Dewback_droppings
Has anyone made a pack using TK-409s method? If so, how did you attatch the straps? Screws? Rivets? I'm a bit confused. It seems to me that these straps will take a bit of stress and I want to make sure that they are secure. It seems like a rivet will allow the strap to slip off. I don't know. Any help out there? Dewback_droppings
Never mind! Found an alternate way to attatch the straps. Thanks anyway!
TD257
I used rivets for mine and haven't had a problem with them coming off...the strap material is some pretty heavy webbing material. I'm curious as to what method you finally used. I may want to redo my straps if I can get those rivets out...they're in there pretty tight. Dewback_droppings
I decided to go with a screw and nut combo. I ran the screws through the outside of the tub and then ran it through the strapping that is on the inside of the tub. Fastened it down with a nut with a little loctite on it. ANd then, as added insurance, I covered the entire nut in hot glue. It ain't going anywhere! My only fear with this set-up is that the stress may eventually tear the straps from the screw. I added a second screw to each strap in an attempt to distribute the load more evenly. I think this may have gotten it, but, as you all already know, it is all a work in progress, right?! Thanks for the interest and I hope this helps. If you need them, I can post some pics for you in my album. Thanks again!
Jack_bauer
I tried the TK-409 way but it was just too darn uncomfortable. When i complete the MDK Pack, I'll post some pics of the new improved strap system.
