Rolf
Hi there, around the world. I just wanna talk about what you think/know, have seen when it comes to the locations of this hobby etc. First of all, it seems like most of the takes was done in either the UK or US. Many other places too, like Norway and tunisia. But not much to find there. Because it was only takes, and back home to the studios again. So if we shall find some real props, from the people around the making of these movie. I guess, we will find them to be in either the UK or the US. In there ceilings, garage sale etc. I live about 1 hour, away from UK/London by plain. I have been there 3 times + 1 time in Tunisia, but never hunt the star wars studio locations. Here comes my questions: 1). Have some of you seen the Elstree studios, for you self. 2). If so, is there something to see/find around there. 3). Where is it, near by London or... 4). Do they still have a LFL archive, or is all the LFL props back in the US/California again. 5). What about AA aka SDS, how many have seen he´s studio in the uk. I guess he don´t have nothing from the saga there, only recast now a days modify stuff or.... How long away from London, is he´s Shepperton design studio. What´s is there to see in California. 1). Sky walker ranch in California/ San francisco. Do George Lucas have most of he´s props there or what. 2). How many have been in the LFL archives in California, or near by them. 3). How many have seen the Death Valley in California, maybe take a few pictures there (do it still look like it did back then). As you can see, i live in Denmark. Nothing happen around here, when it comes to this hobby of ours. So it will be nice, to hear your story´s if you got some. If i was a California man, or UK born. I guess i will check out the locations, my self... Hope to hear some of your story´s/ knowledge on this subject. http://www.starwarsarchives.com/ http://www.sdsprops.com/ http://www.starwarshelmets.com/ http://www.originalprop.com/blog/?p=3242 http://basekomm.com/tunesien/tunisia1.html This site is the LFL archives, but out of order. http://roguedesigner.home.comcast.net/~rog...FLArchive1.html Peace out . Lufo1138
I've been to Skywalker Ranch on a few occasions. The surrounding grounds look like Naboo countryside. But not much in the way of props that I have seen. Mostly decor with threepios and/or artoos here or there. I think a yoda maybe. They have some props at ILM. Han in carbonite is there, along with several full stormtroopers just standing in the hallway. I guess the motherlode is still in the archives, though Luke's original ANH/ESB lightsaber recently sold on ebay for $200k, from Kurtz's personal collection (http://www.originalprop.com/blog/?p=8335). TD-1536
Good luck on your quest!! I know after checking out those newly documented location sites on Google Earth, I'd seriously consider visiting the red woods location (supposedly private land) and the Sand Dunes in Buttercup Valley CA. Let the story´s come in. Some of us must have been near by some of the props, and locations out there. C ya .

Sorry i´m not 100% sure, of those names. Is red wood, the endoor scene location or... Sand dunes, is that the return of the jedi location. Where Jabba wanna kill Luke and Han, in the eating hole Boba Fett falls in. Is the dunes, in the state of Arizona. Cheers .

WhiteCommandoV2
At the Studios at Las Colinas (in Irving, Texas near DFW Airport), had some choice display props... at least I heard. One of the very few Death Star Fleet Troopers helmets was there – and may have gone a missing. Any DFW Metro folks chime in on the inventory that was there. Also, I have heard there may be a Boba Helmet floating around this region, owned by a reclusive wealthy collector... it has some distinct cracks, that may of been caused during stunt filming, when Boba fell face down on the skiff, before being piked, and then falling to his death in the Sangina Beast. :o I would love to see this stuff... that said, one of our members here... has seen some of these things. I swore an oath to never reveal his name... and it is not one of our "usual" guys... so don't guess. Moving along... I also believe there was a screen used TK suit (or original extra pull parts suit) here in the DFW Metro – from either ESB or ROTJ – and was replicated by a bad person, just 12 miles from my home... Ernie Scheuer. I think it was formerly know as Universal Armor, and this was available in the late 90s, before the guy fled to the Philippines for having child pornography on his computer. This man is now Star Fortress Productions. He was a friend of my step-brother, ironically. So Rolf, come on to Dallas, and we will show you a good time!!! And we can try to track these items down! nice-biscuit
I've been to SDS but there is nothing there but the stuff he is doing now. The original studio where they produced ANH burnt down didn't it and hasn't he moved since? It's about an hour outside of London in Surrey. We could go and check out those mould making skills of his Rolf.

We could go and check out those mould making skills of his Rolf. Copy that mate . It pretty easy to see, he´s suits have not touch much from back then. AP, TE2, TM, are much more accurate suits. He pull them back then, nothing more as far as i know (he did not make the molds). I have read, that he´s studio burn down in the early 80´. But also that he through out the ANH molds, just to clean up in he´s studio. (not because of the fire, because he clean them out before that. he´s worlds biggest mistake). dutchy
I'm guessing that the Elstree studios are closest by for us Rolf, so maybe we could arrange a joined trip to the studios one day or at least go to the site where all the magic took place and see if we can find some areas that are still intact. Tunesia is also a great place to visit, but it seems that nobody has been taking care of the film sites anymore. That's a pity because in that way we will loose a bit of cinematic history I think. I am also not aware if it is safe to visit or that you should travel in a group or something. And ILM..that would be something... @ pappy...the exhibition wasn't that special, I visited it when it hit brussels last year..was a bit dissapointing.
