iconoclasta_88
What is this Mike and where can I get one from? Do you mean the "box" or the "tip"? The box is a cold weather outdoor faucet cover. You can get it a your local hardware or home improvement store, if you live in a cold weather region. Jersey can get cold I guess... right? The tip is a vaccu-formed piece. That one you can get from a few makers... two of them being Crashmann and TK4510. Also, I guess Crashmann is still producing MIke's backpack kits, so he can probably get you the faucet cover if you don't find it locally. Hope it helps, Saludos. DirtyBoy
I also make the stinger and can get the faucet cover I needed.
crashmann
You can also find the Cold Weather Faucet Cover on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Thermwell-Products-FC2-Faucet-Cover/dp/B004434KGE/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_1 Although shipping to the UK might be rather expensive If you need other parts, let me know, and I'd be glad to bundle everything together to save on shipping. TD-4510
Whatever happened to TD-1536?? Mike Harrison??? He set the standard when I was here last.
iconoclasta_88
Whatever happened to TD-1536?? Mike Harrison??? He set the standard when I was here last. Have no idea. His TD is the main reason I started to push the limits on my own armor, and walk the extra mile. I guess he just had to leave the sandy rest for a while and focus on other projects. After two periods as CO and a few years dedicated to this site, he deserved a vacation. Anyway... He is a very important part of this detachment and a TD legend! Would be cool to see him back here sometime. Saludos
kenthork
it was also for me an example and trigger in the fact of wanting to have a sandtrooper armor. he established the foundations of what is now the MEPD. it would be great to have news of what he became. iconoclasta_88
This pack was an awesome research and later a kit development, by Mike Harrison a few years ago. Mike was Detachment Leader and lots of the push Sandtrooper character had a few years ago was due to his portrayal and the research he did together with Seth B and other members here. Also, his armor was used for most Sandtrooper Hasbro packaging before the black series. This kit was, and still is availabla AFAIK, from Crashmann, member of these board too. Need top say that even if this is awesome and will be a great base for a pack, some parts (as the syphon) are now outdated due to newer research and discoveries. Measurements are still valid for the most anyway. If you want a this kit, contact Crashmann, I am sure he will help you out. Other makers are Dirty Boy and Quartermaster. You cant go wrong with any of them as long as you know what you are aiming for. Saludos.

crashmann
Hi Gang, and yes I'm still offering backpack kits. As parts have been identified and new sources found, the backpack kit has continued to evolve. I'm not nearly as busy as Dirty Boy or Quartermaster, but I'm still able to help the supply lines Here's a photo gallery of the Sandtrooper Backpack Kit: http://tk386.com/sandtrooper_backpack_kit The Wet Ones bottles have been replaced with plain white bottles. Time for another photo session Here's a video of me and Seth B pulling parts for the backpack kits on my old vacuum forming table way back when the garage was new (2007): The garage is a little messier now Charlie
iconoclasta_88
Cool! This does bring some good memories. That is the kit I made my second pack (the first accurate one)... Then I upgraded to the new Radio Run, Zenix version. I wanted one of those made by Mike H, but only a few were made. Rolf and Bluey had one if I remember correctly. This kit is still the base for my SWAT backpack! Thx Charlie for posting and helping our troops. Saludos
dutchy
My backpack is a MH-SB kit too...upgraded though now. He really set the standard and it was great to have to him run the show here.

thisiskevin
Hi Mike, I know this is a really old thread, but i'm just wondering if you still have that tutorial? I'm still hesitating whether i want to scratch build my backpack or buy the kit. If its doable, i would prefer to make my own and hope i can save lots of cash during the process! Thanks a lot man! crashmann
Mike doesn't visit these parts very often, and his website has disappeared into the ether. Fortunately I saved a copy of his build tutorial here: http://tk386.com/sandtrooper_backpack/ It's been almost 10 years since I started working with Mike and Seth to create an accurate backpack kit! Thanks to the hard work of MEPD troopers, new information is always being discovered, and the kit has continued to evolve. Charlie
