  1. No it's him. and as for the dirt When I wear it you can hardly see the ab plate. I am just too short!!
  2. No TD for this girl! You see guys I am just in the wings now I guess. Got the TD armor done and I am too short for it. It looks MUCH better on my other half.( legio_centurion) Besides he's always been way more dirty then me!! I still have to put the mp40 pouchs on, but I did the ab plate mode, smooth shoulder straps as well as the knee plate and a canvas belt. I am thinking about going canvas on the shoulder straps because that darn pack tries to pop them off all the time!!! So does it look ok or does look awful??
  3. I don't think it would. You rinse it off after 72 hours so maybe not. I would have to test it. After I get them done I will try to test and see if it does. Wal Mart? I will have to check. Thanks
  4. I am a newbie myself but here are some things I have found that helped me. First a great link to a tutorial for the knee sniperplate. http://www.legionxxiv.org/trooper124/sniperplate.htm TD6025 has great pics on how to easily mod you ab plate in his album in the photo gallery. As for lenses I got mine from a seller, but I would suggest going and getting green a wielding face shield then cut them from that. That is what I am going to do. I don't like the dark lenses after wearing a helmet around with them in it. I think if it's even slightly dark out you can't see a darn thing!! I hope that helps some. I did make myself smooth shoulder straps, but that is a personal thing, I just think my pack will fit better with them. As for getting dirty I have found there are a ton of ways to do it. I used watered down acrylic paint and scrubber pads. I will have to touch it up now and then but it looks great. I have found that doing it this way it is easier to contol how dirty your armor is and clean up if you screw up. If you want to know exactly how I did it pm me and I will tell you. Good luck getting dirty!!! Katt
  5. Greetings I just wanted to share this with all of you. I bought this spray dye off Ebay and it seems to be working great. I am thinking three cans maybe four, that may be more then you need but better to have too much then too little. It is messy but it is a great way to do it. Here is the link to it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... eName=WD1V
  6. Would this work? If not he has others. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1
  7. Being a poor newbie I agree TD1149 totally. I love BFG's just as much as the next guy, but in reality every trooper wouldn't have one and it wasn't that way in the movies. That is part of the reason I went with the prod because I wanted to be different. But I think making a list of optional items would help out newbies like myself and would be a good idea to do. I do agree that the modified ab plate is a must. Since TD6025 posted pics of how to modify it, it is something that is easily done (thank you btw TD6025) And I think the lens color should be optional, otherwise there are a few out there (like me) that would have to rip the wrong ones out of their helmets and put the green ones in so they would be correct for MEPD requirements. And yes, keeping it FUN is a good thing! Ok I'll go back to my corner now.
  8. The pack I can deal with. I have wandered a small room stuffed with people with fairy wings, so the pack will be a breeze. But I am going to make my own canvas belt, because 1: I wear a pack anywho. 2: after trying to put the belt on today using ABS, forget it! But as for the smooth shoulder pieces, I made a set, but I wasn't sure using them would be ok. I do think it would work better with the pack. And when it comes to the goodies, I will carry my Binocs arond my neck because I made a cool strap for them. But I do think you can over do it. Besides we all know after a while you get tired of carting it all around with you. And we should all try to look a little different, as it was in the movies. Just my 2 cents of course.
  9. No for sure answer on the belts, but I myself think that it is a canvas, maybe a web belt of some sorts. As we all know they used a lot of surpus stuff for the movies. So I vote for that unless we find out otherwise.
  10. I found some black spray dye off of Ebay. It works pretty good too. What I thought of doing is using fabric stiffener on them after they have been dyed. You could find something like a piece of wood to put in it one to bring out the form, then use the stiffener and it will retain the shape after you remove the wood. Then clear coat it like Matt suggested. When I get mine I am going to play around with that.
  11. It's not my auction, if that's what you ment. If by chance I do get my hands on another one, besides the one I have for myself, you guys will get first shot at the. I just happened upon this one Ebay surfing and thought someone here might need one. I just wanted to clear the air on that.
  12. You are welcome. I may be getting my hands on another one, so if I do I will let you know in case you get outbid on that one.
  13. Don't know if anyone on here needs one, but here it is on Ebay if you do. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 26344&rd=1
  14. As all of you know by now I am working on my TD stuff. Do I have to wait until 501st approve( they are taking their time) me before I can start the ball rolling to join here. I am hoping to have my TD done soon, dirt and all so I was just wondering. BTW is there any other female TD's on here or am I a loner?
  15. Well I have had a heck of time finding any info. Looking at the movie pics it looks like it around 7 feet. I will admit that mine is not to movie specs, but I have limited means when it comes to making it. Here is a photo of some a person made, http://www.starwarstoycollector.com/dew ... dpage.html I found a place tha sells them too, PM me if you want the address.
  16. OK that makes since. Maybe if the funds appear I can get one, but the rest of the kit comes first. Thank you
  17. Did they? That would be nice. I could even put the fur on one that is close if I had to. I will look into that, thanks for the info!
  18. ok I know that this was thread was a while back but, since it was white in the movie, shouldn't be white for the Dewback rider? I know I am splitting hairs, but I have a white pauldron and really would rather wear it. Besides the dirt shows up better!! So help me out here and be honest OK?
  19. A really hard to come by german WWII back pack. I just got outbid on two on Ebay "ARGH" They have fur on the flap, I was told it was because it would shed water better. Here is a website that has pics of one. http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/davin/re ... nister.htm I'm still going to keep looking.
  20. I am trying to get a Tornister myself, but they are a little hard to come by and a bit spendy. But I just gotta have one! I also collect WWII stuff so it feeds both hobbies. My prod isn't exact to movie specs, but turned out looking good. I used a metal shift knob for the end of it. Also it isn't as tall, I had to be realistic about it, it just wouldn't work in everyday life to carry around a 7 to 8 foot pole. If you want I could stick a pic of it up? So does that mean I could join Mos Eisley PD even though I don't have a BFG but a BFS instead?
  21. Greetings all you sand-loving guys. I am putting together my TD stuff, mainly making a Dewback rider (prod was the first thing I did!) and I was wondering about something. In all the pics I have seen, I have yet to see a rider with a BFG. Now in my own opinion I feel that they wouldn't have one, but I want to know if that is correct Thanks
  22. Alright let me try to help. I will be honest here, so please do not take offense. It sounds you may have your work cut out for you. She seems to have it already set in her mind that this is bad thing. I am not saying it is hopeless, but be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. I think maybe if you could get her to go to one event to see what it really is, that might just be enough. I am sooo looking forward to getting my clone armor and putting it all together! Tell her that there are women who do these things with their others and have fun at it(me being one). She doesn't have to stay on the sidelines unless she wants to. It would open a whole new world for her and you. She may find it is just what you both need to help improve your marriage (if that's what it needs) not harm it. PM me if you wish and I will talk at her myself, if that would help any. I think it would be a shame for your dream not to come true and her to miss out on a fun and wonderful thing such as this. There is way to much bad stuff in the world now, so never miss a chance to partake in the good stuff. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you!
