lordvader74
Excellent job as always Rolf! Since you have it in hand, how does the size compare to an AP, CAP, TE2, or MRCE?
Rolf
Excellent job as always Rolf! Since you have it in hand, how does the size compare to an AP, CAP, TE2, or MRCE? Thanks for kind replys bro´s I have sold my GF, AP, TM, TE2 helmets here. So i can´t make a compare shot. But the DL should be a first generation cast, and there for a bit bigger then the AP, CAP, TE2. I got this shot. DL, AP, TE:
Rolf
Here a few new pictures from today... Out side this time. Enjoy
firebladejedi
Nice Is it just me or does it look as if the brow should sit higher? It may be that we are just used to seeing the Brian helmet and this Dave lid is that much different? Very nice all the same, and it is nice to see a different take on a screen used helmet. All the best, mark.
Rolf
Thanks Mark. Here you see the Dave M helmet: The Brian R helmet: Just to name a few details. The Dave M helmet, have a more round skull vs. the Brian R helmet. Its also goes more pointy out, and have smaller mic tip hole areas. The left side tube (looking at the front), are way more slim then the right one. The nose are way more sharp etc... Cheers
Rolf
Here is a few more : Mark is right. This is a Dave M helmet cast, not a Brian R, like the TE/TE2 etc we know off. The Dan Laws helmet, is a first generation 3D helmet scan cast. Here you go: Here you see how to do it: http://widgets.nbc.com/o/47f1317f105123ad/...ba4377d3bfd6c81 One more: http://www.danielsdse.com/vfx-gallery Here you can see my Dan Laws helmet kits: (Dan Laws have not these helmets/kits for sale yet, only a few people have one) Cheers . Too Much Garlic
Beautiful helmet. Very nicely put together. What does a kit cost? Mind if I use this picture?
Rolf
Thanks! Yeah just use the picture bro . These helmets are not for sale yet, as far as i know there are only one in Asia and the US there have one. Sold, ready to wear. And now this one here, i sold to firebladejedi in the UK. I got a mail from DL, where its says a assembled helmet will be 360$. I don´t think, they will sell them cheaper as kits.
JoeR
The cap just doesn't look right at all to me. The FG SFS cap is much closer to the original. What happened to the cap with this one, did he change the mould? Joe
RoCKo
cap looks a little to high for me too but nevertheless you´ve outdone yourself once again, Rolf! i admire your skills building all those awesome pieces! i REALLY do hope me next kit will look half as good as yours! Rolf
cap looks a little to high for me too but nevertheless you´ve outdone yourself once again, Rolf! i admire your skills building all those awesome pieces! i REALLY do hope me next kit will look half as good as yours! Thanks for your kind reply bro . I´m not a maker, and i have never own, or hold a screen used helmet. I have only seen a ANH hero proto type on a sci fi con, in sweden. Nothing more. Where to start. As i said i´m not a maker, so i´m not 100% sure how accurate this helmet is. But i guess pretty accurate. But i must say, i have a bit of a hard time to putting it together. My plan was to trim, and assemble it, on about 2 hours work. But it took me around 2 days (and its whit out the paint job, it took me another 2 days). The face mask, did not fit into the back cap that easy (it like to go up, like the more hero look). And the ear caps, was hard to get right. If you want the right angle on them, and at the same time trim them in the right thickness. There are many different angles, on this Dave M helmet vs. the Brian R helmet/TE/TE2 etc... The DL/Dave M helmet. Have a smaller skull, and its more round, then the TE helmet. The tubes are also different, one tube is very slim, and the other one fat. The ear cap around the slim tube, go long out vs the fat tube, fit ear cap. If you like to centre the nose, and at the same time, have the two grey areas left and tight in front of you. They turn. Because they are about 2 cm longer up, then the other one... Its a very nice helmet, a must have for a real collector. Its very accurate, first generation, sharp as ****. I really love this helmet, maybe we just need to get to know it better. Because we have been looking at the Brian R helmets, for so many years now. One last thing, its also a bit harder to assembe it. Because the 60 gauge glossy flex ABS plastic parts, move around like an egg. When you like to add it together vs. the more stiff e.g TE/TE2 hips parts. But i must say, i´m very proud for the look of this helmet. There are not much, i chould have done better on it. In a way, it looks even better in real life. When you can hold it, and see all the details for your self for real.
Too Much Garlic
Cool, thanks... With the next you assemble, try to achieve that ongoing curve of the lower tubes from front to back. You nearly got it with this one, but if you pull the face part back about ½ centimeter or less down at the bottom, it'd be better I think. Very well put together. I know the angles aren't exactly right and I know how difficult it is to get every assembly right...
Rolf
Copy that . I have been thinking about the same thing too. Also before i assemble it. But if i do, the two grey painted areas in the ends of the bow trim. Will sit so you can them both as much, left and right. Looking at the helemt, from the front. I might do it any way, but then one of grey areas will be more visible, then the other one. But its fun to assemble, a new kind of helmet. I have assemble GF, AP, TM, TE2, and now DL too. Rolf
Thanks bro . This time i don´t use my dremel. I only use 4 different scissors, and 2 hobby knifes. The helmets, are made out of some kind of flex abs, so i can just cut them like that. The hips helmets, are way more stiff, and i normal use my dremel there. Cheers. The Dave M helmet, have a lot new shapes to it. After me assemble of: 2 GF, 2 AP, 2 TM, 2 te2, so have been used to look at the Brian R a like helmets.
