  1. Ed, Didn't we meet at an event in Santa Monica? I remember you pulling your camera out of the patrol car.... Same guy?

Yep, that was me. In fact, it was you guys that inspired to lose weight and motivated me to work on getting some armor together after that.

Here are the shots I took...

  2. My first name is Edward, but everyone calls me Ed. I've worked in law enforcement for the past 15 years, so I wanted something related to that. I got my tag from the ED209 robot in the movie "Robocop" (which stands for Enforcement Droid 209...as if anyone here wouldn't know that). ;)

  3. Well, THAT was a short lived Halloween. I don't know how you guys troop in these things. The minute I put the helmet on, the lenses fogged up and I couldn't see squat (Note to Self: Install fans). After that, the pauldron kept curling up, so I took it off (Note to Self: Velcro pauldron down). Then, the velcro on the cod piece started detaching (Note to Self: Sew the velcro onto the elastic). Followed by the thigh pieces drooping (Note to Self: Trim the thigh pieces). Lastly, the adhesive on the velcro inside the left shoulder bell detached, as well as on the butt plate. AAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

Too many wardrobe malfunctions left me standing at the edge of the patio to limit my movement. After a little while, I just took most of it off.

    Back to the drawing board.

At least I got some pics with some hot chicks though. :)

  4. I'm going to separate the lower part of the ab section and of the butt section, and then attach elastic to help with movement. I tried gluing some elastic strips though with a two-part epoxy, but the elastic kept peeling off. The epoxy was from a hobby shop I believe and came in a pair of syringest that are attached together so the plugers will go down evenly. The armor is FX, so it's ABS.

Am I doing something wrong here, or is this not the right type of glue to use?

  5. Had to put this on the backburner for a bit, but I'd like to have it ready for Halloween. All I gotta' do now is separate the ab and butt plate then add the elastic, and then set up the belt/thigh connectors. A little more sizing too and I should be ready to go (for Halloween at least...not planning on using a BFG or a backpack).

I'm thinking of rubbing a newspaper on it to add a little more grime to the body parts. What do you guys think?

  6. because i like to build props and parts! i just need to pick up some ABS and snaps/straps to wrap it up

plus, i just finished this beast, so things should be moving a little faster!

Don't leave me hangin'....let's see the progress. I've gotta' build one of those too!
  7. Well, since I live in Norway, I think a US supplier will be more expensive..... ;)

But thanks for the advice, and I've already made a topic on FISD.

I just some listed on Ebay yesterday, or the day before. Just type in "Stormtrooper Helmet", or "Star Wars Helmet" on the search and you should find it.

I'll see if I can get a link for you.

  8. I used the same paints for my weathering; works well IMHO. I think you put on a good amount on (not overdone), but I think you should sponge it off a bit to make it look more sand blasts and less like it was splattered on.

Here's my helmet to show you what I mean...

  9. Saw this over on BS.N and seems a little fake to me. If not, then, i really don't know what to say. Other than WTF? lol

I thought that too, but that just seems like too expensive a piece to destroy for some YouTube video. And, if they made a fake copy of the figure, then that was a pretty detailed fake. I just can't imagine someone destroying it either way...I mean, what would they gain from it?
