TD-1536
Good screen capture... I didn't catch that. Also, don't forget white gaffers tape.
TD7377
Hehehe...well, when my blind snap fails I'll know what to do! Thanks for the pic.
TD1149
That's cool. It's amazing that for as much as we pour over all these armor photos and footage we are still able to discover new things. Nice work Josh.
SethB6025
Ahh, the trooper of ANH. Where would they be without gaffers tape? Do you suppose its imperial issue?
TD-4242
You seem to get much better screen grabs from the DVD than I can. Could you go through and get several pics of the back packs and post them?

trooperwannabe
Guys, that's probably gaffer's tape. Permacel is a main brand and is used in Movie biz pretty standard really (holds pinky to corner of mouth).
tk432
what exactly is gaffer tape.. it it just slightly different from duct tape?
Theo
As I understand it (and I could be wrong), gaffer's tape is essentially black, fabric-based duct tape. Of course that could have just been a poor-college-theatre-group substitute.
trooperwannabe
gaffer's tape isn't just black. It can be grey, white, or black...maybe other colors too. I just know these three are common. Also, it comes in different widths. However, it could be $40-$60 a roll. It is fabric, matte finish, and the adhesive is strong, but removable and re-applicable. For all those reasons, the movie industry uses it.
klynn
DOes anyone else have a hard time watching these movies given our intimate knowledge of armor? I was watching ANH with my brother, and I kept picking out flaws in the armor. It was kind of depressing :/
Theo
Nah. Just remember, if it's in ANH, ESB, or RotJ, it's 'proper' armor. (even the guys with the gaffer's tape. )
Commander Najera
I noticed it too it's only in the one scene it's normal in the others
