On behalf of the Great Lakes Garrison I would like to invite everyone to the Motor City Comic Con this May! We are working very hard and very closely with the organizers of the Motor City Comic Con to make this an unforgettable event. Last year Jeremy Bulloch said that the 501st booth was one of the best he had ever seen in the world. We have lots of interactive events for kids of all ages, and some 501st specific events as well. I made mine following TK409's guides on his site, and used the thick PVC as well. Good God does that thing get heavy! I can sympathize with you there. Really nice work on yours, it looks awesome!

29 here. I've been in the 501st for 3 years now, but just recently converted my armor to Sandy. I can't remember the first time I saw Star Wars, and have lost count of how many times it has been since then. I DO remember seeing Empire at a drive in and Jedi in the theatre. My nephew (who is three) gets excitied everytime he sees a stormtrooper, asking his father "is that uncle J.J.?" That is the most awesome thing to me.

WEll after reading all this, I have reached the point of no turning back. I cut the ab plate of my armor, and have begun the sanding process. Soon, VERY soon I will have the armor complete...

I do know that in 2007 the convention center has been rented out in the general time frame that CII and CIII were. They will not say who has it for those dates, it could be a Mark Kay convention for all I know, but it does sound promising that it will be there again.
