Hi Gang, and yes I'm still offering backpack kits. As parts have been identified and new sources found, the backpack kit has continued to evolve. I'm not nearly as busy as Dirty Boy or Quartermaster, but I'm still able to help the supply lines
Here's a photo gallery of the Sandtrooper Backpack Kit:
http://tk386.com/sandtrooper_backpack_kit
The Wet Ones bottles have been replaced with plain white bottles. Time for another photo session
Here's a video of me and Seth B pulling parts for the backpack kits on my old vacuum forming table way back when the garage was new (2007):
The garage is a little messier now

I got my 10" patches yesterday and they are fantastic!
Thanks Gordon!

Is the lid about 5" or 6 " ? The one I have seems a bit small compared to the pics .
It depends on who you ask
There are two Tupperware pitcher lids available. One is a little over 4" and the other is 5"
Some folks strongly believe the smaller lids were used on screen. Others think it was the larger lid.
I don't think we'll ever have the resolution in the screen captures to make a definitive measurement and declare which size was used. You could use the tube as a reference point, and declare it is a 2" diameter. However, that would be a 2" inner diameter. How thick was the wall of the tube? Is it 2 1/4" outside diameter, or 2 1/2" ?
Just like the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know

Needs more lens flare!

To mount the radar dish to the pipe, I use a 1/4" x 3/4" screw with an acorn nut painted white.
Surrounding the dish should be a 1/8" (maybe as big as a 1/4" ) black lip, just slightly larger than the ribbed lid.
There's a ton of great reference photos for the backpack here:

Celebration VI has been a blast!
It's really cool to finally talk to folks in person, without having to use a keyboard
Here's a few pictures I've taken so far:

I'll need to get more sandy pictures tomorrow...

I was able to capture the Space Shuttle Discovery circling Washington DC yesterday and have posted the video on YouTube:
Enjoy!

I've got a bunch of mortar control panels in the garage. They're rather challenging to pull of the mold since the detail for the fins is really defined and they don't want to let go. Sometimes they don't survive the demolding process. I leave them a little long so that you can match the length of the particular pack you are recreating.
They are pulled in white ABS, not brittle HIPS.
Here's my reference photo:
$10 plus shipping for the mortar control panel.
The end caps are an additional $10.

Wow, really cool find on the plastic bottles! Once I use up my remaining Wet Ones, I'll be sure to add them to my kits. Now what should I do with that lifetime supply of Wet Ones wipes...
The actual part for the exhaust port has not been identified. I pull it on the vac table, but it always has some webbing that shows up. Not a big deal, but it requires some sanding to smooth out.
I like your motor oil bottle idea. With a little trimming and gluing, that should make a fine housing. Just be sure to clean all of the oil out, otherwise the glue won't stick. The most tedious part of the housing is gluing on those tiny 45° triangles.

How about Skaught? Every shirt run in the Legion goes through him. He does a great job managing the runs, collecting and tracking payments, and shipping out expeditiously!
I don't know what his workload is like, but I wholeheartedly recommend contacting him if you're considering doing a run.
Oh, and I'm ready for a new MEPD tshirt

Mike is still active in the costuming world. The last few troops have seen him sporting his amazing Commander Gree. He just recently completed another amazing outfit from another sci-fi universe, Scott Bernard in Cyclone Ride Armor from Robotech, The Next Generation:

As usual, everything Mike touches turns out awesome!

Nice work Graham!
It looks like you're doing the big air filter backpack. It should be a sweet build when you're done

Hi Henrik!
I'd be happy to supply you with seed trays for your backpack (as well as other parts if needed )
The trays that I offer are 13 1/4" x 8 3/4" at their widest:
At the narrowest, they are 10 3/4" x 6 3/4"
Each tray is 2 3/4" tall. When stacked, they are 5 1/2" thick.
Be sure to check out this cool technique from PandaTrooper to seamlessly mount the seed trays to your backpack:

I'll send you a message so we can sort out the details of pricing and shipping.

Congratulations Daniel!
Your hard work and attention to detail really makes your dirty armor shine
You will be sure to get all the Slave Leia's with that backpack

That is one handsome set of armor you've got, and a very sexy backpack
Lord Vader will be most pleased with your attention to detail

Very nice work Jay. That is downright handsome!

If you study the screen captures, you'll see that the parts have a hint of shine to them. I found flat black was just too dull. Gloss black was too shiny. So, you've gotta meet in the middle with semi-gloss or "satin"
Or, you could make it mostly satin with some parts flat black for contrast, kind of like the silver on Darth Vader's helmet.

That's an amazing looking pinewood racer! Imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery, so we will certainly be flattering you next year
Last year we made the General Lee
This year we represented our Kung Fu studio
We also talked about holding an adults unlimited racing event, where the only restriction is the 5 ounce weight limit. We might even turn it into a fund raiser

I vaguely recall someone making the hamburger stacker dome from a PVC plumbing cap. Then again, I could be imagining things
I'd be happy to send one to you. Look for a private messaage.
