Helmet/Armor progress, and Harness questions

Hello,

I'm Noah from Garrison Tyranus, and have been getting together a kit over the past few months with the local help of some garrison mates.

Here is my progress so far (pics below; helm and armor) * I still need to file the eye ports down some

The kit is WTF.

My biggest debate is determining the harness system which will hold everything in place. I'm 165-170lbs, 6'1". All I really care about is the armor staying on my body and not falling off; is there a preferred harness system? I plan to use velcro mainly (I have the industrial stuff from Lowes) , I'm not really attracted to snap buttons much at the moment.

Any direction on where to go or recommendations would be appreciated.

For the helmet, you can use the star foam, ACH military helmet padding, or hard hat liners.

For the armor, don't use velcro. It'll eventually wear out and fail. I only use it on my calves and have had to replace it a few times now. Go with snaps or the traditional strapping method.

Agreed, I've used snaps and they hold up great, even after close to 60 troops in my armor.  I used snap plates (snaps placed into nylon webbing) and then gluing the nylon onto the armor.  That way I don't have to drill into the armor and I can removed the snap plates if needed.  I use E6000 to glue the snap plates down.

Every so often I might need to re-glue the nylon down but really no problems here either. Don't forget you need to separate the kidney and butt plate unless you're going for ROTJ style.

Yep, going to separate them tomorrow actually.

Thank you all for the advice. Helped a lot

My kit has the original bracketing system, which  was supplied by RS Props.

Today I had to make my first repair as there was a stress fracture on one of them which has ripped it from the armour.

I'm currently gluing it back in place but I'm not convinced it will hold for too long before going again, so I suspect I'll be heading down the 'snaps' path too.

My velcro in my shins is losing grip in places quite quickly.
