How to: T-21 Blaster scratch build

Recommended Posts

Filled the inside to make it more solid

Dry fit of rear sight cover

Front sight detail. I just drew this by eyeballing reference images.

Cut it out

Screwed and glued into place. I added a "bolt" detail using a rivet, I slotted it with a Dremel. Didn't want to use a real screw in case I split the wood

Lining things up. Who likes Spam? :)

Posted Image

Back to that round detail, added the knob using a strip of wood and a screw

I'll fill the hole with Bondo later

Posted Image

Opposite side is a screw, also bondoed later

Templates peepholes?

Thanks

I think if you read the post on the tutorial you will see that this was done by eye and not a reference template.

Why isn't this thread stickied? It's a very good resource for building a T-21 :)

Quoted for truth!

I know I'm late to this party, but I've got to say that this build is dead sexy, and has convinced me that I need to make one of these as well.

:td:

Thanks for posting this! It convinced me that I could build a T-21 and has been a fantastic resource.

One question that I'm still struggling with: what size PVC should be used on the receiver/body? The tutorial mentions 2", although standard 2" schedule 40 PVC seems too big. The two options I've found are 1.5" PVC (just under 2" OD) and 2" tubing for a central vacuum system (exactly 2" OD, thinner walls). Anyone else run into this and have a better option?

Let me ask this question - what does this thing weigh? Helps to know how long on a troop I might be able to use this.

Excellent build by the way!
