  1. Looks really great. Weathering is a personal thing, I like mine to be less evident, but this looks great and I agree with Deatrin, when it wears of naturally with time, it will only look better and better. Saludos.
  2. Looks great! Great job bro. Saludos
  3. Thx for your comments... I myself am curious about how it will look when finished... I will work on it this weekend and post some pictures... Saludos.
  4. Thanks for all your comments, and pappy, thx for your help. I was kind of doubtful at first, but at the end they came out quiet good I think. I like them a lot. Now Im thinking of redoing my armor weathering... I dont know if ill do it anyway. Saludos...
  5. Since it is quiet difficult to find any vintage tupperware hamburger stackers and cistern siphon in Mexico, I decided to make one from PVC and other material... So, I started with 2 PVC pipes: 1" and 2" wide; one 100mm PVC pipe and one cistern mmm thing (sorry, dont know the name but check out the picture). So far it is not exactly accurate but it was my first attempt. I know Im am light years from a finished screen accurate Backpack, but.. this is a start. Im planning of using rubber bands or something similar to simulate the different pieces that make the main body. What do you think? Any help is welcome... Saludos
  6. This weekend I tried and weathered my Stolla Wien replica pouches and pauldron. To do this, I kindof followed some ideas posted in the forum and also I improvised on the way. First I put the pouches in very hot water for about 5 minutes. Then bent them in any posibble way, rolling up and down the flaps and all for about 10 minutes. I then let them dry. The leather in one pouch became super soft and on the other became stiff. Weird. But both of them got a very cool texture. The one with the thicker leather got some kind of white stuff all over one of the pockets. It looks cool I think. Then I used the multilayer paint technique. After they dried, I kick them around the yard over the cement floor for a while, and then used the hairspray/fullers earth technique, but instead of fullers earth I just used some dirt from my backyard. This is how the looked before... And this is how they look now... And for the pauldron, I just did the paintjob and hairspray and dirt. This is how it came out... What do you think? Saludos
  7. Well, I have already weathered my pouches and pauldron... I will start a new thread in a few minutes and will copy/paste the link here just in case... http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=...amp;#entry56610 I got the pouches from a fellow mexican trooper. He had them specially made by some ppl who work for the mexican army or something. Im not sure but I think its some kind of workshop specialized in army ammo pouches and uniforms. Its a replica made by a person that makes real army issued pouches... Saludos
  8. PM sent! Thx a lot. Saludos...
  9. Thx... I will try with a rubber hammer on a flap or something and see how it goes... Does anyone else have tried this? How about just throwing it into very hot water and just try to bent it in every direction? Saludos...
  10. Im bringing this thread back from death cause I want to weather - wear off my Stolla Wien replica pouches. I know these are not the best replicas out there, but is pretty much the best available in Mexico. They are made from leather. One is thick leather and the other is a little thinner. I am curious about the method Seth described here. But since this is a very old thread, the pictures are no longer available... Has anyone done something like this? I think the method described here is as follows: 1. Insert a piece of wood in each of the 3 slots. 2. Hit it with a hammer repeatedly for a few minutes. 3. Run over them with a car (or maybe just kick them around the yard and step on them) 4. Wet the pouches, place a wood board on top of them and hammer them again. And I would add: 5. Hairspray it and kick it around the yard once more. And then what? What can I expect to get from this? Does this sounds right? I guess it wont need any weathering afterwars, does it? Anyone has any alternative method? Thanks for any help... Saludos
  11. I did melt the side of the buckets tube by using too much too hot glue. Never happened again by just never letting the gun plugged for more than 4 or 5 minutes... That way hot glues does the tick... Saludos... JA
  12. I really like your weathering job. It has the kind of look I ve been trying to achieve. I think I will try the old newspaper thing and see how it works. Thanks for sharing, Saludos.
  13. The tea cup theory kind off sounds logic, but then how can you explain that the two orange pauldrons have the same kind or mark in the same place? Interesting... The adhesive left over from a sticker or maybe gaffers take sounds more realistic. I mean, I've been in tv ad shootings and gaffers tape is all around the place. But the downside of that theory is that gaffers tape (real gaffers tape and not duk tape) doest not leave any adhesive left over. Thats why the use it in the first place, great for securing stuff, no adhesive left behing... MMM... dont know. Prop guys in SW were really messy... it could be a sticker left over or the stitching left after removing a patch or... I dont know... Interesting... Wish we could ask the prop makers or the costume desing crew... Florida_Phil, do you have by any chance a picture of your pauldron with the circular mark... Saludos...
  14. Yes... this is what I have been thinking for a couple of days... I have been thinking about just sticking some tape in the shape of a circle, leave it there for a couple of days and then remove it using alcohol or something just to make sure that some adhesive is left over... I dont have an orange pauldron now, but Ill try this when I finish making mine... BTW, the captain walking down the alley has the attitude I always think of when trooping... He is a BMF!
  15. I guess I will try to find out the exact shape of the logo/stain using photoshop and playing with color and saturation... if I find any interesting result ill post it here... THX for all your comments. Saludos.
  16. Thanks for all the replys... its very interesting. And since I did not noticed it till yesterday, im a bit curious... Even more now seeing that it appears in two captain pauldrons... So, do you think it could be alright to make some kind of mark resembling a wore off the imperial logo in the captain pauldron. I mean, it could be similar to this thing in the movie, but not quiet cause we know almost for sure that it is not an imperial logo... Would it be still screen accurate it I did this logo thing, or should I just stay with no logo on my pauldron? Any thoughts? Rolf? (cause indeed you are the pauldron master!) Thanks a lot! Saludos...
  17. Ive been researching about pauldrons to try to make my own screen accurate version. I know every single inch from every ANH image with a TD have been studied deeply... but today I noticed something that I have never heard of or anything. An its that the Pauldron belonging to the Move Along TD has a very small circular shaped symbol on the orange part, near the neck. Check this out: Does anyone know what this is? Sorry if this has been posted before, just couldnt find it. Saludos...
  18. Thanks a lot for you replies! I guess I just missed that post in the Barracks. Saludos!
  19. Hi... I've been having troubles with the forum since the migration, but I thought it was cause I use a mac and got used to it. But one thing I cant work out is: where is the reference gallery? Is it somewhere hidden and I just cant find it, is it down, or is it again a mac issue? Thanks for any help. Saludos.
  20. So, last thursday the Mexican Garrison attended several different walmart stores all around the country for the special night sale for Hasbros Clone Wars series... I was assigned for a big (probably the biggest) walmart in town, but being this store not in the center of the city, only two troopers were able to attend. So, we both had to deal with almost a thousand assistants to the sale. The main attraction were the toys themselves of course, but there was also a costume contest where the first price was a Millenium Falcon worth more than 300 USD. We had lots and lots of pictures taken, were interviewed for several newspapers and radio and tv news shows and just had fun with the ppl attending the event. Here are a couple of pictures... Saludos...
  21. The pleasure was all mine bro! It was great to finally meet you and troop toguether. Hope to see you soon... Un abrazo hermano. THX a lot! I have a couple. Ill try to post them during the weekend. Saludos!
  22. Last weekend the Mexican Garrison took by assault the facilities of the WTC Mexico City and claimed Expo Coleccionistas 2008 as an Imperial System. The climax of the event was the parade on Sunday with 54 Troopers from all around the country. We had a great time arresting fans, posing for pictures, and just trooping around. With a vintage toy exhibition, a play named Episode VI.1, Mary Oyaya and Matt Sloan as guests of honor, and lots and lots of SW toys, it was a great event for the Mexican SW fans... The Parade: Display of power: And representing the MEPD, TK4455 and myself: Saludos...
