Theo
I'm not talking about the extra stuff to become MEPD as opposed to basic 501st TD, I'm referring to the list of 501st requirements on the 'What It Takes' page, which lists: BFG, Pouches, & Backpack. The 501st charter (Article II) lists Pauldron, Backpack and one of: - dirty armor - modified armor (knee plate, abdomen, lenses, etc.) - BFG/dewback prod - ammo pouches Just thought I'd point out the disconnect, since I noticed it today while I was trying to verify what the 501st requirements were. (They need to have a page on the 501st site to list the requirements instead of just burying them in the charter.)
TD7722
I believe you're referring to it stating 'Pauldron' in the charter, and 'Pouches' listed twice here - http://www.sandtrooper.net/mepd/require/ - yes, this is a small error thats been overlooked(until now). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The requirements in the charter are to become a TD - not too close to the movie(you dont even need dirt). To become a "fully deployed MEPD officer", is where the newer requirements come into play. This is for the guys that go the extra steps to make their gear as movie accurate as possible. An extra web page was created for those of us who have met these requirements - http://www.sandtrooper.net/mepd/deployed/index.htm - and Josh(our webmaster here) is currently asking for those that need to be added to that page, to sound off on this thread - http://www.sandtrooper.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=514 Hope this clears up any confusion
hpdblues
Greetings Josh, I am assuming that you updated our "What It Takes" page. Thanks. Please note the following typos: fallowing vs. following desination vs. designation Also me thinks we need to add the section about the pauldron and field pack for those who are unable to visit the 501st website and read the requirements at: http://www.501st.com/documents/501stcharter.htm#ArtII For those who might have a question, please allow me to quote directly from the 501st Charter in regards to SANDTROOPERS: "TD- Trooper, Desert Trooper / Sand Trooper To be posted as a Desert Trooper/Sandtrooper on 501st.com, a member must have: A Pauldron, Field Pack, and 1 other item from the following list: dirty armor modified armor (modified knee plate, abdomen, flat lenses, etc.) dewback prod/MG34/MG15/lewis gun or other similarly styled BFG ammo pouches" Okay? Anyone else have any questions about 501st AND MEPD requirements? No? Good! Carry on! Guns
Daetrin
Why are the 501st requirements so loose?
TD-3150
We could also go an extra step to being movie accurate and have unsymetrical, poorly cast armor falling apart, lol.......as far as I know, the 501st keeps it fairly loose to encourage more people to become a part of the legion, while still maintaining "professional quality" standards. Heck, if you think about it, we all prety much have 500% better quality costumes than the originals used in ANH.
tk432
thanks for letting me know. i will try to get it changed asap. (the 501st requirements are very loose, we have been trying to get them closer to our standards for years)
SethB6025
We could also go an extra step to being movie accurate and have unsymetrical, poorly cast armor falling apart, lol........Yes! That's perfect! We'll be changing requirements shortly... Also, for deployment you will need a roll of gaffers tape.
Caomhanach
Also, for deployment you will need a roll of gaffers tape. Duct tape is like the force, it has a dark side, a light side and it holds the universe together...

SethB6025
Short-pants trooper!!! Hmmm, if it's just barely off-screen, is it still screen accurate??
