  1. Thanks guys. It's not 100% accurate but with a little more work it could be closer. This really was just a test and proof of concept. I'm going to take a little time off and enjoy some Trooping then get back to it this winter I hope. I plan on re-doing the whole back pack.

Thanks again and I hope this can give someone else some ideas until we find a real Sonix radio.

  2. Thanks for the response,

I'll get some pics of the buttons and straps soon. As for the shoulder pouch goes. I was going for the Sergent Cantina with pack #5. I thought it was changed to no shoulder pouch. If I need to add it I can, I have one just didn't put it on because of the recent change to that version not having one.

And as the pack goes do you think I need to make those changes or will I still meet the requirements. If so I will change things just might take a little time to rebuild the whole pack.

Thanks again and I'll get those pictures in soon.

  3. This is what I did to make my Sonix Victory 75. I stated with Post Office mailer box that was just about the right size. I had to cut it down just a little. Then I covered it with aluminum tape to give it some strength.

I then started cutting the pieces out by using plastic signs. I glued them all to the box and then drilled the details and added little nails.

I used the bottom of a aluminum can for the dial detail and cut the lens cover out of a cd case. The dials are from pill bottles and 5 hr. power drinks. I heated up the biggest dial and pushed the smaller one down on it to give it some depth.

The main speaker design was created by gluing the template to the plastic then cutting it out like a sun shape and added a 35 mm can cap in the center and separated the plastic to give it the desired shape. (Soaked it in mineral spirts to remove the paper from the plastic.)

Primed it and painted it, added some small details, weathering and there you go. Oh and I added a broken antenna and the side jacks just for the fun of it.

Sorry I didn't take pictures as I went along, when I get into a project i tend to just role with it.

I used these plans. Here Thanks apeers.

well i hope this give you all some ides of what might work. I do plan on making another one and more accurate as I can.

I also added a mP3 player that has the Trooper chatter on it. Then I attached the whole thing with industrial velcro to the pack.

  4. Hey Juan if you ever get stuck again, give me a call....I'll bring my H2 down to get you out :D :D :D just kidding....for those who dont know there is a huge HUMMER/JEEP rivalry in the off road world.

cool picks and I voted for you bro :)

    Hey Rick my plate reads

    NTAHMR

What rivalry, my buddy has a Hummer and I went and got the plate and parked right next to him.

  5. Here is a nice little video with some behind the scenes info. Kurtz seems to be surprised by the popularity of the movie at the end of the interview....

    Here is the Link

I enjoy this kind of stuff. I'm in the process of reading the Making of Star Wars book. This ties in nicely.

“Will this be the beginning of a new trend of movies?,” Carolyn Jackson asks Star Wars producer, Gary Kurtz. The two discuss several aspects of the upcoming film’s production, including reasons for filming in Africa, and why the film is considered low-budget, despite the 9.5 million dollar price tag. Kurtz also discusses technical details, special effects, and his philosophy of what makes a good sequel

(info taken from the site about the interview)

  6. So, what maker is your radio?

I am. It's made out of card board, and plastic signs. I used pill bottle caps for the dials and 5hr energy for the small ones. Small nails drilled and nailed for the ends of the plastic. The end of a soda can for the inside dial. I'll try to take some finished pictures soon.

    Glad you like it.

I added more details on the finished piece.

It's my first attempt, the dimensions might be off a little. I'll get it right the next time.

  7. Took some time to finally get some pictures taken to submit for approval of the TD. I think I have it pretty close. I went with the Catina Sergent Pack #5. I saw that the shoulder pouch was not needed so I removed it. What do you think, before I send in for approval?

Thanks to everyone here for all the help and inspiration to get this TD added to the ranks soon. I'll try to take some individual pictures of the armor pieces if you all are interested.

  8. You bet, I'll post more as soon as I can get them together. After all of the extra work to get it to fit together I think it turn out pretty good. Ground Pounder we could be twins....LOL! Is all your armor TE2? My helmet is a AP and the body is VT.

More soon. Looking forward to joining the ranks of the MEPD and getting deployed.

  9. Okay, Well I started this as a build thread then I just got into it and didn't take the time to take pictures. Really it was a basic build however there was a lot and I mean a lot of messaging done to make this armor fit. I will do my best to get some close up shots of the finished armor soon. I need to get my pictures into the 501st for approval and then I would like to get the blessings here.

I was very happy to get this together and just in time to help my garrison out with the kick off for the Salvation Army Bell ringing.

Not the greatest pictures but you can get a basic idea of the over all look. Still need to do some tweaking on my pouches to get them to hang right on my belt (no biggie).

It was very cold and I did learn a lesson. Just when you think you might have enough under armor on.....add a layer!

  10. Okay Troops more questions. I put my version together but I need advice on what type of filter to use. Is it a Tractor filter cartridge or a Truck Filter with the outer metal skin removed. How about a vacuum filter canister?

I made one by using tubing and a plastic canister. Looks okay for now but I want to get it right.

Any ideas... it's really hard to tell from the screen grabs I've seen.

    Anyone?

  11. I have to ask what is the opinion on the Cheese Graters.

Which trooper wore them and if they did is it on both hands. I've seen different versions of the grates also. Some with spikes and some with oblong indention.

I just finished up my TD and I went with the Sergent Cantina Pack #5, I have other options and was just wandering where the grater fit in.

Thanks for the info in advance. I'll be posting pics soon of the finished armor.

  12. I stared out with a cheap wally world voice changer. Then I tried a gas mask mic I had heard about. I now have a Rom/FX as you may have seen here.

    I rank it like this:

    Good

    Better

    The BEST!

You will not go wrong with the Rom/FX, it completes your hard work and makes it a enjoyable piece of armor. :duim:
