I am not sure which way they need to go together. They will need to be shimmed (a lot!) but I want the "fronts" to look right. Could someone post their pics of how these three sets of pieces went together so I know how to line everything up?
  10. 1 inch = 2.54 cm Or you can buy a metric ruler and save yourself on all the conversions.
  11. What program do you use to overlay the photos and graphics on the animation? I would love to do something like that but I would need to work on a concept first. My two costumes are snowtrooper and Vader, and I want to do those pics overlaid on maybe shots of one of Vader's duels from the OT.
  12. Thanks all! Unfortunately no Vaders at SWW since Disney provides theirs. Only troop characters and obscure "face" characters (Dengar, Zuckuss, etc.) Probably use the Snowtrooper for that.
  13. 501st requirements of TD admission are: TD- Trooper, Desert Trooper / Sand Trooper To be posted as a Desert Trooper/Sandtrooper on 501st.com, a member must have: A Pauldron, Field Pack, and 1 other item from the following list: dirty armor modified armor (modified knee plate, abdomen, flat lenses, etc.) dewback prod/MG34/MG15/lewis gun or other similarly styled BFG ammo pouches So you need to have the pack to be a 501st TD. MEPD requirements are more stringent than those. If no pack = TK
  14. Thanks for the love guys! Who knows what the future might bring, but I had an awesome opportunity, and who can deny being Vader. I mean a 6'3" sandtrooper doesn't look right, but I am almost to a 6'6" Vader. I will lurk here as well since you guys embraced me when I first started out, and I enjoy seeing everyone's trip to the dirt side.
  15. Just wanted to let everyone know that I will not be joining the ranks of the MEPD after all Turns out I got a great deal on an ROTS Vader costume, but I must give up the TD to keep the wife somewhat happy. So I will be selling my armor soon. If anyone is in the market for XXL sandtrooper armor (I will be throwing in almost everything to make you MEPD ready, pauldrons (2), Resin Lewis, Alice Frame), let me know. I will probably have pictures and everything up this weekend. Note this is for someone probably 6'3" or greater and and around 250-300 lbs.
  16. The guys in Tampa Bay have a similar situation where they have their "Dirty Boys" group.
  17. I agree with TD-8020 There are lighter alternatives to both, so weight should not be an issue. Plus no one is forcing anybody to wear all their gear every day. MEPD deployment requires everyone to possess these items, not necessarily carry them 24/7. I say keep it the way it is, and I am a big proponent of having dirt, ab plate and sniper knee be 501st requirements for TD's
  18. One other point, aren't charity events required at the 501st level? It is redundant to require it again correct? And who decides what a charity event is?
  19. If BFG's aren't required for Patrol, you need to edit your squad logo I think this proposal falls short in two areas: First, we already have a detachment for Sandtroopers. Two detachments would only lead to confusion, and perhaps a splintering of the group here Second, anyone who does not meet the standards for an MEPD TD can still meet the 501st definition of a TD, or be happy as a plain old TK. There is no need for more specialized groupings. What's next, a detachment of sandtroopers who prefer to carry dewback prods instead of BFGs? A squad of confused sandtroopers who like to wear pauldrons on their left shoulders? And I disagree that the BFG and backpack are the toughest requirements of the MEPD. I believe they are the dirt and the ab plate. Specifically because these are two (generally) unchangeable options. Once you have dirt and an ab plate, IMHO you are a sandtrooper, never mind what's in your hand or on your back. It's real easy for a TK to grab a big gun, pauldron and backpack and be "Mr. TD" today, and throw them back in the closet and be "Mr. TK" tomorrow. MEPD are dedicated to be sandtroopers.
  20. I take it you've been emailing Luis Irigoyen (CO for Mexican Outpost). Have you tried emailing Dean Plantamura (tuskentrooper) (tusken@multiplehat.com) as he is listed in the Mexico Outpost list as a possible contact. He may be able to help you out, or get you another contact.
  21. I saw your problems in the other thread. I think you would do good to contact your Garrison membership officer, or your CO. If you have submitted your pictures and information, you should receive email notification of your membership. Mine was literally 24 hours from pictures to TKID, and I am already in the database.
  22. Hey all Everyone might remember my saga which I relayed to this board regarding a 501st double standard. Well I am at the end of my long road, and am not an official member of the 501st. I am now TS/TD-7197! I want to thank those that deviated from normal MEPD/Sandtrooping conversations to help me out. Next step is to finish up the details and get my MEPD assignment.
  23. Congratulations! What a big baby! Hope everyone is doing great! So what did you name her? Leia or Padme?
  24. Yes hook us up!. The barrel would be fairly easy to make for the Lewis, with some PVC pipe, reducers and making the cooling rings.
