DirtyBoy
Ok....So here it is....some of you may or may not know, I have been working on the TD backpack trying to bring the quality up to what I expect as a buyer/builder. My packs are not perfect by any means but I try to do the best I can and show improvement with each build. Each kit is about 90% scratch built with 2 pieces I purchased through other members...The large radio dial (dana) and the syphon (gordon). I have decided to give away a free Sandtrooper backpack to a legion member who is the most deserving of such an item. Its my way of giving back to a member who has really impacted the lives of others. Basically it will go like this. You will receive this backpack absolutely free of charge. The recipient will be determined by my fellow Command Staff members in the MEPD. You must submit why you should be the recipient of this backpack or be nominated by a fellow trooper prior to July 1st and the recipient will be notified on July 4th. *****Recipient will be responsible for shipping charges only. MY ONLY STIPULATION IS YOU CAN NEVER SELL THIS PACK!!! It must be passed on free of charge to another member when the time comes.
FIVE
This is an AWESOME gesture man!!!!!!! Wow! This is the kind of thing that makes the MEPD great! (this and dirty awesome armor and big guns and great people and........ )
td7603
good lord man!!! and god knows i could use an accurate pack... but there is someone out there more deserving i'm sure of it... but how does one judge that? on what merit? I've been nominated for trooper of the month recently, but there def is someone out there, who is out trooping for the good of the MEPD more than some of us... can we nominate people? I have a few in mind.
FIVE
can we nominate people? I have a few in mind.Yeah, nominate people if you want! And don't worry... we have a very strict standard of measurement using squirrels, cotton balls, and a flashlight to determine the winner. I would like everyone to share their story...it could be someone that doesnt have the ability to build a kit....a trooper that has demonstrated uncompromising integrity....a person in financial hardship....etc....etc... the command staff will vote on July 2nd and 3rd. whos knows...it could be you
iconoclasta_88
This is awesome!!! Hope lots of troopers nominate other troopers, and lots of troopers share their own stories!! GRAT Rick!! And thx for doing this... Saludos
FIVE
I'd say too that if — for whatever reason — you want your story / the story of the nominated person to be kept private, PM Rick and we'll keep it private. But, the more inspiring stories we get on here the more fun this will be!
TD-1536
Outstanding gesture of good will. Much like water finds it's natural equilibrium, I'm sure this backpack will find a deserving home.
bountyone
Great idea Rick, thanks for doing this. Who knows, this might inspire others to "give back" to this great community of brotherhood we share. Maybe we could have a Cargo Hold of other donated items for people in need. Most of us here have a duplicate of one thing or another that we could donate. This is great karma man and hope those who receive these items, pay it forward to others in need some day.
Quartermaster
OUTSTANDING Rick! I absolutely LOVE this. It's this sort of thing that makes the MEPD the place to be. I know I haven't been posting here long, but I am honored to be on this forum! This is what it's all about. That being said, I'd like to make a nomination. I do not know him except from seeing his post here on the MEPD. Earlier this May, Nathan a.k.a. Slave1Pilot and his family had fallen on some hard times. Pretty sure he had to unload all or most of his Sandtrooper gear. He is Deployed MEPD, which takes a tremendous amount of time, effort and money to achieve. Some of you here at the MEPD probably know more about his status. I'm sure those of you who know his situation well would agree it would be nice to see if we could help him get back to trooping as a TD again! bountyone
I second that nomination, Nathan (aka,Slave1pilot) has indeed endured his fair share of crap the past couple of years. Nate and michelle were both laid off from work and had no medical insurance, he recently had to sell his pack and other items just so he could take his wife to see a specialist because her pain level had become unbarable.Nathan and his family are some of the coolest people you'll ever meet. If anyone deserves this pack, it's Nate for sure.
Rolf
Nice pack bro Rick. Congrats from here.
6170
While I do not personally know Natan, I am aware of the hard times his family has endured in the recent past. I would agree with those above that if he were to decide to go TD again then he should be a strong candidate for this pac.
TD-7620
Really nice pack! Wish it could be mine, but must agree on what is said above. I've never met Nathan myself, but from what I've heard, he's a real standup guy. And I can't think of anyone else that deserves this pack more. sir david
rick...yet again you are a total star!!!!!!! a very noble, caring and selfless gesture!!! someone out there is gonna get a rocking pack bro! i totally agree with the trooper helping trooper thing, as earlier this year, at a very large(and supposedly "secure" ) event in the uk,one of our tks had all his kit stolen after building was closed and we had all gone home and that place was plastered with security/cctv cams,so our c.o suggested donations to help him-the responce was amazing,we raised enough to get him a full set of TM to replace his missing fx,a new version 3 rom fx,new canvas belt,e-11,undersuit,neckseal,and i made him a new holster! that guy lives for his trooping, and felt gutted to lose his beloved kit,so what better than to get him into the white stuff a.s.a.p!! its great that through everyones small donations, love and brotherhood,we have made a massive difference to his life!(and thanx troopermaster! ) LETS KEEP THIS UP BROTHERS!I'M ALL FOR THIS! DirtyBoy
Thanks Dave....I wish we all lived within "reasonable" driving distance of one another....We could totally all hang out together....everyone here really seems to think the way I do. Help whenever we can and treat people the way we want to be treated. Being a Sandtrooper is not about slapping some dirt on your armor....throwing on a pauldron and carrying around a "BFG"....its so much more than that...its a complete mindset. Whats funny is I built a Snowy and a Commander Gree....both approved and done over weeks of non stop work. I only wear my Sandtrooper

slave1pilot
I have had quite a bit of bad luck (more than my normal amount) this past year or so, and I did have to sell my Sandy helmet, armor, backpack, pouches, and binocs. But I did it for the right reason- mrs.slave1pilot. I don't regret it for a second, she is my world and I would do anything for her. I appreciate everyone's kind words and the idea that I would deserve this pack, but I can not accept it. I will create another sandtrooper in the future, that's a given. I still have my T-21,my pauldrons, and my boots. Blastmaster bought my Binocs with the sole purpose of holding them for me until I can afford to buy them back (thanks Al). I have already started acquiring the parts to replace my #4 pack http://www.looksirdroids.com/backpacks.html I am also working out a deal to get a set of AP armor to replace my FX TK. The FX TK will then be turned into my Sandy and I'll be back on patrol as soon as that's done. Please give this pack to someone else. I'm sure that someone out there is far more deserving and is worse off than I am.

I only wear my Sandtrooper there is something about a td that makes em so unbelieveably cool!,i did tk last month at a large event, and just vanished into a sea of white!!! (i took my td,but chose to do tk that weekend! ),but there were only 2 sandies(smally, and indiana- 2 mepd members,as yet not deployed, but should be as their gear is spot on! ) and 2 snowies there, and the attention those guys got was astounding!! the sandie looks battle hardened, like he means business, looks cool with the dirt, pack and pouches, and has some of the best weaponry in the empire!!-the tks look like theyve been hanging around on the death star for too long doing nothing!!! lol i must admit though i just throw my tk in the case (as i do the td!)any marks from trooping STAY PUT as they add to the "worn effect" (there are guys who bubble wrap each part of their tk armour and carefully pack it in their cases, but thats not for me!) my tk was virgin white at that troop,as it was ukg branded then, but has a multitude of marks from my blaster and black boot sole marks on the shins, but it looks USED!(theres another tk who preffers to leave his lovely tm armour marked up as well!) so maybe DIRTY IS THE NEW WHITE!!! :D :D
DirtyBoy
Wow Rick, I take my hat off to you for this gesture - what a nice thing to do. To think that some one from the MEPD will get this special gift......... the funny thing is that the whole gesture will mean alot more to them than the back pack itself....... I need a tissue dudes... Youre a top bloke Rick. Smally. P.S. Cheers Dave , another top bloke!. Thanks Brad...this is going legion wide so hopefully we can get another TD deployed. Brothers helping Brothers is what the MEPD is all about.

Amish Trooper
I don't know if Amptrooper TK 9025 is interested but I have followed his build and seen some of the work he has done. Instead of letting the loss of his leg hold him back he embraced it and incorporated it into his trooper and personifies what the 501st is about. Here is a link to some of his troops. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=11376 So that is who I nominate
