A bit more context for my decision, Solo is one of my favorite movies, 3rd behind Rogue one and Phantom Menace, and I worked for years to finally get a mimban officer approved. I debated where to go next, either this or a Mudtrooper, but ended up here since I don't have a full armor costume (yet!) as the closest I've got is Inferno Squad. 

So here's the dilemma, I'm not sure exactly where to get started with this armor. I'm not super knowledgeable about TK's in general, let alone the NE ones. The only two makers I know of are Jim Tripon with his flexible fiberglass kit or 850 armor works with their vac formed kit. I won't lie, I've been disappointed with 850 in the past. I ordered my officer armor from them and the chestplate has some production issues that left part of the surface bumpy. Luckily most of it was covered when I assembled the armor, but some I had to cover with weathering. The advantage is that it's cheaper, should get here quicker and won't be as heavy as Jim's kit. 

However, I've purchased from Jim before, several officer tunics, along with my Del vest and most recently my security trooper from Andor. I trust that his will be good quality. Plus I can get everything except the poncho and ammo bag from him, since he offers the armor, undersuit, helmet, helmet reinforcement, and pauldron. However his kit after shipping would be about double the price, though it does include the helmet unlike 850. I was hoping to get some of your guy's opinion on it.

Armor: 

I purchased an armor kit from 850 ArmorWorks, I won't go on about the armor assembly, since it's a topic that's already covered well enough across the forums. The "mud" look was achieved by mixing various acrylic paint (mainly black, brown and greys) with plaster and water, playing around with different viscosities and methods of applying and occasionally wiping of the paint. I believe I ended up doing 4-5 layers of paint, going darker with each layer. I also sanded the paint surface lightly in certain spots with fine steel wool and sandpaper to bring out some texture and a bit of the white plastic underneath.  

Helmet: My helmet is 3d-printed in PLA and SLA-resin, with files from 3DPrintArmory, the helmet was painted in pretty much the same way as the armor, I was just a bit more careful to not sand through the white paint and bring out the original filament color/primer under the white.

Backpack: I’m not gonna do a super-deep dive into building the field pack, since all the information already exist wonderfully written and researched in the thread by ireachy and mr paul and I pretty much just followed that as much as I could. Gathering all the military equipment, the grenade box, Swedish backpack frame, etc. and then assembling it all. I brought the backpack along with the costume to its first troop back in November, but funnily enough I didn’t end up wearing at all during the whole weekend, because of the long antenna, could barely stand up straight with it in the dressing room, let alone walk through doors with it…

Poncho/Cape: Nothing too special, just got me a surplus Plash Palatka, I believe they were Romanian versions with two armholes, but it works just fine for my purposes, mine didn’t have the leather grommets on it, so I simply glued on some leather rings, works great. I dyed it black with the same methods for dyeing the ALICE pack as described in the Field Pack Thread.

Pauldron: I ended up making my own pauldron, mostly since I was on a deadline for a upcoming con. I found some patterns on one of the forums, and used some faux leather to make my own, it’s not the best, but it works for the time being, probably going to be getting a new one eventually.

I don’t have a blaster yet and I found it really hard trying to pose without a blaster, like what am I supposed to do with my hands?! Anyway, normally I’d 3d print a blaster, but I’ve recently tried to move away from 3d printed hand props, mainly since they brake so easily. I’ll probably purchase one made of resin or rubber, anyone here got any suggestions of where to get any of the mimban blasters? Preferably in Europe.

I have purchased a set of RO TK armour off another member which is 850 armor. I have a Black Series helmet with a 3d printed blast shield from Nico in Oz. My question is how much modification is required for the BS helmet for Mimban basic approval? I know with the RO TKs a lot of modding is needed .

I realise I will need to paint my helmet and apply weathering but do the tube stripes need to be cut out etc?

The first big task was to complete the Rogue One TK as shiny and perfect as I could manage.   My logic was that if I wanted the weathering to look correct, I would create the outfit the way it would be prior to weathering as perfectly as I could, and THEN apply the weathering.

Armor - R1 style Armor with heavy muddy weathering 

Bucket - R1 styled bucket but with blast shield similar to the Shoretrooper, gray or brown vocoder? 

Pauldron - Some variants seem to have orange pauldrons

Pack - Appears to be the crystal patrol pack or a variation of it. Similar parts it looks like

Cape - Looks to have a cape or poncho. 

Blaster- We have seen this trooper with a long gun, what looks to be a new e-11 variant like the death trooper blaster. and e-11s

I would like to make this trooper eventually and have many questions. 

First off, this thing is much bigger (and heavier)  than I thought it would be. Its about  65" x 65". When I first tried it on I noticed it drags the ground. Then I thought, there must be a way to make it shorter and noticed that I can attach the bottom to the middle like so.

Which makes me believe thats the inside so its hidden away. Leaving the top to hang down like a hood.

Second, how is this thing supposed to sit? I'm pretty sure I figured out how it attaches, tied to my sholder straps. The reference photos I have dont really show too may details/ stitching etc. Its hard to tell what side to wear it on. Anyone have any reference photos from the back without a backpack on?

My assumption is that it's made of wool so I'm not exactly sure how I want to dye it.

This is what I have on hand at the moment so I may have to go out and buy another black RIT for natural Fabrics. Let me know what you use to dye yours.

My next question is, what are we using for weathering/mud? Acrylic paints, spray paints or maybe something thicker?

Hi, I'm Jose Luis aka Leonidas TK3563.  Cierzo Squad member of the Spanish Garrison.
 I belong to the 501st Legion since 2006 and I have an old FX armor.
Since I enjoyed the movie SOLO , I have an interest in making a Mimban Trooper armor.
Knowing that it needs serious modifications, can it be possible?
Since the armor is symmetrical and modify it I consider it as a challenge.
Do you see it possible to transform the FX to get accepted as Mimban trooper?
I know that a Black series helmet of stormtrooper R1, with sufficient modifications, can be valid for registration.

Hello! I know the crl is in development, but I wanted to share some pictures to see if anyone has any advice on how my armor looks and is strapped. I've never done a 501st costume of put anything before the GMLs for approval before so any help would be appreciated! I already know there are a couple of adjustments like bringing up the pack and fastening my shoulder bells down. Also forgot a hand plate on the one without the pack.
