  1. So they are copies of the original tools then ? i hope im not coming accross as antagonistic here i just am genuinely interested. if they are new tools then regardless of if they are copied from the original or not they are still copies so should they really be described as original ?
  2. Cheers Jez so it would be correct to assume that with his current production the tools would be suffering from similar damage as they did in 76 ?
  3. I'm not an expert on the various helmets or know anything really about vac-forming so this is more of a question rather than a statement. On the SDS site AA says in a statement that the original moulds have suffered no degradation or damage while in storage and the proccess of forming causes very little damage. Now Jez you're saying that during the original production of the stunt helmets in HDPE the moulds would have suffered significant damage and this damage would have been further increased by the production of the hero helmets. So my question is given that you think the faces are original would the damage only be limited to the cap/back moulds ? Like i say i know squat about vac-forming so wonder if someone can chime in and clear that up please ?
  4. look what i spotted on a screencap from ANH
  5. Hi Steve i won't tell you which kit to buy but i would say don't buy an FX kit if you want an accurate one it's the least accurate there is,i'm not rubbishing any maker here as there are numerous people making suits under the FX name now its just become a generic term. Also i will say the suits fine if you don't want accuracy i have one myself which i bought ages ago before i did any sort of research it's very durable tough armour and is pretty cheap to buy the worst thing about it is the helmet IMO its way bigger than it should be. My advice would be buy a more screen accurate kit as sooner or later you will want to change the FX as i am. I'll let others argue who's is best
  6. Thanks for clearing that up I't seems unlikely to me that they were removed from the mould prematurely it would be very difficult to replicate the same mistake consistantly throughout all those helmets surely ?
  7. Forgive my sillyness but you point out this is on the left hand side is it the same case for the right hand side then ?
  8. Thanks mate i can see using this stuff will take quite a few hours of work i suspect the woodland scenics pigments are easier to apply being liquid may give those a try aswell does anyone know if the woodland scenics site delivers to the UK i've found a seller on ebay that sells it but he only has the raw umber and burnt umber not the yellow ochre
  9. I've seen people mentioning sealing their weathering with hairspray has anyone else used a different method that would be more permanant like a clearcoat or something ?
  10. had a little practice with the tamiya stuff does this seem like a suitable level of dirtyness ? sorry about the pic rubbish camera i'll stop hijacking this thread now
  11. That ear on the TE looks like its set at more of an angle to the Gino further toward the front of the helmet look at the gaps between the ear and the teardrop its also closer to the top of the cheek tube also the angle of the ear tip is at more of an angle noticed the trap appears to be a different shape on the Gino too slightly taller and slimmer
