  1. Howdy! I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Jeff from Illinois. I bought a ATA helmet over a year ago and I started it, but got busy with life and didn't finish it. During the past few months I finished it up, but when it was done something felt wrong about it. Then suddenly I realized what it was! It was too clean!! I came to this sight and dirtied it up and now it looks much better! I am currently waiting for my ATA armor and in the mean time I decided to build either the pack or a weapon. After much research I've decided to busy myself with an Doopydoos E-11 build. It looks like a lot of work, but I had so much fun building my bucket that I am really looking forward to it!
  2. He did not say. I assumed just regular Elmer's glue. When it dries it makes a kind of clear skin.
  3. LOL. Yes. I just got done washing up and I think I had soap on the brain!
  4. Looks like I joined at the right time! This post makes 7 this month!
  5. I got my stripes in and finished the weathering. So, I decided to try out Terry's soap idea. This first one is untreated. Then I sponged on the soap mixture on just the top of the helmet.
  6. You are a wealth of information Terry! I followed your weathering tips as well! I will try out that glue mixture on a small part and see how I like it!
  7. This is what I was going for! Not the dried blood, but battle torn. I'm glad it came across! Once I get my tubestripes, I'm going to touch it up a bit. Then I'll take some better pictures! I thought about trying to recreate a sandtrooper, but I'm not confident enough in my skill. Making random patterns is one thing, making patterns that look random on purpose?! I'm not so sure. Already written down! Thanks for the compliment!
  8. This is my first attempt at weathering and I wanted to make sure I am on the right track. I know I am missing the tube stripes. I attempted to paint them myself and failed horribly. I have ordered decals from from trooperbay and while I am waiting I decided to give weathering a go. In my excitement I weathered a bit were the tube stripes go! I have cleaned up that area since I took the picture.
  9. Thanks guys! Glad I asked before I ruined my bucket!
  10. I have noticed that even after the weathering is complete some of the armor is still shiny. I saw one tutorial, can't remember where at the moment, that suggested using a very fine sandpaper, then weather the armor. I am getting ready to weather my helmet and I wanted to see if this was a good idea or not.
