After seeing that Rolf just got a new job, I realized that I only know what a few of you guys do for a living. I thought that it would be interesting to see what everyone does when they aren't reading MEPD (or what some of you are supposed to be doing but are instead reading the forums).

So I guess I'll start:

I'm currently taking several graduate classes online at the University of Nebraska and delivering pizzas to get by. I'm about to move to New Orleans this summer, so I'm currently looking for a job in the art field or perhaps a teaching position.

Let's hear what your day jobs are troops!

My official title is "Service Manager/Coordinator" for a small Apple consultant in the Washington DC area. I've been here for over eight years and been an Apple service technician (IT support) since 1999. I basically manage our office, coordinate all on-site service calls and repair Apple computers. I've also held multiple Apple Certifications since 2002.

In the evenings, I teach myself more about prop fabrication, prop molding and casting. One day I'd like to transition from a 9 to 5 office job to a more creative outlet.

I'm a GS-11 Lieutenant (Shift Supervisor) for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Currently, I work at FCC Lompoc, CA. I started at USP ******* in Louisiana and transferred to FCC Forrest City, AR. I left AR about 2 years ago to come out here and it has definitely been an adventure.

My job is purchasing assistent at one of the Dutch utility companies called "Delta".

We are a multi-utility company, because next to the control and distribution of water, natural gas and electricity we also have a big waste disposal facility( one of the biggest in europe), internet, digital television and telephony..

My purchasing area involves all the parts used for transport of natural gas and water, big *** valves, pipes, couplings. From the powerplatnt to the customers at home...I also take a small part of our Electrical department, cableworks etc.

Besides that I am what they call a Key User for our department envolving the usage of our sytem we work with..SAP.

When I find time beside that I create articlenumbers for our warehouse and manage them also( about 7500 pcs), and last but not least I am also the watchdog regarding contracts with suppliers...just to make sure that everything is ok and according to the last mutual agreement.

Pffew...never realised that I had such a workload...

Porn Star. Yes it's hard being with all the beautiful women all day. Sometimes I have to take on more than two girls at one time. Just kidding! I'm a prison guard for the feds in Chicago. :D

Almost the same..

I train all of West-Central Florida, and the areas in which I train on, range from Accounting, to Daily Rental, to Remarketing to well pretty much anything that needs to be addressed from employee development to retention to profitability etc. Yeah, I've got my hand in every cookie jar....

I sit in my big, comfy chair... then I get up and check the mailbox. Sometimes there are checks in there. But, I think that is not a good way to live, so... I am looking for work.

Mainly Photoshop, Illustrator, and NewTek Lightwave. When working, I composite, draw illustrations, and render 3D art as a contractor WHEN I am working.

I work (and have worked) for the Industrial-Military Complex (like Lockheed-Martin and a company I can't name right yet – yes, I have seen some secret stuff) and I help them showcase their systems... mainly to sell to the customer, and in most cases, the U.S. Government.

And, just lately, I am getting into 3D prototyping of items I think are interesting, and maybe could be replicated. To prototype, I draw something, and to make these "3D Prints" I use a mix of CNC cutting, and 3D rapid prototyping.

I may buy a laser cutter, or a zCorp Rapid Prototype Machine soon. We shall see.

BUT, if anyone needs a 3D object made, I can draw it, and it can be made in a short timeframe and printed at a vendor I use.

So, that is what I do.

John

I don't say much on the forums but can't resist this thread. For 18 almost 19 years now I have been an over the road truck driver. It has it's ups and downs at times just like any other job. The up side is that I have been too all 48 states and parts of Canada, and if I am in the right area at the right time I stop in and pickup stuff from people that I purchase. (Right Mike?) Sure theres no home life or social life but most of my friends only call me when they want something anyways not just to hang out. Thats another reason I don't post much here don't have a laptop (not a rich truck driver yet).

Awesome thread!

I'm a General Building & Plumbing Contractor, Spent twenty six years in the plumbing Industry, worked on all of the military bases, NASA, lots of schools, Hospitals, etc. Before starting up my own business in 2001 I was a specialist at the largest company in my area........if something needed fixing or warranty work they usually sent me. My area was the entire state of California! So I developed a strange habbit of talking to myself while on the road......kind of thanful for Bluetooth. Now I don't look so crazy to other drivers. I'm certified for all kinds of plumbing installation techniques including Medical Gas piping, PE and PP fusion, Welding and Braizing, etc. I can operate whatever piece of heavy equipment you've got, install site utilities, etc. My employer back then even had me working under-water!!!!! I still wonder why I had to wear a lanyard and harness on high rise construction projects when most of the time there was nothing to tie off to??? Well chances are if you eat a carrot or tomatoe that started out in SoCal, it bounced it's way through processing equipment I installed. If you're ever in Corcoran Prison, that ACH Hospital was my babey. The National Guard Armory in Fresno on Clovis Ave. was my home for almost three years and the only piece of pipe on the entire site I didn't work with was the flagpole though the Colonel did ask me if I liked it! I'm proud to have worked with some of the best men in the industry and know them still as my friends.

When I went into business for myself I had some carpenters, plumbers, and hot moppers going. 80% of waterproofing in new construction here was my company. We subbed out to other plumbers for their med gas too. I chose to specialize in areas others wouldn't touch and it payed off. We took the remote location jobs too and were able to name our price every time. I am extremely proud to say I NEVER had illegals working on any of my projects so nobody can point the finger at me where that's concerned.

Spent a little time on the Big Island working with friends in 2006-07. Built a church, some homes, did a lot of exploring! Came home to help with sick family members and never went back. Work part time in my wife's Insurance agency now and part time with my contracting though these days it's repair and maintenance I'm doing there.

I am a student of World History as a hobby, I also enjoy Diving, Fishing, Shooting, and the occasional Turkey or Pheasant Hunt. Load my own ammo and do my own gunsmithing. These days I serve on a couple of foundations, donate myself to "Homes for our Troops", and enjoy a bit of Star Wars Tomfoolery with all of you guys. :)

Soon you'll find me in my garden listening to Reggea and mellowing out. So now you guys know me a little better. :)
