  1. Yep. I know what you mean. I just wanted to share it with everyone. Saludos.
  2. Muchas gracias mi hermano! Thx a lot. I wanted to make a TD with just enough weathering to look like the movie. So hearing this is great! Saludos!
  3. Thx a lot my bros! I am very happy and hearing all these good feedback makes it even better! Now I just need to get rid of this hair and go trooping... LOL Saludos!
  4. Sounds VERY interesting... Anyway, TC1822 has made a clone armor out of hot glue (like from the hot glue guns for crafts). It is heavier than a regular HIPS or ABS, but it is super flexible. And I mean SUPER. And also has proven to be very durable too and easy to pack. Just check this out: (Saul, si algun día ves esto, espero que no te importe que te haga propaganda) Just don't leave it in your car on a hot day if you don't want it to melt. Saludos...
  5. Hey Bro! Good to see you here... I would suggest you to remove the Holster and speaker pouch... and maybe put the belt pouch on the other side for visual balance... Vientos y Bienvenido... Saludos
  6. THX a lot bro... I have been having nightmares about the bucket not matching the armor... LOL... I let everyone know how it goes... Ill start working on it in a few weeks anyway. Saludos..
  7. The paint job on the vents and frown looks great to me. I would say the weathering is a good first approach. I would try to make it look a little more sandy and a little less paint. A bit more like how the dome looks. But its starting to look good. Weathering is a tricky thing. And sometimes it will take many attempts. But its just an opinion, as has been said before weathering is a personal thing. Maybe check out Mike's weathering tutorial, its great. http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=4239 Hope it helps... Saludos.
  8. Thx! The seedtrays I got them from MrBoJangles from here... and there are a few other ppl making them. Just ask in the for sale section. Thx Man! This is really encouraging and rewarding... all the work payed off. The aditions to the radio faceplate are still work in progress, but yes, my intention is to make it look more similar to the real Sonix Victory 75. Im thinking on the brackets to hold the strap, the plug ports, the more detalied dials and some other stuff... Ill show it when I finish it. Anyway, I am very happy with the scratch built, but also super happy with the one made with your parts. Thx a lot bro! Thx... On the kit Pack I used the Rustoleum-American Accent Irish Blue , on the scratch built I used some oil based paint made to match the Pantone 290C and apply it with a brush. Got it at walmart. Thx a lot bro! It was a lot of fun!! Thx bro! It means a lot... Yep. I think next to the siphon, it was the most difficult and time consuming part. Thx a lot! Muchas Gracias hermano! Thx a lot bro!
  9. After a few months researching and looking for the right pieces I finally finished a made from scratch backpack. For this I used some stuff I picked up from the Home Depot, walmart, my grandmas kitchen and some local hardware store... The only things that are not scratch built are the seedtrays (from mrbojangles) and the mortar caps and controls (from chrashmann), and the tupperware lid (from my grandma's kitchen). It is not 100% accurate but was made thinking of almost all the details and trying to copy them with materiales widely available as PVC pipes, rubber bands, plastic "for sale" signs and other stuff.... This is how it came out. What do you think? *Edited: Here it its besides the pack I made with parts from Crashmann... looks kindof similar I think. *Edited: And this is it after the weathering job. Im still waiting and hoping for it to wear down naturally. Saludos...
  10. The hot glue issue happened to me when I assembled my first bucket. Luckily enough it was an FX kit, but anyway, a couple of years ago and being it my first helmet, I was really upset. Anyway, I think yours looks great, and the dome hot glue incident can only give it more character! Seriously, the bucket looks great! Dont worry much! Saludos
  11. I think you've got it Chaz! Agree 100%! These is what holds us together... compared to what holds them apart (and as stated by Art, holds the whole hobby down). Saludos...
  12. I must admit that I have not a real idea of who you are talking about, but can only imagine for a few threads I have read in this and some other forums... Anyway, as many other things I enjoy in life, I started prop building and impersonating a sandtrooper for a few reasons, being the most important of them all: to have fun. Im just starting to realize that there is whole new level (and world) in creating prop replicas that I didn't know existed. With all the super screen accurate armor makers and builders, and the business and money behind it. I guess everyone has a different reason to be in the hobby, too bad it is not always to enjoy it sharing with fellow fans and have fun. But I guess people is just people. For me, I really appreciate ppl like yourself and many others sharing all your top sites, valuable info, references and experiences with your own replicas and armors, as much as I appreciate ppl just starting in the hobby sharing their own experiences and work. It both makes me happy to be here and share. Anyway, thats me. Saludos...
  13. Its almost done now. Yesterday I finished the mortar tube and radar dish. Now it only needs the weathering and the strapping. Wanted to do the little details to make it more accurate like using the knot bolt for the radar dish and the little hole on the upper part of the tube. I think the controls are a bit too big, so i might adjust it a bit later... So, what do you think? Thanks for all your comments and help. Saludos
  14. Looks awesome! The hard work and time was worth it! Saludos
  15. Thanks a lot bro... I must say, it was not easy but I enjoyed the whole process a lot. Building props is as much fun (and sometimes even more fun) as wearing it. Thanks everyone for all your support and comments. So, although I liked it a lot and still waiting for the weekend to get some tan/brownish "fullers earth", I was not 100% happy with one thing: the brow. I wanted to make a helmet inspired in the Move Along Helmet. I knew that this beeing my first real helmet (I used to have an FX), it would be likely that it would not come all the way as a Replica... but hoped for a very similar look. But my helmet was put together as a regular TD (or maybe more like the Stop that Ship), but since I did not wanted to take it apart, I settled for it like that. But then, I thought why couldn't I aim for a more similar move along look... therefore, I trimmed a bit of the cap's edge. Not much, just a bit to make the brow curve and rise it... Risky, I know, but it came out fine I think... This is how it used to look, and this is how it looks now:: And larger images: And well... What do you think?? Saludos.
  16. Thanks a lot Bro... Hearing these great stuff makes me even happier with my pack... Since last update, I relocated the siphon/stacker cause it just didnt felt 100% right, and I took off the electricians tape from the toolbox rim and re-did the cross on it. I like it better now. And finally, I put a sticker on the radio box... I am still working in some of the accesories for the radio faceplate to make it more "real", and missing the mortar and radar dish... Thx for all the help and support. Saludos.
  17. Very interesting... Its good to know a bit more about you all. My job is like this: Pretty much all day long I just sit in my desk or with coworkers and boss and talk about cool things, about movies, about the simpsons, about tv commercials and about new stuff on the net. Then, we take all that we talked and put it into writing new TV commercials and advertising campaings... Im an Associated Creative Director in an Advertising Agency in Mexico City. My clients include beer, snacks, mobile phones, sunglasses, a stationary brand, and a milk co. The downside is the weird schedules, deadlines and super stressed clients... but, I like it. I am listed as a Mos Eisley Police Officer employed by the Galactic Empire over Facebook... hehe. Saludos.
  18. Thx bro! I like it but dont know if it will make it better or worse propwise. Well, its just photoshop. I am still thinking about it. Dont know if I will go all the way for real... Im a bit concerned about trying a better screen look, and that is just not accurate, so. Anyway, I like how you did the led thing. It looks awesome... Did you cut out the black part from below the decal or does light passes through it? (Do you know what I mean?) Thanks a lot!
  19. Thanks a lot bro! Having this comments is very encouraging. Thanks a lot Mike! The assembly was yours anyway. I just painted it and added the extras! Thanks a lot for that... Did I put the stripes wrong? LOL... I thought I counted several times how many the original prop had on each side to put them on... Anyway, Ill pm you in a minute... Thanks a lot for everything. Saludos...
  20. Thanks a lot for your comments! Its been a long process but Im very happy with the results... I must say that all the help from everyone here has been very very useful. Otherwise I know it would not have come out like this. Thanks for all the comments, ideas and support. Saludos
  21. THX pappy... I just thought it would be funny. I dont know if Ill do it anyway, probably not. If I could get a new faceplate more like the sonix one, I might do the signs to this one. But now for a while I guess... So this brings me another question: If the Sonix radio has all this signs, could it be that we just dont notice it on the film due to resolution, or were they painted black. Or maybe the radioboxes were not sonix radios but just replicas... I guess I will read the whole Sonix thread again in case I missed this... My blog is updated with my bucket, backpack and other stuff. Also, my facebook library has all the pictures of the building of them both... Didnt know you read my blog. Thanks a lot Saludos.
  22. I dont know if anyone has come with something like this before but... What do you think of trying to mimic the Sonix Radio faceplate but making it a bit more imperial?, like this: Do you think it would make it more cool, or would it just be a step backwards from accuracy? Saludos
  23. THX a lot bro... I did get Stomper's Hovis. They are great. I was lucky enough to get the built in speaker version so I will eventually connect them to an amplifier or something... Gracias! Saludos...
  24. So I finally finished my bucket and just yesterday I found the courage to weather it. I did it following Mike's tutorial video and tried my best. Used acrylic paint (black, yellow, brown), and some artificial sand for miniatures with hair spray. Here are the results. I am still not 100% convinced on the yellow. I think it is too much. I guess I will try and remove a bit of the yellow "sand" and maybe use just a bit of brownish or tan artificial "sand". Other than that, I think I am happy with the colors and texture. And although my armor is more blackish-grey than yellow-brown, I am planning to redo my armors weathering. I like the less is more approach, but I think I went a bit to far with the bucket. Maybe Ill try to remove a bit of color, or just waith till it wears down naturally. What do you think? Here is a picture or my armor, so your opinion on what to do to make the match (either on the bucket or on the armor) are more than welcome. Thanks a lot for all your help! And specially thanks to Mike for that great tutorial... Saludos
  25. Well, This is it I guess... Yesterday I finished the weathering and this is how it came. I still have a few doubts on how it looks, but I will post in the weathering section... Thanks a lot for all your comments, suggestions and compliments. They were great help. THX! Saludos
