I'm not saying this list is "The Truth" concerning the ranks, but it's a pretty good rule of thumb.
Since the movie was shot without thinking about what rank they had and so on (seems mort likely), we only have EU facts to go by.
IMO, it looks better at troops when we have 1 orange pauldron, 2 white (depending on how many attending) and the rest should be black. But again, my opinion...

• Ammo pouches. Made of leather, canvas or vinyl. Worn either at the hips or left shoulder, opposite of the pauldron.
• Black Leather, Vinyl, or Canvas Ammunition Pouches (MP40, MP38, or similarly styled) Worn on the left shoulder, and also on the belt.
Should this be posted twice?

The different ranks have actually been stated "officially" on starwars.com:
http://www.starwars.com/databank/organi ... ers/?id=eu
"Sandtroopers wear colored pauldrons as a designation of rank. A stormtrooper sergeant's pauldron is white while an enlisted stormtrooper's pauldron is all black. Squad leaders, who lead units of seven troopers, wear orange shoulder pauldrons. "
However, this is only EU facts. But this is the system I tend to use, when thinking of ranks.

All members of the UK Garrison have those, as well. (If I remember correctly from CE, that is...)

Not sure if I have access, but just in case: TK-7620, Ole Jacob Øverseth requesting 501st access.

Well, after attending my ever first trooping event this weekend (at Gothenburg, Sweden), and getting a LOT of fresh scuff marks and paint damages to my helmet/armor, I've decided to step up the pace to become a TD.
I've gotten hold of the knee-plate and ab-plate already, and will be getting some ammo-pouches very soon.

Hmmm... Quick calculation: Here in Norway we pay about $2.5 per litre... No idea what that'll be per gallon though

using the Kenner blaster as a base for the BFG was kinda smart!
Will it be detachable, so you can use it as a standard E-11 as well?

It looks like some sort of air filter, to me...

Congrats Mike!

Thanks for the replies!
Guess I have to see what my end result will be, then.

Could someone state the biggest differences? Look really the same to me...
Also, since I'm planning to do a TD costume, would it be acceptable to do it as a "replacement" kind of character? In other words, a fresh recruit from another place, with TK armor perhaps? Or is that too farfetched?
Other than that: LOVE the site!!

Just a quick question: where can I find this story?

Hi!
Just wanted to pop in. Though I'm not even a trooper yet, I'm planning on getting a helmet shortly and getting it good and dirty!
My name is Ole Jacob (just OJ for short...), I'm 31 years old and from Norway. Managed to bump into some 501st guys at CE Europe, and got hooked...
Now, I just have to persuade my wife so I can start off with a helmet...
Finally going dirty..... *EVEN MORE PICS IN LAST POST*

Started to take of decals from my TK helmet; I'm considering leaving the black part of the decals on, and paint the grey on top of that.
But, how the h..l do I fasten the sniper plate? I don't think it's suposed to be screwed into place (although it has screws on the back-side), but I can't figure it out...
And, has anyone got any measurements as for how much I need to cut in the ab-plate, to make rooom for the flat piece?
