I want to know what has been said about the differences between my armour and the LFL armour so I can show whoever how it does match. Whether you like me or not is irrelevant. I know armour and I know how things should look so when anyone says something is off then I would like to know what they think is wrong so I can show they are not.
RS is not competition. If they were, I would not have given them parts to use with their armour.

Never seen a helmet react like that before. If the helmet is extremely thin under the chin then it has not been pulled correctly. Even my .060 helmets never get that thin and remain a consistent thickness everywhere except inside the mic tips wells.
Strange

someone pointed out a few differences between TM and on screen pics.
Still waiting to hear what the differences are?
I think you have been mislead. I can show you how most of the RS does not match the original screen used armour. Let me hear what you think the differences are between TM and LFL armour so I can show you how wrong you are.

Care to point out the differences to me please? I would love to know what they are.
Regarding comments about plastics, you cannot say one definitive thing about ABS or PVC as there are so many grades available. My acrylic capped ABS will snap completely in half if you bend it too far but my regular ABS will just bend, even crease to a sharp edge if you stand on it. PVC pipes are a totally different grade of PVC compared to forming grade PVC. They all have different characteristics and until you have each one in hand to test you cannot say one is better than the other.
What I can say having formed with a number of different grades of ABS and PVC is regular ABS in 1.5mm is the best for armour. It is lightweight and flexible, much more flexible than PVC.

Make no mistake, the NE is a recast of RS armour.

For all my sandy brothers who are armor experts - found a site called Mytkarmor.com
Recaster? I would think so but I am not the expert on that kind of detail.
Yes, you are right.
It's Dale's new site advertising NE armor.

I do not think it was 3D scanned but anything is possible. One thing that I have trouble with is how they manage to cast it from the inside while all the strapping is left in tact? There is no way you can make a true cast of a piece with the strapping getting in the way so I am keen to see what happened during the casting process. It may well have been cast from the outside and details sharpened. I will know for sure when larger, clearer photos are available and also when someone buys it and checks the lengths of the parts so I can check them against the photos I took of the original RS armour with tape measure on the parts.

I hear what you are saying but I do not think this armour is aimed at anyone just starting out or for trooping in. While I am sure it could be used for anything, it sounds like it is designed specifically for display. It will be built just like the original it was cast from and that is how it should be. If you are lucky enough to fit it and wear it, great. If not, then I would not bother trying rip it apart and make it bigger. If you want armour to wear then I would look elsewhere.

I think it is awesome. This is the only complete armour to have ever been cast and I am really looking forward to seeing the final version. Whether it is made from ABS or fibreglass is irrelevant to me because this would be a display piece. To have a fully assembled accurate display cast from an original ANH armour would be fantastic. This is something that hard core trooper fans have been waiting for since 1977

Sad news.
I hope he gets it back soon. Time to send a detachment to search the local area and maybe a few bounty hunters too. Keeping my fingers crossed for a safe return.

Looks like one of Matt's HDPE helmets.

Awesome photos! You guys are looking super cool. Great job on the photoshop too

There are not many differences between the ROTJ and the SE Sandtrooper armour. I believe the SE's were made from new moulds cast from an ROTJ and a few minor tweaks made. I have this photo of what could be SE troopers or used in some game that might be of use to you?

Looking good, Jaun!
Are you going to be replicating the weathering like any one of these guys?

Hope you brought a brolly with you

If it's not too much trouble, you should reassemble your helmet so the left side tube is longer than the right side. There is a reason why the number of stripes differ from side to side
-
Yeah, they fit inside each other and you hammer them shut. Sounds like the ones you used had too short a stem and couldn't reach inside the cap to secure them together. I have made room in the message box if you want to try again?

Very nice

Did you use a hole punch to make your holes in your belt or cut it with scissors or a knife?
-
I agree with you, Jay. Everyone likes to do things differently but ultimately the end result is you have armour that is wearable. I also realise the original strapping is not for everyone and most armours are not suitable to have it because they are either made from thick, rigid plastic or cheap, brittle plastic. The original strapping is a perfect system if you have the right armour.
Going back to the original question about the belt, riveting the plastic section to your canvas belt secures it permanently so you do not have to worry about velcro or snaps popping off during a troop. Seems like the best option to me.
-
Just saying how the original armour was assembled. It's up to you how you choose how to assemble it depending on your needs, but the original way is the best in my opinion
-
You should use single cap rivets to attach the plastic to the canvas belt. Use snaps for attaching the canvas belt to your ab plate like the original armour.
-
Of course, you would have to strip it down first to make sure all the parts got well lubricated. Just to be sureNow that's an R2 unit that I'd like to oil bath!
Can you tell the difference on initial exam?

Someone said they could see my armour did not match the original armour so I would like to hear what they think the differences are, that's all. If they can see differences in TM armour then they should be able to see all the differences in the RS armour that do not match the original armour, and there are many more, believe me.
I know the original armour has all the bumps, nicks, warping etc. I have been lucky enough to handle the original RS armour a coupe of times, but thanks for the reminder.
