Hi Guys and Gals, a friend of mine wants to buy my armor, and I rarely troop anymore, so I'm considering it. I want to give him a good deal, but also want to be reasonable. It's been so long since I built my backpack, I wonder if you all can tell me what it would cost to make something similar these days, or what it would cost to buy one pre-made, AND does it meet current MEPD requirements? I made it before accurate replica radios and such were available. It is built on a boy scout backpack frame, and has a real English cistern syphon. The "seed trays" are aluminum cake pans. It's all screwed together and pretty indestructible. Here are photos from last year:

This is probably not a deployment issue, but an accuracy one.
When the backpack frame gets bent and the upper and lower boxes get moved closer together, the neck of the siphon should (and might have to, in order to fit) get shortened.

Not yet, but it's getting closer. My new RT-Mod helmet made a big difference, and I've been steadily losing weight throughout the last year so it's all fitting better.
I re-weathered it again yesterday for the Star Wars concert this weekend, so I'm looking forward to seeing those pictures. I'm trying to go more movie accurate with a painted-on gray look. Even though I prefer the natural sand look I had before, it doesn't show up in photos well.
Sometimes when I look at my avatar picture (left) I think - "Wow - just like the movie!"

Gorgeous. If I didn't already have one of your MG34s, I'd get this. Very, very nice! Yes, the stock could be darker, but the texture of it looks very nice. The rest of the gun is fabulous. You could wrap real wire around the barrel's T-tracks and it'll be perfect.
A friend of mine just bought one of your E-11s. You guys do great work.

Today, up to 80% of children with cancer can be cured. But cancer still remains the leading disease-related cause of death in children. On June 12, John Q., TD-5122, participated in the Trek 100 "Bicycle Ride for Hope" ride to raise money for cancer research. I rode 66 miles (over 100 kilometers - a "metric century"), on the hilly country roads around Waterloo, Wisconsin, in 4 hours and 15 minutes. Proceeds from this great ride support critical pediatric cancer and related blood disorder research. The Trek 100 is the mainstay of the MACC Fund's athletic fundraisers. It is one of the largest fundraising efforts for childhood cancer and related blood disorder research in the United States.
Please help me meet my goal of raising $1,000 in donations before July 12!
Every donation, no matter how small ($5 is the minimum allowable online donation), will help fight childhood cancer. Please give whatever you can!

As much as I enjoyed building my pack from all found items, my "radio" is the one thing I've never been happy with. I'm interested in these, for sure.
Between this and the new cisterns from Singapore, we should all be able to make really accurate packs!

My pack weighs 11 pounds with a PVC mortar tube and wood blocks in the shoulder pouch. It's a little heavy, but so far it's pretty indestructible.

You don't necessarily have to do anything. FX helmets are still accepted by the 501st. If you want to become a "deployed" member of the MEPD or get your "Expert Infantry Badge" from the FISD, you need something more movie accurate (there are plenty of options, even for my size 7 3/4 melon).
But those are completely voluntary and optional, not required. It's up to you.

I hope we're not grandfathering original release backpacks the way the losers at the FISD grandfathered FX helmets.

For me, it's the gear and the beat-up look that makes sandtroopers so cool.
The only SW character I like more than a sandtrooper is Boba Fett, but I couldn't afford to do a good Fett costume.

The car air filters (and pool air filters, and shop vac filters) have very thin, flat "ribs" like paper folded into a fan. The closeup from the movie still clearly shows that there are NO thin ribs, but there are thick "tubes" with thin spaces between them.
They look nothing alike when you look at the closeup. From far away, an air filter will pass for this part, but not up close.

Which parts don't meet requirements? I don't see any specifics on the website or in the forums. I'm not talking about SWAT requirements, just basic MEPD.
