  1. nothing at all from ukg. sent an email too to all 3 gml people. silence......

    Lee

One day mate, ONE DAY! it's been....you do know that we all have lives outside the costuming community and we are not all sitting at our keyboards just waiting for someone to submit a costume clearance request.

I know that you're eager to get passed off and out there trooping, but come on fella, give us a bloody chance.

Patience mate, all good things come to those who wait :salute:

  2. Chaps

Please can you check if these pics will be ok for 501st clearance?

I have submitted a thread but been awaiting an ID - been about a week or so, before I can proceed.

As I purchased Nick's armour I have made minor adjustments but had to swap the shoulder bells over for the pics to hide the UKG decal, which was the advice, rather than remove

However, I have left the 'black tape' on the shoulder bell that Nick had on for SWAT. Is this a no-no for clearance?

    Ta guys

Lee, the UKG decal should have been removed by Nick when he sold it to you.

Please post an updated picture of both your bells back and front in your WIP / Pre-Clearance thread on the UKG as proof that this as been done.

The GML team will then review your submission.

  3. I find it truly amazing that the Command Staff (and some members) of this once great detachment let this guy openly promote his recast TM armour without bantering a eyelid.

Gone are the days when the prop and costuming World stod up for each other and policed themselfs to protect the work and good name of an important outstanding artist who is without doubt one of the most influential and knowledgable people that we've had the good fortune to have within our community.

    Sad times indeed

  4. a few more, just waiting on my gml now!!

Really?, that's strange, 'coz your submission isn't listed in the GML clearance section and I check it every day. Plus your 'last seen' record on the UKG says Thu Feb 21, 2013 so I'm not sure how you could be waiting for me or Mark to review it.

Look forward to seeing it when it finally come through mate

  5. Billy my old friend!!! :peace:

Great to hear that you will be attending it as well, wouldn't expect you to let this one slip.

And yes, a lot of cathing up...looking forward to it!!:woot:

ow...and I will be there the whole weekend as well...:pint1:

Oh dear,....watch out folks, this could all get RATHER messy

Great job on the pack so far mate, loving it

You may want to revist those strap brackets/holders on the radio mate, they're far too chunky

Loving the syphon mate, I did a similar thing years ago where every time I went into one of older offices (the bank had about 20 odd at the time) I'd lift the lid on the cistern and see if it was like the originals :D

Finally found one and tapped up the security guard and went back one weekend and changed it out for a new one,....sad I know :)

Keep up the great work matey

  8. ....could the 'Old Gang' be getting back together again?,......surely not!! Posted Image

(starts rummaging through boxes and boxes of plastic to find his OLD unfinshed sandie armour and pack Posted Image )

Good to have you back in the 'Zone' my old friend. We may not be able to recapture what we had,

but we can kick some a$$ showing them what we’ve still got. B)

  9. I use a combination of both (Humbrol & Testors) because I find some are more manageable then others.

Here's a guide/conversion table that I made up a good while back for TK helmets but as you know its

the same for TD's, you just get to save on the paint for all those pesky stipes in the traps and the Ab detailing :D

    Hope it helps :salute:

  10. Nick

Take your time and do it right and it should be a piece of cake. When we built the ‘TK-In-A-Day’ over

on the UKG, we built it up to EIB standards straight out of the box, no compromise, do it right from the start. Posted Image

Centurion / SWAT is the same principal, just make sure you cover off all the requirements as you go and you

should sail through mate. Posted Image

Good luck, and if you need anything then just holler Posted Image

  11. Tried to take pic with camera from phone.... Blech. Not good. I'll take some with the regular camera, and load em up tonight!

Now I wonder why that looks so familiar?,....errm?

Could be because it's my signiture banner that I designed way back when B)

Oh yerh, and not forgetting the T-Shirts that I had made up of it and gave out to selected

brothers and friends to share the 'Love'....good times, good times :)

  12. I haven’t posted for far too long, but hopefully that’s all gonna change from now on. :)

I used to have my ROM set up with LaunchPads speakers in my Hovis and a fixed stem Mic and it was all nicely contained in my lid.

Which was OK for inside and non crowded environments but just not loud enough when I was outside or getting busy amongst Joe Public

    at conventions and such.

I really didn’t want to put a speaker on my belt and I definitely didn’t want to have a million and one wires running from my helmet to my

armour so that the simple act of taking my lid off didn’t turn in to something resembling a SWAT team member trying to defuse a bomb

(red or green?,… red or green?,… red or green?,… )

So I came up with this B)

Its really simple. I’ve placed everything is in my chest and its all fixed with Velcro so I can pull it in and out for transit so it doesn’t get damaged.

I’ve put the ROM in a little pouch I made and push fit an old laptop ‘plug-in’ speaker that I beefed up with some trusty ol’ Nokia internals which

makes it nice and loud. The power comes from a rechargeable 9V that gives me roughly 6-7 hours but I always change it out when we stop for

lunch or a ‘Lids off’ break. Now we come to the Mic. Which is absolutely brilliant. Its a wire frame, light weight head set as used by fitness trainers.

The pick up is fantastic and crystal clear and this Bad Boy sits nice and neat under a balaclava as if you wasn’t wearing it. I must have tried at least

5 or 6 different types of Mics and this one is by far the best I’ve ever used. And I’m not the only one who thinks so because there must be at least

20 others guys in the UKG who are now using them.

I’m still playing around with going over to 12V and I have a few ideas to keep it nice and neat whilst keeping it as simple as possible

I hope this helps or at least gives a few ideas of at least one way to skin a cat :D

    :)

  13. Billhag, how do I go about doing that? What type of sand paper?

    Eric

I started off with 600 grit wet 'n' dry, then some 1200 and 2000. :)

Once all the parts were wet sanded I then polished every thing up.

Its hard bloody work but I'm happy with the result.

It reminds me of an old AP, not super shiney more like a dull gloss.

Here's the polish that I use, either one works just fine :duim:

  14. .....or you could try wet 'n' dry sanding it to a nice smooooth finish and polish

    that baby up B)
