My wonderful lady bought me a 3D printer for Christmas and I’m hoping to build a couple of DLTs...I’m wanting to use aluminium tube right the way through them like I did for my scratch built one but I can’t find any files that would accommodate this.

Does anyone know of any files that once printed would just ‘bolt’ on or is there anyone out there that could alter ready made files to do so?

Praetorian Blasters

We had to leave Etsy and Facebook due to these being "restricted" items by their book. Not sure why but it is what it is. 

Basically every blaster we make is legacy and/or canon at this point but you should research and make sure that our products meet the criteria of the 501st. IF we do not, we will try to ensure that we will in the future within reason of course.

So to start, as with all 3d prints, time to sand away the print lines as much as possible. Be careful of heat buildup as this type of plastic doesn't like the heat and it will just come away in clumps. Here all the parts are after an initial sand:

Once I am happy with the surface its time to use some spray putty. I went through many layers of this to get the surface smooth with harder areas getting some modeling putty. All sanding was done with Wet/dry sandpaper and all in the sink with water (my wife loved me for that  Y&@@& )

Once smooth it's time for primer and then a coat of silver. I like to metalize everything first, I feel it give a better look and colour density. Here are some closeups of the surface once it was silver & shows the texture I got out of the surface.

Onto initial painting. I did a lot of research on the MG34 and rather than going with just a black stick, I wanted to replicate the  original gunmetal look and show the gun was made up of different parts that could be exchanged with other guns in the field. In most cases the parts have all aged differently and there was quite a lot of tone & colour difference. So here is the first colour being added, it look light but trust me it's going somewhere

Because of the silver layer underneath I can add natural scratches to the surface and it again adds to the realism. Next stage was getting the butt stock finished. I was going to go a chocolate brown but decided on black as it adds more contrast. The stock & grips were made of Bakelite and black was also the most common colour.  Here it is after a coat of black, then semi gloss clear. 

Next was the barrel & cooling jacket. As this part was removed often I wanted the cooling jacket to show very patchy colour due to wear with the barrel to be different again. Was happy with the look of the paint finish once I was finished

And lastly I did the bipod. No pictures of this really as its much the same as everything else. I did re enforce the legs though and add a couple of greeblies that should be there from the real gun. 

Next was the T-Tracks. These were also 3d printed so after a little work I was able to paint them a rubber black for contrast. This is a more green black colour and really does give a rubber look

Then after final assembly it was ready for handover. Really proud of this one and was sad to hand it back. Still happy to have been part of it. 

Sooo... I was given the opportunity to keep this blaster the other week and paint a second for the owner. I was more than happy to accept and this lovely girl came back with me from a recent troop. I had a couple of things to repair and while I was there I decided on a small upgrade. While I was researching the MG34, I found some details on the print missing & I was looking to upgrade the belt feed section as it was pretty bland (not that it needed to be anything else, I am just being picky  z--3 )

Here is what I started with:

I added a back to the internal section of the port (which I left black) to block out light coming through from the other side. I then made a flange for the feed as per pictures I found online. Heating the plastic to had it bend it in a number of directions which was hard but it came out ok. I also made a T piece that attaches to the top of the cover (again found on pictures of the real MG34 and will probably help explaining its a fake gun & nothing can be put into the chamber) and  small piece to the left of the feed. A bit of paint and weathering and I think it came up a treat.

And that's it, all finished and ready to troop next weekend!

So I order a kit from a shop on Etsy called Galactic3DEmpire, Gaven does some amazing work and does various weapons from Starwars or any other series you can think of , he shipped my order out quickly since this was the last one he had in stock (if its not in stock you can always message him and request it, but may take a little bit longer) he also does commissions.

Here is the 3D printed kit, it has a sturdy feel and doesn't feel frail like some 3d printing stuff.

 Like.. will it be safe in my bin in my car in FL in summer for a couple hours?

Super cool item. Looks the part. I'd like to add the T-tracks and port cover. I already have the Danco 3/4" disk for above the grip, but I'd like to keep them removable for any WWII re-enactments that I also get to do once in a while.

Anyone convert theirs to the DLT-19? Just checking to see if there is a pre-made port cover anywhere and where I can find the T-tracks (not going to use wiper blades btw). Thanks !!

I have a Sandtrooper from RS including Bapty Blaster and DLT 19.

I am looking for a T-21 blaster. Is there anyone here who might offer the blaster Ready to Troop?

I am a wounded santrooper and can't put it together myself. Maybe someone here can help me find a ready to troop blaster.

It should be light, i.e. a 3D print.

For ESB they have obviously added some greeblies to make it look more interesting, I think one can identify the same greeblie as on Boba´s EE-3.

Not 100% accurate but near enough for trooping/display

The brackets for the mag strap should be here this week then I can get that fitted. I’ll post an update when it’s on.

Hi everyone, some of you might already know that I have started a Dengar build. What I really dig about this character is the cobbled-together look with all the Sandtrooper armor, the backpack and that big Valken blaster/MG 42. 
I for one assume that Dengar originally was a Sandtrooper gone rogue becoming a bounty hunter finally.
Altough his blaster has never been used by a Sandtrooper, I just wanted to show you some pics here of my build, hoping that you just like to look at pics of big, badass blasters as much as I do. 

sawed it out of three sheets of wood, glued them together and started giving it the right shape with files and my angle grinder:

Also, the crl says ”Sight shall be present on top where ribbing meets base” but no info on what it should look like...

So, following on from my relatively successful attempt at scratch building a T21, I thought I’d try my hand at a DLT-19 the same way. This won’t be a detailed WIP style thread, just a few progress pics as and when I have them.

I decided to go down the aluminium tube route and have it long enough to go through the receiver so it would help balance the weight out. I like my blasters to have some weight to them so they don’t feel like toys. A friend lent me his resin DLT to use as reference so I’m pretty much copying this. As with my T21, apart from the barrel tube, everything else will be handmade using scraps I’ve found at home.

Here’s where I’m at now...

I hade to make the muzzle myself from plastic tube by heating and forming it. I just didn’t think a mouthwash cap would be accurate enough for me. I have cheated with the bipod though, I actually managed to source this from eBay (just the legs)....though I have had to make the mount myself and I have made it so it will fold down and stow away.

Following on from my fairly successful scratch build T21 I fancy having a go at a DLT-19. While templates for the T21 were fairly easy to come by, I can’t find anything as detailed or as accurate for the DLT.

I’ve trawled through threads but find that the pics and links either won’t show or can no longer be accessed?

Can anyone help a fellow Sand Brother our please?

So... a new cycle has started for the MEPD under a new DL and a new energy is flowing among the detachment. This sounds to me like a great opportunity to start working again in my delayed projects awaiting on the work bench.

I will be building, upgrading and finishing various projects, including new weathering and adding my real hegnstler counter to my E11,  finishing building my ANOVOS armor, finishing my TK replica armor, building my Gino and TM buckets, and... upgrading my T21 BFG!

For that, I will be adding the ribbing engraving to the barrel using nylon thread, adding greeblies, upgrading some details, adding blue wire and finishing the weathering and ageing.

So... this is where I started:

This was a commission to a local artist/sculptor/prop builder... 

From there, I added the slings and into my first troop with it.

But I was never really happy with it. The size, shape and  diameter of the barrel, specially at the end, was not what I expected. So I modified it to make it more similar in shape to a real gun. I also added some parts inside the barrel and on other places... 

Unfortunately, I can't find a picture of the mods or the process.
 

Then, I also added weathered it and added the elastic plastic cord, and proceded to make further upgrades.

Now, I finally started the process to fully finish it.

This is when I first took some parts off it:

I do have one doubt, and if anyone has any idea, it will be more than welcome: How do you guys attached the greeblies over the nylon thread so that the screws do not cut it and ruin the whole work?

Will try to work on this, even if slowly, to finish it soon.

Or for that matter, a visual of what one would look like for any of the blasters we utilize. If nothing exists for the DLT-19, it would still be a good reference to help conceptualize. 

I was lucky to source an original MG 34 cooling jacket, bipod and flashhider. 

I´ve build my own wooden back part on my first Bapty DLT, but unfortunately was too busy last month to do that again (as it is quite a lot of work and very messy) ...fortunately I have a good friend who has already quite a lot of experience building these part and he has again done a terrific job on mine, couldn´t be happier, thanks a lot, Martin (Heroma)!

I have some replica grips from Latvia too, but dropped one of them and a part broke off... but as it only adds to the used look of the Bapty, I didn´t bother too much and used it anyway.

As this build actually uses the same approach as those by Jon and Thomas, I will not include any pics of the building process but only of the finished Blaster.
