  1. Buyer protection sounds great but.....it's always been posted in every F/S section Legion wide buyr assumes all responsiblity. this would be adding Legion accountability to the transactions. The person holding the money would of course be a senoir Legion member of course then if something goes wrong(and it will, it always does and cant be helped) then the problem lands in the lap of the Legion.

While it's a perfectly logical idea my feeling is if someone feels iffy about a transaction then they should do some research on the seller, ask around about them. This is also a point to bring up since these would be higher priced transactions they would strain someones PP account too. PP has begun reporting to the IRS this year and after a 200 transaction limit you begin to be responsible for someone elses taxes.

The base question to be answered also is would this even be something the Legion would approve of and allow as a part of the detattchment.

Rick please dont think I'm trying to shoot holes in your idea just playing devils advocate.

  2. Resin

Pic don't show it very well the eye piece is made to small

If I trim the main body I will just destroy it

Some how I have to add material to it but that's a ton of work

May just trash it lesson learned

Don't buy stuff from people that only have 1 or 2 posts as they don't have time invested in this site

Hey mark Bradley has been making and selling props to the community for years. The eyepiece should be the correct size since they are cast from a real rangefinder. The first pics in his post show the are you are pointing out and it doesnt lineup there either. Dont take the doopydoos version as how its suppose to be since it is not cast from the real rangefinder. Dont dispare man they'll look great when you finish painting them.
  3. Yes the new "The Thing" movie is the story of the Norweigian camp before the happenings in Carpenters film which itself was a remake of the film "The thing from another world" I dont mind these rmakes either some are awful and some great and you're very right HOLLYWOOD IS OUT OF IDEAS!

  4. here is the Si-Man beside my weathered AP and the recast winner I got off Ebay a long time ago. They all have a different back/dome. The Si-Man does have "somewhat" of a bumpy dome in the front but lacks the Gino bumps in back.

Please understand I am not as well versed as most of you guys so I am just telling you what I see. The recast lid has all the same bumps and warts as the one Gino helmet though they are of course super soft looking. I cicled them one time until I got bored doing it so they all matched up. The bondo you see is where the helmet was poorly trimmed when I got it and had to add some plastic. Enought jabbering from me there are some size differences for sure.Posted Image

  5. I got my Si-Man helmet today. I love it. My camera skill is poor to say the least i wish I could take better pics for everyone. I did take a side bt side with my Grant McHune Fett lid since they are both screen connected. I opted for the HIPS since I am going to paint it anyway. It is a very good thickness too. I didnt do the assembly so if it is wrong the original holes were wrong cause it's put together in them. I am nervous about trimming the ears but I am a big boy I think I'll be alright, lol. The kit came with everything also right down to the foam having the star shape drawn on it in marker.
