  1. Read through this thread http://www.sandtrooper.net/index.php?na ... opic&t=204 What is cannon with the pouches? I say just having them. In the movie, they were attached via the backpack straps. I myself had problems with this. I attach mine the same way yours was (from what you said). Usually the pouches slant one way or the other. Just need to put the loop on there so it slants away from your face. Wearing it around your upper chest piece, you can have a backpack, or not, and it won't affect it.
  2. Whatever you did, it's back to normal now. It wasn't that everything was all over on one side - there was just nothing there. It's cool now, though. Thanks.
  3. How come when I go to sandtrooper.net, there's nothing oin the front page anymore? I used to get who was online, who posted the last few things, a random picture, and lots of other info.
  4. Braks, I've heard your theory before, and I agree all the way. I agree on the backpacks, too. C3 is the place to show them off, yet it is like having a second person behind you all the time - whirl around too quickly, and you knock people over. Crowded elevators - yeah, right. Sometimes they're good, sometimes not. Pouches, I'd say have something that looks like it should be there. I made up a few pouches for my belt, so it can hold my camera, wallet, keys, etc. As for the belt back, I've recently been looking, too. I have seen some old British WWII belts that are kind of close. But, since it's dirty, covered by a backpack and pouches, does it really matter? Here's another question that I posted some time ago - what do you guys think about all the other trooper "gear"? Like holsters, binoculars, comm links, binders, scanners, etc? Is too much too much? A lot of us have binoculars - what do you do with them? I'm planning on putting them on my belt, in place of a pouch. Comments and ideas?
  5. I agree, too. But, I also think the informed sandtrooper should be able to do independent individual things, based on ANH continuity. For example, you can have a sandtrooper with any combination of no backpack, belt pouches, shoulder pouches, BFG, E-11, and pauldron color. Not everyone needs to be exactly like the "look sir - droids" guy. That's all I'm saying.
  6. I used a water-based craft paint that has actual sand in it. I globbed it all over, than took a wet sponge and lightly went over everything. Mostly hit the high spots, but left enough dirt on there to be cool looking. I think it's a personal thing, as to how much dirt is enough. Personal likings. Did you just come from the cantina, are you ready for inspection, just came from a little jawa skirmish, been caught in a sandstorm, or have you been in the wasteland all month? Plus, I think it's like fingerprints - nobody's the same.
  7. I'll second that - I did TONS of research, saving every picture I could find. Good ones, bad ones, anything I could find on troopers, sandtroopers, custom weapons, backpacks, tutorials, screen caps, etc. I have thousands of pictures, and I figured I'd not need so many, but when it comes down to it, I'm glad I have them. Different angles of the same shot, and different people's ways of doing the same thing is very useful. With a forum like this, you've really got it made, though. Ask lots of questions.
  8. I gotta ask... why would someone post a live auction, then publicly say they are bidding on it?!? If nothing else you've just drawn a lot of attention to yourself and the (up till then) maybe-hidden auction. If your really want to help a fellow stormtrooper out, offer it on one of these boards, and bypass all of Ebay's stupid rules, plus getting outbid. Just my 2 cent's worth.
  9. That's all great and wonderful, but can anyone actually get these badges printed?
  10. If that seam is glued, you'll probably have to heat the plastic about 2 inces on either side of the seam, and bend it to a round shape.
  11. Uuuhhhh... that doesn't sound right. Cement blocks do NOT make good ammo pouches. Seriously, though, your chest pieces shouldn't shift around like that, and your ammo pouch shouldn't be all that heavy. Your chest piece and back piece should rest firmly and squarely on your shoulders. What kind of pouch do you have?
  12. Trying some new directions, just to explore other avenues
  13. Usually what happens, is you would paint your prop silver, or grey color. Then, you put mustard, or rubber cement on it in the places that you want the grey/silver to be seen (usually on edges, since it will look like chipped paint). Then you paint your prop the regular color (usually black, or white). Rub off the rubber cement/mustard, thus showing what's underneath (grey/silver).
  14. I love the orange stripe on that one. I really like the 'weapons inspector' thing, still. Here's my dirtied version: (I added the cog in the background, too)
  15. I really like the 'weapons inspection' thing. I was gonna do mine all dirtied-up, too, but decided against it. Now seeing yours, I've changed my mind again, and want to dirty it up. I'll get to work on that tonight. These badges will have to be 2-sided. Maybe we can have 2 different designs on them. Or, if we really like the one design, we can do it on both sides. We'll have to put this to a vote. Does anyone have a Kinkos or Office Max in their town? I've heard they can do great printing and the thick laminting for fairly cheap (last badge I bought cost all of $1 or $2). Even if it's $10 per page to have done, and you can fit 4 of them (at least), that's less than $3 a piece. I'd pay that. No luck in my town. The grocery store has a copy machine. Not gonna help us much, though. Anyone have a big office store around?
  16. Beat ya to it. The idea is to keep it simple, and have the badge be longer than the regular ones, so under the pile of badges, ours still can be seen.
  17. I did the "mustard method", but used rubber cement. By the time I got it on there, and put the lid on, I painted it, and it came out fine. I've also found that you can use an old sponge to get a 'random' sort of pattern for the high spots. For all my sandy stuff, I will put the item down, like it would normally be carried or worn, then spray a mist of light brown paint over it, so the paint "mists" or "rains" down lightly onto it. Gives it a great coating of dust/dirt.
  18. Are we going to have (or do we already have) a badge for C3 specifically for the MEPD?

  20. Amen, brother! Don't need any more of that "purchasing" stuff than we really need.
