  1. Having a couple of pairs of motorcowboy boots, I can say that getting the size right is no easy task as I had little luck on both attempts. I'd try a nice insole or any other alternative first. Best of luck
  2. Sounds like a great day! I had to re-think the lines for a minute when I read the thread title....I always think of him as the "Move Along" trooper
  3. The mannequins face actually only shows up during a cameras flash going off....in normal display it looks black. I may put one of my wifes nylons over his head to darken it up though
  4. Thanks for all the kind words everybody! The mannequin is actually molded in that position. It took me years to wait and wait for certain mannequins to have "the" pose I'm looking for prior to purchase. The right hand/arm would normally rest slightly on the hip while the left would rest on the other hip...when posed, I knew it would be perfect for just what you see....him holding a DLT19 and waving "move along" .....although the E11 would be more accurate, I'm reserving it for my Snowtrooper mannequin
  5. I've had my "Move Along" Sandtrooper finished for some time and thought I'd share a couple of pics of him in my display room. The helmet is an AP, the boots are MCheng and the armor is GT with a custom ab & knee plate to be "Sandtrooper accurate"....the rifle is a real MG34 and the side pouches are real MP40's....the shoulder one is a repro. I finished all the weathering with acrylics. I hope you all like him as much as I do!
  6. I'm no authority on leather, but I think the pebble grain, once done, is there to stay for the most part. Banging on leather with a hammer seems like it might damage it.....even if it weren't formed into a pouch, which seems like you would even further damage it. Steve
  7. When dyeing both of my MP40 leather pouches I bought "Tandy" leather oil dye in chocolate. I used their reducer fist to clean and prep the leather. Then while the leather was still wet from the reducer I applied the dye per instructions. I finished them off with a coat of their resolene for future protection. Whole process didn't take more than two days......most of which was spent in the wet molding process. They look good as new. Oh and I first wet molded them back into shape prior to dyeing. Steve
  8. "Screen accurate" patterns with "real world" amenities is my personal flavor Only reason is since folks who will ever see some of my collection take a further level of interest when the level of detail in weathering is much more "real". Steve
  9. Braks, isn't that trooper carrying the MG34 with the orange pauldron the one who comes into the cantina first looking for the "troublemakers" ?
  10. Excellent! Thanks for the info. Braks. I got my MP40 canvas ones since you presented a heck of a case on the canvas pouch on the Move Along Troopers shoulder. Steve
  11. After reviewing Braks research on the "Move Along" Troopers shoulder pouch I was wondering if it is known if he has any on his left hip? I have a pic where one, which appears very much to be leather, on his right hip. Since the holster might be on the left side I'm just not sure whats going on with the pouch situation, if any. Steve
  12. Just wanted to say HI! I've been reading alot lately and just thought it time to make a post I'm in the middle of completing a "Move Along" helmet and am at the weathering stage, the most important. I'm thinking on the woodland scenics route with a blend of waterbased paints. Hopefully all goes well once the dirt starts going on Glad to be amongst the dirtiest of Troopers! Steve
