  1. When I cut mine, I started at the sides and cut at a slight arc. (did the same on the calf. It isn't as noticeable as the angled cuts. Good idea with the elastic. It might protect you a little better from pinches. Also, if the top of the thigh has no flashing (like f/x) you can go to town cutting and no one will notice. That way, as opposed to cutting a bunch from the bottom, you cut from the top and the piece just sits higher on your thigh.

  2. I agree with Jim. While the overall effect is nice, carrying all that crap cuts my troop time in half. And makes for a sore body afterwards. I get burned out after about five hours w/ a pack. Without a backpack, I can go on as long as I want (longest to date; 10 hours). If you have a homemade pack, and a hardware BFG, you're probably lugging around an extra 15-30 pounds (on top of the armour). Maybe a good argument for a sci-fire blaster and a vacc-formed pack! I know I'm going to invest in a lighter pack as soon as possible.

  3. I think it just looks like a rectangle. I'm still not sold on the "dimpling" it could just as easily be dirt. It's almost impossible to tell, as I think that is the only "clear' picture of the handback. My guess is this was an on-the-fly fix, since all the others have the "T" backs.

  4. I think it's okay to troop in any screen used config, or any you wanna make up. (on saturday at C3 I skipped the backpack because of the crowds & the fact it cuts down on the time I can comfortably spend in armor) BUT, you should be able to be "fully equipped" for MEPD membership. (if you meet all requirements, you could theoretically mimick any of the combos you mentioned). The requirements, which are fairly forgiving, are set to seperate us from the rank & file. Without commitment (dirt) and effort (backpack, BFG) there would be no point in having a detachment.

  5. Is that the sand texture stuff? Someone told me they applied it, then scrubbed at it with windex, and then did a second touch-up layer with a second color.

  6. For the "badges", If you post a hi-res (or link to) picture, you can print these off at home, and laminate them with clear shelf paper. It's a little ghetto, but looks good. and those who want one, get one. Also, lobby before the big photo should work out, maybe we should all try to get there early?

  7. For best results, clean the pouches before you dye them. I think some of the rubbing off problem is caused by people dying pouches that still have polish (or polish residue) on them. I cleaned mine with a mild bleach/water solution and I haven't had any trouble with rubbing off. I even used plain old black kiwi leather dye. Nothing special.

  8. Just keep trimming and adjusting until you can go up & down steps, sit down, and pick something up off of the ground. Hinge your cod piece for sure, and trim the length on your biceps, thigh, and calf pieces until you're comfortable.

  9. Unfortunately for the EU, the trooper begins his "forward leap" with no blaster bolts in sight, so my guess is ILM screwed up. LOL! But yeah, shot in the back, that's good. I still like like my tripping theory. It wouldn't be the first time someone took a spill while in armor!

  10. If anyone wants to see a sandtrooper wearing a canvas belt, watch the scene right before they run into docking bay 94, the orange pauldron T21, no backpack trooper has one on, as does the no pauldron, two ammo pouch trooper. You should be able to see it in any version of the movie, since they both go through the middle of the screen. Blink and you'll miss it. Oh, and has anyone ever noticed that the orange pauldron trooper that goes down, doesn't actually get hit with a blaster bolt? Maybe he tripped. Stupid freeze frame, ruining everything.
