Then i tone it down, while trying to keep the 'cloth wipe' visible

(Had to put this one bigger, idk why i cant zoom in)

The same weathering(different helmet), with more contrast and darken on the photo

I'm trying to get the look on the photo you posted :woot:

But if i ever doing it again, i'll probably going to tone it down a wee bit more.....nah

Maybe this is the route you're after?

I'm using an enamel paint (not recommended lol, haven't looking for another option with the same 'characteristic' yet), cloth, and did some wipes with a brush

    Hope it helps :td:

  2. Hey guys, i received this couple of days ago!

    Photo%20Jan%2012%203%2031%2047%20PM.jpg

I don't know how accurate this is in size compare to the Gio Canteens, so here's my rough comparison using my Crashmann's radio faceplate and screenshot

    th_image_1.png

And with ruler...according to Seller of the Gio canteen on etsy, it measures 5,5"-7,5"

This one a bit less than that

    Comparison with the original Gio

The lid is different but it shouldn't be a problem. The cap chain hook also located differently, the label dentation too, but not so much, or maybe just because of the photo. Everything else is OK to me!!

Thanks again Brian for pointing out!! :salute:

I'm unable to manage go to the supplier over the weekend because the store is closed, i'll try to juggle around during week days

  3. I am the other member and I am in contact with the European supplier already which cares after custom fees and shipping costs for the part of the world. I am selling the exactly same canteens at the best affordable price I could get from them and offering a fair price for all the members (bare postage stamp's costs added for international shipping). I also have a mould of an original GioStyle style that I found on eBay with all the logos on it and I sell cast of it in sturdy Smooth-on D-65. But believe me it's way harder and time consuming make only one per time than get the brand new ones.

Supplier for the Lion Star? That's great!

Can you compare the two when you get yours with the original Gio? I wonder if they had differences in sizes etc

Thank you Erik if you can look into this. I found the supplier last year but no luck getting anything shipped out unless it was a a whole shipping container full. Yeah, it is quite cheap for sure if we can get them.if you can buy any cheaply, please let me know. Would love to buy a few.

    Good luck!

Please do message me if you have good news! Cheers!

By the way, yes I can open and view the web link you posted. But obviously the language is nothing I can read!

That link is one f the retailers i found online, and looks like its for real, i'm testing it by buying one first, still waiting for their confirmation for the availability then head for payment. Thanks for the info Brian!

If i got another supplier i'll be in touch, and see how they manage a overseas shipping or i'll send them myself.

And also if they're similar(except for the marking) with the original ones.

Sorry about the language  , thought the website is available to translate with google

    Be right back

    Edit:

Just called one of the suppliers, they have 1 box of them, that's 6 dozens mind you :woot:

hopefully i can come and see it for myself this weekend

  4. these helmets are true beauty!!! congrats guys for the work you have done.

i can't imagine what will be for an entire armor!!!

It is! there were many details i didn't see on other fan-made helmets, but then again the originals were unique one to another

Very nice helmet and paint job. Just wondering, since you didn't do any chipping, why paint the khaki colors first?

    Thanks a lot! ^_^ and why khaki......i have no idea....kidding!! :D

I made to replicate 'davin felth' 'look sir droids' sandtrooper helmet,as far as the reference available to me i haven't see any chipped paints on that helmet yet(or unclear),if there any new pics available and showing the chipped paints i just scratch it up,its harder than the usual chipping techniques though  but better be prepared

  5. There are a lot of build threads! :D

Check out the FISD as well...

Here's a build for the ATA bucket.

And, while it's not ATA, one of the best builds on record — that I know of — is the AP build by Stukatrooper here. It really shows how to trim, and so on.

True! B) there were lots of very helpful build threads

Dont forget on what is your goal for the armor as well(accuracy--proportions--comfort),then dig around and have fun with the build! :td: (i suggest that you take your time on building it,like it was the last armor you can ever get)

Goodluck Lasse, and don't forget to post your progress here

  6. Good for you! I started with the same kit as well... It was a total nightmare! LOL! :D But it turned out ok in the end. I wish there was a job where you could just build stormtrooper helmets all day. *sigh*

True! it was a nightmare! :P my hands often got stiff in the build process, nervous. Hey i saved all pics of your helmet! :woot:

    WOW!!!

    Great job Erik :duim:

You did a fantastic job on the assembly and paint work. What paints did you use?

    These are beautiful helmets

    Thank you sir!!

I used Krylon camouflage khaki for the cap,and ACE tan enamel for the faceplate...after painting i polished both with light polish then washing it with a soap to clear the polish a bit so the white paint can stick better..not bad to clear 'paint signs' and gave an illusion that it is made from a tan-colored material

I used NOW white to finish the job :pint1:

    Nice Bucket for sure bro!

    thanks a lot bro!!
