  1. With seeing a few members were looking for certain numbers, I thought I would start a thread so people could post the numbers they have and are looking for.

I suggest you post with new info, and use PM to communicate with people who either have the number you want or you have a number they need.

    I am looking for #41

    I have #49 and #57

I know Chris Grace is looking for #13

If you have 41 or need either of the ones I have, please shoot me a PM.

(Also, if you happened to also request #41 and got it, please let me know. Then I can stop asking!!)

    Thanks.

  3. Quick question: Is the unit affilation for MEPD deployed only?

Nope. If you have a Legion approved TD, you are eligible to request affiliation in the MEPD on the Legion site. You do need to go to the Legion site, and click on the Membership DB link on the left side. There you will find at the bottom detachments you are eligible for. Select the MEPD and hit "register" I believe. You will be in a pending status until our DL approves you, but that does not take long.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Can I just ask why the only time we ever see GINO (I am capitalizing this because it is how the screen name is listed, not because I am yelling!!) on the FISD or MEPD is for crap like this, or to point out where someone else is wrong, but provide nothing other than "trust me, I know better, and I would show you if you deserved it, but you don't. So just bow down and thank your lucky stars I was born, because without me, NO ONE would have anything!!!

As far as the recasting goes, I believe if you have worked hard and put your efforts into something, anything, it should be respected. I also know it does not happen, and that is a shame. If someone wants to cast your stuff, they should ask. I f you say no, they they shouldn't do it, period! Two wrongs don't make a right, and this can go around and around, so I will stop there. (insert chicken and the egg thing here!)

Heck, several years ago a co-worker and I designed a process for dealing with transferred calls in a Voice over IP (VoIP) environment to improve call quality. We even shared it with Nortel (A PBX vendor with who's product we were working on at the time) to see what they thought. 6 months go by and at a conference I learn about a new feature that does just what we were working on, and there starring me in the face is OUR Feature briefing; almost word for word!! I went to Nortel and asked if that was our stuff and they admitted it, and even said thanks. When I asked for it in writing or a "provided by" tribute, they said no way!!! No acknowledgment was made, and no public knowledge of our hard work was ever know but for a few people.

So, I can say I have spent hours and hours and hours of my own time and energy to have someone else steal my work and not even give me a nod, so GINO you cannot say I have no idea what I am talking about. (heck, we never got a dime, so I am worse off than I thought)

What I can say is there are two ways to go with this. One is to simply recognize this exists, and do your best to avoid interactions that will add to it, or whine about it every chance you get, and demoralize every person you meet simply by making them feel inferior by your words.

If you would stop and read, there are many people who do appreciate the work and effort it took to get a screen accurate bucket. There are many people who will say that they are so glad people like GINO and TE existed for the sake of the hobby. It gets us closer to the screen than ever before. But it is when those people start to feed on that ego boost and demand to be worshiped above and beyond the admiration already in place; people start to throw stones. I am not saying I condone it, I just see it.

  5. These should be round. Approx 7/16" buttons, painted white. Some guys (like myself) have an ab plate sans buttons, nut most screen grabs show three buttons on the left side of the ab plate, same white as the rest of the armor.

    Hope this helps.

  6. No matter which way you go, I'm exicted about the project. I think a beret would be the best way to crown someones deployment.

I concur. We added a new set of FISD swag for the Elite Troopers (I know, I know, we only have 18).

Something that is reserved to Deployed troopers is a great thing to shoot for, and something many Deployed troopers would want (I know I do!!!).

  7. In my own experience, that's something you don't take into consideration when building it. We think "appearance" first, adding this or that with little consideration of weight. Then you wear it and reality hits you.

    Amen Brother!!!

I did the St. Patty's parade and had my pack on for about 5 hours on Saturday, and it is not light.

I also think the suit up process you are following works best. seems if you run the shoulder bell straps over the pack straps, you should not be popping off.

But hey, I am the new guy over here.

  8. Well done troopers!!! As my sig banner says, I have Type 1 diabetes, so I can say thank you for walking for the cause. I know we have many garrisons and squads doing JDRF walks this year, and I am hoping to get some form of National Updates to include all the 501st troopers and their walks in some of the JDRF Publications.

If you can, I would really like a few pics and some info on how the day went. If you are willing to shoot me a PM with anything (maybe a small snipit), I would really appreciate it. If not, I can always plagiarize your post!!!

    Thanks again,

    Scott Magerfleisch

  9. Thanks Mike!!!

I will be adding a little to the ab plate, but I think I am planning to leave the rest. I know the darker dirt will make pics pick up the dirt better, but I am rather partial to the look right now. The troop yesterday really helped me to know what all would stay, and I have to give major props to Aqua Net super hold!!!

  11. Looking good Scott! Haven't come across any of that Fullers Earth stuff over here in New Zealand yet, does it stick to the costume well once you've sealed it over?

    Nice armour bin too

I will let you know after this weekend!! It will be my first troop as a TD, so I will probably learn a lot on Saturday.
