Airborne Trooper
Congratulations, Vincent! When I bought my frame, the person I got it from basically sent the frame and the straps, which they would have left everything intact. Adding on my list of stuff to do this Winter!
m4vrick
Another upgrade to the backpack. This time it's for the Sonix radio: Happy...
HansVader
Did you vent the front of the radio At all? Sounds good I was afraid it was going to be muffledSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Airborne Trooper
Yeah, he's drilled out the one ring of smaller holes towards the center. I blast TD chatter from my radio as well. I use a pyle 50 watt hooked to a mini mp3 player board and cheap rechargeable battery.
HansVader
Could not see well if that’s what he did. I was thinking of doing both sets but Leary taking a drill to my beautiful woodman radio lol! I was surprised at how much larger it really was compared to my rs prop master. Airborne Trooper
RS hasn't updated their packs in quite some time so I highly recommend folks skip that option. Beautiful armor but can't say I recommend their packs.

m4vrick
Hey guys, i only drilled the inner smaller circles, NOT the center-most one. I believe by doing this, i'll still have that muffled sound effect. @HansVader Woody's radio is beautiful all right... but the wear and tear look is part of being a sandie. As you can see the outer look of my radio is no longer that pretty. On some parts i over drilled... In the end i appreciate this radio more. So, just do it... lol

HansVader
quick question , Pretty sure the answer is no but hey.. worth asking.. Adding the hinges to the radio as long ast it does not change the look of the radio is passable for SWAT correct?
henselmonster
As long as you can't see it or have it change the look from the outside, it is approvable at all levels.
Plainsrunner
The red canvas underneath doesn't pose a problem, or is that actually movie-correct? Not critiquing, but actually asking a question to learn more before I attempt a build. Thanks!
henselmonster
Red canvas is screen accurate!
Plainsrunner
One other question -- on the filter pack... the box on the right side above the mortar tube -- is that referred to as Brexen Tool Box B?
m4vrick
Time to upgrade my backpack. These two babies just came through the mail. And i did particularly look for these two, to compare which one is more accurate? Picture: Left: Vintage Karrimor rucksack backpack. Label: "KP Karrimor product of Avenue Parade, Accrington, Lancs, England expressly for Blacks of Greenock Ltd, specialists in climbing & ski equipment". Bottom shape of the frame: rectangular.(item of interest) Right: Vintage Karrimor rucksack backpack karibou series. Bottom shape of the frame: trapezoid Measurement of Left Backpack: +/- 1.9cm = 0.75 inch (pardon me, i didn't bring my digital caliper then) Measurement of right backpack (a little thicker): +/- 1.95 cm = 0.76 inch So ANH scholars, which one is correct? Here is the reference: From the left: To me, these references tell 3 things: 1. The frame is perpendicular & aligned well with the shape of the seedtray, the silverish, unpainted bottom parts of the frame touch both of seedtrays edges, left. 2. The red cloth is clearly visible, with the bottom part of it unpainted, showing the frame's base silverish color. 3. Note of the ring (s) Conclusion: The backpack of interest, with it's back red straps + rectangular shape, makes sense. Thus, i will be upgrading my backpack with this one Karrimor frame. Constructive criticism welcomed. Please let me know what you guys think.

On the Brexton box tool box part, there was an interesting discussion on it on @Strider backpack build. It was however inconclusive as some were divided over it, lip or no lip, brexton box or not brexton box. IMO, the brexton box(es), were used. It all depends on which backpacks you are building. On your frustration over assembling the various parts for the backpack: trust me, the experience is part of it. I am from Jakarta, Indonesia. I have to deal with crazy custom fees, delays, etc. But to me, the end justify the means. What i must stress is the research, research, and research. Trust me, no ONE vendor gets everything in his catalog ALL correct parts. One vendor has one correct part, the other one has the better and more accurate part. Plus discoveries are being made everyday. Like for example recent cast of the Shires siphon from @ross8008. So, research is the key my friend, and don't pin your hope on just one vendor. RoCKo
Nice mate! Don't stop trying... untill we are satisfied with accuracy! Depending on which reference the frame on some packs definatly looks differently shaped from image to image. I'll have to look into this once again... Btw. If you have one spare red kidney strap, i'm interested! Let me know! I'm still looking for one!

These are the ones i have lol.. i'm sure you won't want my red fabric cloth. You have a reputation to uphold Mr. Vintage.
m4vrick
The said backpack stripped off. Point of interest: the karrimor backpacks come with 3 red stripes. Looking at the screens, and judging by how top part of the frame must be cut off, i say only 2 of the red straps were used. Note of the rings... RoCKo
Hah, that leaves one strap for me, right? Looking good, i'm really looking forward for what you come up with, Vincent!
m4vrick
I'll be reverting back to the trapezoid frames. Found a reference that convinced me the other way: Assumption: battle of hoth. NOTE: easy to fool the eyes that it's a rectangular one. Reference: In the battle of Hoth, in some of the references (courtesy of @RoCKo) in at least 3 instances along with this one, i saw that again and again it's the trapezoid ones. Only logical that these were the frames, recycled from ANH. But this is a weak assumption. The 2nd reference though completely convinced that it is indeed the trapezoid one. What do you guys think? Either way, i'm keeping both frames
Darth Mout
Trapezoid, totally agree.
