neoakaj
I did go a head and slightly scale back I am using the fuller's earth method. I am putting it on pretty thick now, and then wiping it off with a wet rag. Seems to be giving the look I was after when I started.
FIVE
Looks good... but I think it's a bit much. Looks a bit "mud smeared" in a few places — under the eyes and that place above the VOX. Just work it down and layer it back up. The rest is beautiful! That's my 2¢
Baron
Actually, the two terms you really NEVER hear around here is "Back off" and "too much!" But looking at the pictures you posted, definitely needs to be more dirty. But try to spread it around and not really smear it. There are some really good tuts here on weathering you should check out. Not sure what method you are using, but you are on the right track
neoakaj
Fullers earth and hair spray is what I am doing. As for the smeared look on the forearm, thats due to sanding marks on the arm. This used to be my TK, but it has started turning color, purple in fact. The first attempt to fix it was to sand it down a bit and polish. Did not work so here I am
Baron
To each their own, but I am not a fan of fullers earth. But everyone has their own way and there is no "right or wrong" way to do it. Looking good so far, keep it up!!!!
iconoclasta_88
Looking good so far...What you want is a more organic look, with several layers one over the next one. So, yes, this is looking good... just rub most of it off, add another layer, rub it off and another and so on... Until you have the look you want. Unless aiming for SWAT, weathering is very personal. You will not hear much saying too much or too little, but we will always aim for the dirty organic look... for me, it used to be less is more (as for many others), but then, after SWAT, I wanted more and more... hehehe. Make it so you like it, just make it look more organic by adding more layers. Hope that helps. Saludos.
neoakaj
Nope I am not planing for SWAT, or at least with this kit. To many issues with it that would prevent SWAT outside of the weathering. Went a head and took off a bunch of what was there. I pretty much took a wet towel and wiped it over everywhere I am able to get my hand and fingers with ease. iconoclasta_88
Yes. That's the way to do it. You can use a dry paper towel too. Then add another layer and rub it off, and repeat until you like it. It will slowly turn into a more organic weathering. Keep us posted on your progress if you do it. Saludos.
neoakaj
I will admit in my last photo, it was very dark in the room and used my cell phone flash, so it created way more contrast than there really is.

iconoclasta_88
Looking good. Are you planning on keep the layers going or is this enough for your look? Saludos.
neoakaj
I might finish it this way and suit up, get some pictures taken and then see how it looks. I am not the best at being able to see what the finished look will be when it comes to stuff like this, so seeing it complete and on me will help in that choice. I was thinking if I were to do it over again, I would copy the 6 inch black figure's weathering as I am going to use the filter pack and have the approprate pouches and weapons... But ill still wait and see
iconoclasta_88
Sounds good. Just one thing, you might want to copy a real trooper from the movie instead of the toy. Its better to try the real look than a repro. If you need any reference, let us know. Saludos...
