IanL
I acquired (for free) a resin Lewis Gun. As you can see it was broken, most likely by a disgruntled spouse. It is cracked pretty cleanly, at the cooling rings, so I am looking for the best way to put this back together. I also need to refinish it, since the paint job is all cracked and alligatored. What's the best way to strip the paint (chemical or sanding). Lewis gun currently in 3 pieces. Need to glue barrel on somehow, and also fasten the stock back on Picture of pieces together at the break View inside at the break location
TD-4242
Well, for one thing the barrel is backwards. The ribbed section goes next to the reciever. That looks like it was out of the same molds as the one I'm doing. If you need repair parts let me know. As far as stripping paint off resin I have found brake fluid to be the best if a little messy. Just soak it in brake fluid and the paint will peel off. Then clean the parts really really good with soap and water. Hope this helps some. -Bill

jimbo890
also, I'd add some sort of rigid core to that thing. 1.25 inch PVC pipe for strength, right down the center.
