Hausi
Hi everybody, my first scratchbuilt T-21 has been sold and I´ve bought a new one. As I really liked the sturdiness of my rubber-foam DLT 19 from RS propmasters, I wanted something similar for my T-21. I really like the Hyperfirm Lewis gun, but living in Germany, it´s very hard to get one, as shipping to Europe is not an option for hyperfirm. I stumbled across shootandscoot.co.uk and their rubber prop looked great, so I gave it a shot, although I wasn´t sure if it would work out for me. Also tried to contact some mates in the UK, asking if they knew anyone having any experience with shootandscoot, but nobody had. But Warren who runs shootandscoot is a nice guy, although very busy supplying movies with rubber props, so it took quite some time for my Lewis gun to arrive, but he added some goodies for my inconveniences. And what can I say, I´m very happy with the Lewis gun, most details are very sharp, especially the ribbing on outer barrel, as well as the lettering on the gun. There are also some minor rough edges ...and it´s quite heavy, but should I ever drop it, I know that it will hold up, only my paintjob might get scratched. The blaster came with an ANH Vader-like paintjob, just some brushed on gunmetal paint and some brown for the stock. I have kept the stock and grips as they were but I completely redid the paint on the rest. I used Tamiya gunmetal first, then used some Tamiya aluminum, I then gave it some drybrushing of rub´n buff antique gold on the ribbed section of the barrel, gold leaf on the cooling fins and silver leaf on the rest, after that I used revell colour stop to mask of certain areas to emulate wear around the edges. of the receiver. I completely masked off the barrel areas with the ribbing and gave it a coat of matte black spray paint, after rubbing off the colour stop fluid and taking off the masking tape, I gave it a wash of a mixture of watered down black and chocolate brown acrylic paint to make it look like my real Sterling, which I have used as a colour reference. I also used some pics of a real vintage Lewis gun. reference real Lewis gun: a pic of my Sterling: And pics of the final paintjob on the rubber Lewis: in the picture above you can also see some of the rough edges in the cast. dutchy
That's a thing of beauty! But didn't you have any problems with german customs? I know that when I want my hands on a detailed blaster like that I'll have to go and pick it up myself.

Hausi
Thank you very much! Blaster has since been finished, I have added some fuel hose and electric wire and added some dirt by giving it a wash with watered down game colour earth, the only thing which is still missing are the greeblies on top and at the bottom, will probably get some 3D printed ones. Here are some pics of the blaster in its current state. With the Enfield sling (actually two of them) added: And because my blasters were just standing in the corner or lying on my shelf and collecting, I had to come up with a better way of presenting them, so I have build this: Cheers mates

RoCKo
Yeah, i had the same problems while posting, looks like a problem since the last forum update! AND... Your blaster looks great, love the added details! Some fine day i will do a repaint of my rubber MG-15 from the Sci-Fire run back then... I was always to worried about using wrong colors or techniques for a rubber piece!
Hausi
Yeah, I know what you mean, I have painted my rubber foam RS DLT and it expanded when I left in the car while it was pretty hot outside, the result was that the paint cracked in some areas but it wasn't bad and actually adds to the look of a battle worn weapon but I assume that will not happen to this weapon or anything similar to hyperfirm blasters as they seem to use a pretty heavy, robust and dense rubber compound.
